While examining the X800Pro and X800XT GPU, we found 2 sets of bridges on the top right of the packaging, similar to ones found AMD cpus..

For the X800Pro, the left bridge is broken, while for the X800XT, both are intact..

Hence we estimate, if the left set of bridge is connected, it will be possible to unlock the 4 pipelines in the X800Pro. If both are broken, then X800XT/Pro will become a X800SE..

Of course, in the manufacturing of the R420 silicon, there is always defects and whether all 16 pipelines work will depend on ur luck

Xbit labs must have gotten checkerboards or something since many, if not all have physically defective pipes. I have heard atis yields on the 16 pipe verson wont be high enough to afford disable working pipes since they need all the xt's including x880xt pci-e

I think this will be a dead duck, Ati obviously thought they lost money last time with this sort of thing so have stopped it dead this time.

Personally I feel they should just sell XTs, and ask you which one you bought in the driver installation to decide whether it is an XT or Pro, or SE.

Sure there is a bit more volts (0.1V or so) for GPU but bios has nothing to do with it. Also the XT has 1.6ns RAM while the Pro has 2.0ns.

how much better is the x800xt's ram really over the pros? I see tons of people getting mid to high 500s on the pro's ram. were talking from 450 stock to 550MHz which is average overclock. the xt is 560 stock. How well would that overclock on average? 625? 650?
