I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I score around a 16.8k - 17k stock on winXP with dx9.0b using cat 3.7's (seem to work the best out of all the drivers) and the most I can get out of win2k with dx8.1 on any driver version is a 16.2k - 16.4k. Every test seems to be scoring lower.
system specs:
2.2 ghz barton (200x11)
nf7-s v2
mushkin bh-5's @ 11-2-2-2
9700 pro
What is going on?

what file system are you running with that win2k?
also there maybe some video setting you've missed in the ati control panel perhaps?
what Service Pack are you running?

Well now I've tried both 8.1 and 9.0b... NTFS and FAT32... cat 3.1's through 4.4's everything scores the same... consistant low 16k's and no higher
running SP2... everything is set up correctly in the control panel

Wow finally got win2k to perform
no idea what it was doing before.... only thing I did different this time was make 2 partitions, formatted one in NTFS and the other in FAT32 (planning on running this as a daul boot win98se so I can use my EEPROM programmer still)...
installed SP2, benched, then SP4... both seem about the same.
DX8.1b
cat 3.7's
nforce 2.45 drivers (only ones I had handy on a CD)
17,300 right off the bat. I couldn't be happier and I'm glad that wierdness is over   :stick:
thanks for the suggestions anyhow :toast:
