Ok, well I got my DFI RMA back, quickly test the board outside of my pc case to see if it works, it boots up fine etc.

So I put it all into my case, then do the same thing, turn it on. the monitor goes to turn on then the pc immediately shuts down. So I reposition the memory same thing happens, I unplug other devices, same thing happens. So I try it out of the case again - same thing happens.

It literally turns on, then powers down. I've tried 2 CPU's, repositioned my mem a few times etc. This has happened on two Socket A Mobos, Infinity and NF7-S. yet on my Abit AI7 it does not happen.

Any ideas?

check for extra motherboard mounts that could be touching something on the back.

well I tried it outside the case again on cardboard, and it kept doing the same thing and it can't be shorting out on cardboard surely? :/

1. dont say hella
2. turn teh board upside down and share it hard, you might have some metal fragment swimming on your mobo. have you tried a new psu? it might be the problem.

i dont currently have a new psu to try.

When I put the speaker in, it will power down and then the speaker will give out a consistent beep, like a siren. I've heard this beep before when my CPU fan fails or something.

Could it be that it believes the CPU is overheating or something? (Tho I've tried it with two cpus, XP-M 2600 and Duron 1.3ghz)

Any ideas?

it is obvious that you made someting while installing it in case maybe touched somethink like hsf may loosed contact with cpu or like others said maybe your case shorted mobo and damaged it

You shorted it out on the case obviously.

indeed, sorted that prob, now arises a new one.

My WD Raptor seems to take forever to load up windows (25 bars) which I find incredibly odd.

Any ideas on this one?

Well, it seemed as if the aero 7 cooler clip was hanging over a cap and just kept shorting out on it or something. As when I turned it around the other way, it was perfectly fine. I tested this numerous times to the same result.

EXTREMELY wierd.
