Ic3man, is that so big case or u just have micro atx motherboard?

No, the P180 is not big at all(internally). Its very cramped inside, especially with all the kit I have hooked up. The motherboard is a P5WDH - atx. It took me a good 2 hours to attempt to hide the wiring.

I'm new here but just wanted to show my 2 watercooled PC's.
The first one is my old PC, i had that one for a long time but it just could not handle all the new games so i sold it and build a new one.
http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/7378/pc013yr5.th.jpg (http://img137.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pc013yr5.jpg)

Specs of that PC were.
XP-M 2600+@3700+ (200x12.5=2500MHz@1.85 volt)
6800LE@16x1,6vp@375/850 (good for 11k 3dmark03)
The rest does not really matter.

I have got my new PC for about 3 months now and i like it alot. It's a modded Lian-Li PC71. I build this PC for playing all the new games but i wanted it to be very silent.
http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/2245/mypcdone123bc2.th.jpg (http://img139.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mypcdone123bc2.jpg)

I used 2 Lian-Li covers to build in the fancontroller and to stealth the dvd so it would look better.

http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/8892/dvdew6.th.jpg (http://img214.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dvdew6.jpg)

I modded the 3x120mm radiator in the case.

http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/3117/overviewjo5.th.jpg (http://img146.imageshack.us/my.php?image=overviewjo5.jpg)

Here are the specs of my new PC.
Watercooling stuff:

CPU block - Alphacool Nexxos HP Pro Socket 775.
GPU block - Alphacool Nexxos NVXP3 ATI.
Rad - Alphacool Nexxos Xtreme 3.
Pump - Eheim 1048.
Fans - 2x Papst 120mm 4412F/2GLL.

And the rest of the hardware:

CPU - Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz@3.1GHz (345x9@1.35 volt)
GPU - Sapphire X1900XT@655/835
MOBO - P5W DH Deluxe.
RAM - 2x 1GB PC6400 DDR2 Corsair

(i always keep a spare keyboard and mouse handy...)

Performance PC's cut the hole, and I bought the FilterRight filter from them too. It was meant to hold a fan, which it did before until I moved my radiator inside of the case. Then I had to dremel down the bolts to size and I just mounted the grille there.

Tnx for the compliments. It took me about 20 hours just to cut the holes, mount the radiator, the reservoir and the pump. I cut all the holes by hand to get the best result. I really needed it to be good because of the price of the case.

I know that there are better watercooling block and rads but i chose Alphacool because i really like how it looks.

I know it's alot better for the temps to do that. However my system is stable and the temps are ok. It would be better but i do not look forward to getting out all of the watercooling stuff and the motherbord just for better temps.

As long as my system is stable i dont really care about it. Since i found the stable voltage for the Core 2 Duo OC i have never had a reboot or any other problems with the PC.

Well, At first i was thinking of doing this when i got my PA120.3 Radiator. Mount it in the front and put the Hardd rives in the bottom. Havent found any ways to carefuly get the Harddrives to just sit in the bottom of the case. So i decided to make a hole in the bottom and mount\mod the rad in the bottom. Here what is gives:

http://img456.imageshack.us/img456/2144/img2389we6.th.jpg (http://img456.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img2389we6.jpg) http://img475.imageshack.us/img475/8605/img2463yu1.th.jpg (http://img475.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img2463yu1.jpg)

Ill may try to make something similar to you and make the Hd's hold on the bttom and ill Probably again re-do my watercooling kit soon. Ill get a Strom waterblock another MCW60 (whit of course the X1900CrossFire edition card) maybe a second pump and ill mount the Rad just as you did in the front. Anyways Thanks for the Pics!

EDIT: Oh and By-the-way: Use some Coolsleves on that Horrible bending on that Outlet of your pump!

LOL! Just saying that you should use some coolsleeves on your tubing Right Here: http://img376.imageshack.us/img376/1856/simg2899mq0.th.jpg (http://img376.imageshack.us/my.php?image=simg2899mq0.jpg) So that your Tube does not bend like that.

Coolsleeves™ are extruded PVC coils designed to be wrapped around 5/8" Outer Diameter soft vinyl tubes, and eliminate tube kinking and flattening in medium to sharp bend areas.

I use some on my Tube so that it does not do what it does on your Tube where it connect to your Pump...

That's what he meant, kinked tubing means that the tubing is not in its original form and doesn't have a proper ID anymore.
Coolsleeves are wraps that prevent kinking, they stabilize the tubing -> if it's just a too sharp bend, you can also use zip ties for that.

http://img133.imageshack.us/img133/3273/fanhdbracketea7.jpg

regarding that kink in the inlet, i also had that because i had 2inch over tubing, cut it to size and rebarb tubing, add them coolsleeves or cable ties and your good to go.

