in the past i was was watercooling my NB in my ASUS P4C800E but tbh i dont know how much watercooling with the asetek waterchill helped my clocks if any...

I got bored of the watercooling and phase change together in my rig so now i am using the mach 2 GT and have removed the waterchill GPU and NB waterblocks from my rig.

SO far i was running 5/4 using the Stock NB Asus heatsink and a fan attached to it 60mm.

I am thinking of changing the NB heatsink with a better one the Swiftek NB cooler

http://www.overclock.co.uk/productimages/17199.jpg

Is there any benefit doing so?They cost quite a lot like £25 so i dont know if there is any improvement installing such a NB cooler over my stock + fan cooler.

My cpu after the boards volt mods will be running arround 300fsb 1:1 provided my ram can cope which i havent yet tested waiting for my replacement cpu kit for my mach 2 GT

So is there any point getting such a NB cooler over the solution i am using now or not?

What are your experiences with canterwood boards? i am in the 300fsb 24/7 area so i was thinking about it...

if my ram doesnt allow me i will get some 3700EB ocz and go back to 5/4 again i guess...

So what do you think?

Oh i can get the Microcool Northpole too right now
http://store.over-clock.com/NorthPole2.jpg
cos the swiftek isnt available yet but the northpole will cost more in order to get the Intel mounting kit...

+ i havent installed any mosfet sinks in my P4C800E if that makes any difference...

they are good but just a zalman fan bracket with a fan blowing on the nb is better i think because it cools nb rams mosfets at the same time

Does the NB really need that much cooling on a P4 system???

Mine is so cool i can hold my hand on it... Must be about 30C degrees

Mine is hot as hell with stock heatsink (no fan) ... I can definitely get an extra 15-20 mhz fsb with water... Although, I never tested with a fan, maybe thats all I would have needed.

Well, NB cooling isnt a huge deal. But it will help you scale higher with your fsb, and allow you to pump more voltage through it. P4s and Axps need the NB cooling alot more, cause A64s control htt through the cpu itself.

this is the temp of my NB (stock cooler) since i took out the WC to upgrade parts atm.
82 C!!

And this is the mosfets temp. (since one mosfet is burned ...the others increase in temp.)

my board is seriosly foked and loves the high temps...these temps are accurate ...

My asus P4C800 DLX northbridge got so hot(37c load) that it burnt to touch the heatsink.

I got the swiftech sink and it went to 28c load. I didnt get anymore fsb though cause my CPU was maxed out

ouw ya the chipset temp above i posted was at idle ...and the mosfet temp while under load (both at 4.1 Ghz) ...

i think the burned mosfet is causing everything to increase in temps ...maybe i shud send the board back. (board works fine tho)

well well find out...

my cpu kit is on its way today and the NB cooler dunno...by saturday i will hopefully have everything installed...

i just hope my adata can do 300fsb 1:1 as i can push 3.35with the mods i am gonna have to redo to my new board

my P4C800-E rev1.02 stock NB heatsink is only 33-36C under load even at 2.8C @ 280fsb on air. Using SP-94 which gets in the way of adding a 40-60mm fan on top of NB heatsink
