View Full Version : Are there any Aquamark3 tweaks?

I decided to install DirectX 9 and tryout the Aquamark3 benchmark. I scored 34,688 (http://arc.aquamark3.com/arc/arc_view.php?run=1151040720), which is not too bad I quess. It is 5th for Intel P4's and nVidia GF4 TI's.

Are there any particular tweaks or suggestions for improving Aquamark scores? My video card is overclocked higher than a couple of the people in front of me, so I figure there must be some tweaks that I have not found yet. I have AA/AF turned OFF, vsync turned OFF, most everything set to max performance, etc.

Thanks,

Kanavit

Aquamark3 tweak guide (http://arc.aquamark3.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=2836)

think that's one of the highest G4ti scores i've seen. nice job Edward2.

I finally found the trick to using the older 42.51 driver and have taken the #1 spot for Intel P4's and nVidia GF4 TI's.... 36,933 (http://arc.aquamark3.com/arc/arc_view.php?run=144624870)

I did shutdown most of the non-essential Windows services and stuff. I think there were about 14-15 services listed in Task Manager. I haven't tried killing Explorer before. What does it do?

I'm pretty sure I can get another 67 points, although I just noticed that it is kind of irrelevant. I originally searched for just Intel P4's and GF4 Ti's (which made me #1), thinking that the A64's would dominant the top of the chart. Well I just searched for all CPU's and GF4 Ti's, and it turns out that I am #2 overall. Spaceboy has the lead with a 39,630 (CPU=9715 and GFX=5001). My score breakdown is 36,933 (CPU=12,122 and GFX=4305), so it wasn't his CPU that made the difference. His video card is running 398/770 vs my 351/743.

TommW buy a new sub 100 $ CPU and you'll be fine

Killing explorer.exe is worth a few points in 2k1 so it could possibly help there as well.

Remember every 1fps = 1000 points so even a re-run can get you a higher score. One tenth of a frame per second is another 100 points onto your score.

Well, I did not get the 67 points last night. I tried tweaking a variety of settings and the best I could get was 36,969. (http://arc.aquamark3.com/arc/arc_view.php?run=1822374643) I'm probably going to have to increase my CPU and/or video card overclocks in order to go much higher.

Just as a side note, I tried using the 44.67 driver since it appeared to give people very high GFX scores. I thought maybe it would help increase my overall score, but it did not. It only increased the GFX score and lowered the CPU score. The best I got was 34,529 (CPU=6491 and GFX=4704).

FYI, I finally managed to break 37k by increasing my CPU overclock.... 37,002 (http://arc.aquamark3.com/arc/arc_view.php?run=882866046)

I also have a question about AquaMark3 ...
With fixed frequency of VGA (GPU/MEM), CPU and Ram, you know any tweack for os (Win7 or earlier) to use with this bench?

The link above does not work :(...

Tnx and sorry for my bad english :D.

P.s.
I've tried with alternative ati driver & i've just worked with windows seven servicies but my final score is the same.

tnx for support :yepp:!!!

Holy thread revival....

Clock your CPU as high as it will go and still run the CPU tests of 3D06.

Clock your GPU(s) as high as they will go and still run the first two gfx tests of 3D06.

Run AM3 off a fresh reboot.

I've seen really good scores with Win7 and pared down & tweaked versions of XP Pro (like XSOS).

Good luck...:D

There's a file you need to delete or replace to run Aquamark on Vista/7. Search button.

AM3 is a 15 second test.. whatever your CPU will pass 20 seconds of wPrime32M on 2 threads it will usually pass AM3 at. I specify wPrime32M as AM3 will load up 2 threads and it is as smooth as wPrime with regards to stability. GPU stress is also incredibly low, basically whatever will barely get through any of the 3DMark game tests will typically pass AM3. Just test the benchmark, it is so short you can run it dozens of times in the time it took to read this thread.