Otherwise you'd just have to add som color additives, even though it's not really recommened in the long run. But I think that the color of the Pentosin looks great. Here's a link (http://www.petrastechshop.com/peg11coadb.html)to some Pentosin, but i think you've already seen it :)

Nothing really. My Swiftech Qp triple is mounted up top. There might be room to mount a Thermochill PA120.3, but I'm not going to bother doing any further upgrades to this build. It is a socket 478 system after all. But I have some bad ideas involving a PA120.3 and an Enlight CK8950 for a summer project.
I'll get more pics up later tonight or tomorrow. I moved the pump and changed the tubing a bit.

hmm Mankz i would suggest using some high flow fittings instead of those Perfect Seal fittings you have attached to your pump...

well i suppose if you're using 1/2 id tubing you won't really have a problem fitting your tubing on it, but the added lip of the said barb would cause some turbulence thereby reducing some flow. this is why i suggested using High Flow fittings. there are numerous threads in this section explaining the reasoning why perfect seal fittings are not recommended.

Mankz_91
10-27-2006, 02:06 AM
care to explain...????

Xavior
10-27-2006, 02:25 AM
They cause some turbulence, which means you'll have some more flow loss.

Very small and probably unnoticeable though, not worth the trouble if you haven't got High-Flow barbs around. You're using 1/2''ID tubing anyway.

And also, isn't the pump pumping water INTO the res? Or am I misreading the picture? Seems like the tubing coming from the drive bays goes into the inlet, and then from pump to reservoir. That isn't optimal, and I just learned why (new thread in this section :P)

Mankz_91

Yeah I made the window (3 times in all until I got it right lol). It was a damn sight easier than cutting the holes for the triple rad though.

Its not the GX2 thats crooked its the XFI card. The inlet tube on the DDC is pushing it up slightly at the front end but in the photos it does look like the gx2 is wonky. As stated I'm going 1/2 when the spacer kit arrives so alot of stuff will have to be moved around so that will be sorted. I'll lose the SB waterblock (not needed except for bling purposes:D ) and I'm gonna try my hardest to mount the res somewhere internally...running out of space rapidly now tho:(

Just a quick question though..do any you have performance numbers of not having a water res vs having one? Im starting to lean towards not having one..I was just going to do CPU first..and add the GPU later when new g80 cards come out. :)

Unless I'm confused a res is just to put more surface water to dissipate heat faster right?

Well so far people have resevoirs to bleed air bubbles out of their system. Running a t-line can take you an hour or even longer to bleed out the entire system, while running a res it might take you seconds.

Temps should be the same running a system with a res vs. a system without one.

NysoO i have the same Mobo there, but my cpu is a 3.0 Prescott, could not OC pass 3.25 instability issues with stock NB sink.

I had a northwood 2.8 before, should not have upgraded to the Prescott tsk tsk...

i know what you mean by stiff tubing, looks same as mine which i had to muscle behind my mobo try via some 2inch hole i made hehehe.

you'd probably have to wire it 1 by 1 starting with the smaller wires then last the atx20/24 molex, try put them behind the elbowed bay res, and don't give up because they're stiff, you can do it!

I have a question, I've notice a some of these cases have just as many fans as a case that does not watercool. I thought the general idea is to cut noise down and get better performance. Kinda defeats the purpose of putting a case full of fans and watercooling doesn't it?

Unless they doing just for the "bling" factor im missing something..

You still need some airflow because of RAM, northbridge/southbridge (unless those are watercooled), and other motherboard components. But because this doesn't need as high airflow as when full-blown aircooling you can get away with slower and quieter fans :)

markopoleo ...

my new wc rig is quieter, also i need alot less fans to keep my mb cool now that i dont have a hot cpu heatsink right next to the mb heatsink. also you dont need high cfm fans, the yate loon 120mm fans im running are so quiet you cant hear the 2 of those over my gpu fan. through the rad the air entering my case is still cool (useable) and i have a rear and front 80mm's to cool the insides. when i upgrade to quieter 80mm it will probly be nice and quiet.

so ya my setup is just as loud right now as some standard setups but the inside temp is probly alot cooler

also my pump is silent,, get the yl fans and the quiet pump when you build yours and you will be happy

hmm Camb on the first rig you had your rad supplying your pump, i think most would say its supposed to be the T-Line before pump inlet, easier to fill and prime...

other than that, its a very nice and clean install, nice use of 3mm plate there.
and the yeong yang simple also, only usual suspect of cube cases are the back side of mobo where the wires are located...

heres the loop for inspecting
Shouldn't res be before pump? Looks like rad - cpu - res - gpu - pump - rad. Should be rad - cpu - gpu - res - pump - rad

It seems to me it is :)
Look closer
the bottom barb of the res makes a 180 degree turn to the inlet of the pump... this pump has the outtake on top ;)

Yeah, look where the tubing from the bottom barb of the Micro res goes...it seems to disappear but the only place it could possibly end is the pump. And if you look closely, it does. The D5 can be turned on its side and mounted that way pretty easily, so I'd assume the upward barb is the outlet.

Me to! Antec needs to smarten up. Most of us prefer black over silver!
