I finally did the L12 mod last night successfully. The best FSB I could get was 220. Now I am getting into windows at 240. I have not done any mods to the board and it look like the newest revisions of the nf7-s are great for FSB unlike popular opinion. I was running Far cry at 230x10 for alittle while and it is way smoother than it was at 200x12.5. What should I mod next to get more out of this combo. I can boot into windows at 2713, but only for a suicide screen shot. I am wondering what I need to do to get a better stable overclock. On my previous nf7-s, I would never get a BSOD. Now when I try the combo of high fsb and multiplier, I get it around 227x11.5. My memory is pc4000 and the board seems to work up to 240 fsb. My timings are 2.5,3,3,5 The 12 volt rail is 11.79 under load. My next step I guess is to mod my thermaltake 480 PS. I guess you can turn the pots up a ways. I wish I would just quit messing with it and use it, but man is it fun!!! Do I need better North and southbridge cooling? Where is the next step up. Did I get all I can get out of this $78 processor? I am now thinking seriusly about a 2500 mobile with an iqyha mpmw stepping. Am I crazy?

Nice results.

Upping the 12V and 3.3V lines would definately gain you stability.
Go for it.

Now there is an idea. Phase change cooling to the gpu and cpu...Heck, might as well throw in the north and southbridge blocks....Hehe....probably not feasable to convince the wife it is needed.

LOL

That's what I am gonna do tomorrow. Put phasechange on graka ;)

No way you noticed the difference in Far Cry :D It can't be more than 15% in theoretical bandwidth. No more than 5% in reall appz ;)

Believe me, for the life of your system, you will be messing with it. ;)

And I'm sure going up to 240MHz FSB will affect FarCry performance...

Same with my 8mos old NF7-S, got about 220-225 stable before, now i'm hitting 235-240 with the L12 mod... :D

FSB helps immensly in FarCry, and so does a boatload of ram ;)

Yes I have to definetely agree with the RAM part 100%. When I went from 512 -> 1024, the loading times went a few min -> 15 seconds. The swapping in-game is also 100% gone.

Yes it goes to 11.67 on the 12 volt rail now when under prime. Stabilty is a concern. 200x12.5 is stable, but 202x12.5 is not even close. It fails under a few minutes. It is strange. The memory is fine and the board is new. I will do the PS mod, but I am wondering if anybody know s of anything else to aid in stability. It will boot into windows at 240x11 but is not stable. It quits loading the starup icons....I would like to have 230x11 for everyday use. Is that too much to ask?

Hmm... my voltage never drops. I though Thermaltake PSUs were OK?

Have you watched it when under prime? Mine will start at 11.80 and drop to to 11.73 and then 11.67 when in prime. I am hoping this will fix my instability problems. I will pull it apart this weekend in hopes to get more air in the case and the PSU mod. The othe rrails and voltages are all perfect, but I am running a lot on the 12 volt line. (too much probably) The psu enebled me to get where I am now from the 2.4 before with the same setup save a offbrand 430 watt psu. Maybe I will put some thermal compound on the northbridge cooler as welll.

Of course I have. I've watched the MBM log of my computer. 12V never goes below 11.95V after any sort of load of hours. Prime, 3D - whatever.

Sweet, I should have bought an antec, I guess. I have a 350 watt Antec......It probably will not even come close.

Well, I would imagine a 350W Antec might do better than 11.67 on the 12V line. I'd give a try :)

Can you show me a graph when in prime...ie...screenshot.

Hmm.. MBM5 doesn't have a graph. I'd have to install SpeedFan. Do you really want it? I can do it.
