Pin 4 is GND... you might try Pin 2 to the Potentiometer since thats the inverting input
I would check this out with "Holst" he knows alot of thise stuff

ok thanks... what kind of potentiometer would i need

Hi all.
Sorry I dont have acrobat on this PC but im 99% sure that chip is used on some other mods.
Tad drunk but if you search around you should find the answer.

figured it out from the pdf datasheet... solder a 50k- 100k Trimmer to pin 6
and ground it at Pin 4...
set it to somewhere 70k or so
slowely reduce the resistance to gain voltage.

thanks ill give it a try and see what i get. have to order a trimmer first though
ok ive orderd 2 50k trimmers and 2 100k trimmers just incase should be here tomorow so will do the mod then and have it tested as long as my new psu arrives today or tomorow

ok i should have theese (http://store.over-clock.com/vMod_Gear.html) kind of trimmers tomorow mornin to try the mod with. just need clarification on a couple of things so i dont break me board. it has 3 legs on the trimmer which wire gos to which leg of it? and how do i measure the current going through it with my volt meter which legs do i need to put the volt meter on to check.. off to work now
thanks pancake

Trimmer has three LEGS
the middle one is "Grounded" or GND.
and its up to you to use the very left or very right one..
I usually use the very right one... depends on what kinda Trimmer you use...
1.You hook up your multimeter to ONE side pins and to the middle pin.
2.You then turn the trimmer to maxium resistance on your case 100k.
3.Now you solder the wires on the trimmer...
4. Now you solder the other end of the wires to the chip
5. Use the "outer" leg whatever one you soldered the wire to. and Solder it to Pin 6.
6. Solder the Middle Trimmer Pin to Pin 4 on the LM PWN chip or any other grounded spot.
hope it helps a bit :)

what kind of wire is ok to use? i have a roll of kynar 30 awg is it going to be to thin? ive used it on all my xbox mod chips and its been fine but as this is volt modding im not sure if itd handle the volts? any ideas anyone

dunno.... I think its not important.. I always use a thin copper wire which is isolated

didnt work ... i found a thread on this forum were someone else tried it and by his picture this is were he solderd to pin 4 & 6 http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/attachment.php?s=&postid=411106
which he said didnt work so i solderd to pin 4 & 6 as othere labeld on the diagram i got from dfi
http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=36614
but that dont work either
found the data sheet for lm358 and according to that the pic of the mod that someone else did is pins 4 & 6 not like in what i got from dfi but he said that didnt work either

50K VR between pins #5 and #8.
Give that a shot.
Pin #5 is the Non-Inverting Input, and #8 is Vcc.

which way is right to count the pins? the way the other person done it was
1..8
2..7
3..6
4. .5
but the diagram i got from dfi makes it
1..2
3..4
5..6
7..8
which would be right?

its like the first one you said, and the first pin is next to the little dimple on the chip
http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?threadid=294985
try putting a VR either between pin5 and gnd or pin3 and gnd

My, this thread looks oddly familiar:
http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/showthread.php?t=103114&page=1&pp=20
I think this problem has been solved.
Can you guys that are attempting it please keep us posted on the outcome of this so that we know it works before doing it ourselves on other peoples hardware....or other members killing boards trying a mod that does not work.
Thanks

bummer ! maybe the dude from dfi was right , that its more than a case of just attaching a trimmer to a chip

I'm sure it is but I'm not technically knowledgeable enough to figure it out:(

I guess we can bury this motherboard as the limited not so serious overclockers board...should of stuck with Asus.
Unless someone else has a suggestion.
