I think the inner fans are actually dead fans acting as shrouds.

Don't ruin the fun for the rest of us. :p:

Funkflix, I totally approve of that chiller. Putting it in another room is an elegant solution.

Nice job with the HDD controller and SATA cables, 8 drives is a lot to deal with. I did 6 HDD's in my system and the SATA cables made wire management interesting for sure

Guys, two real quick questions

1) Do you think Bitspower 1/2 compression fittings would fit on the EK 250 Reservoir? I planned on using the top connector for the fillport, the bottom connector for Bitspower temperature sensor and the V connectors for IN/OUT, but I just got the 250 Reservoir and the V connectors are pretty close together and Im not sure if 1/2 compression fittings would fit in there.

2) I just got my D-tek Fuzion V2, and it came with this Pro-mount thing and extra screws (which have black o-rings). Should I use this pro-mount and/or the extra screws? I see most people dont use this at all, I see stock mount and stock screws...

NOt sure they will fit due to the slight recess as the o-ring wont butt up against the res. but I'll have a go for you tonight if you want.

Might have to look into the Pro-Mount some more.

The Pro mount allows for better mounting pressure, which leads to better temps in most cases. When I bought my Enzotech Sapphire it didn't come with springs, so I got some from the hardware store and cut them to fit on the screws used to mount the block. Much, much more pressure.

Hijack
09-18-2008, 05:20 AM
Something I never understood...why would kits use spring mounts instead of hardmounts with a simple bolt+nut setup? You're certainly able to control pressure much better without dealing with a spring at all right?

Oh please do help me out on this one as I would hate to spend $20 on 2 compression fittings to find out they wont fit in the 250 res!I had the 250 res from eK, I returned it because it was too big for my case. I did see if my bitspower compression fittings would fit on them. The O-ring doesn't seem to contact enough due to the size of the actual compression fitting. Their isn't enough surface cut out (the flat space around the opening of the threads) to flush it enough. I was going to use the 1/2" OD by 3/8" ID fittings...

I can think of two reasons:

1) People who change blocks frequently for testing or other reasons may not because the quick mount is just as it sounds....quicker.

2) People haven't realized the correlation yet. I find a tighter block is less prone to have air bubbles in the TIM and just makes better contact.

Using Revoltec Dark Grey atm - its appearing blue because of the camera. inside the tube is normal dest-water and a bit corosion-protection like used in cars (bit blue/green colour - BASF Glysantin).

Found some triangle shaped brackets in Home Depot(sorry ,don't know what you call them) and ran a threaded rod thru all 3 of 'em and cut up some aluminum tune inbetween for stability. The mount is a thermochill pa 120.2 shroud I had lying around. I never move my pc around so this works for me.

So me and my nephew put together a w/c setup for him. Took us 12 hours roughly, although having bad ram really messed things up from a trouble shooting perspective. Otherwise, we would have had it done in about half the time, :D. He is going to do some sleeving and wire managment when he gets home, other than that I think it came out well. Actually no, I was surprised that the vdroop was around only .02v which is fantastic. I had the Gigabyte P35-DS3R and the vdroop was unreal, so I was hesitant about getting this one for my nephew, but I like Gigabyte from the reliability and user friendliness sides. It was super easy to OC this chip on the board. I was having trouble getting some Kingston ram to work at the rated speed, but I just didn't have the time to fool with it, so I left it at SPD. Anyway, great board for the money and th usability.

Yes, direction of the flow and since it is a dual core, orientation really doesn't matter unlike a quad core.

Utnorris
I thought that the outlet was on the 'top' to make bleeding easier; the way you have it seems like it would allow bubbles to be trapped in the block.

Not saying you CAN'T, just saying why it's oriented the way it is...

I know the apogee gt is different than the d-tek but mine is technically upside down to so I could have the flow going the way I wanted and prefer not the way it is meant.

They're passive radiators, and people use them because they'd rather not have three fans humming away.

wow nice WhiskeyAlpha looking good
and how do you get solley your tubing lichting up like that because whit my cathodes i also get a bit of a purple extra glow...

Thanks dopestuff, no real secrets mate.

I do think that cathode placement is critical though. I have 2 on each side panel and 4 on the top panel, making a total of 8. However, I tried my hardest to ensure that they are placed insuch a way that you rarely see a cathode directly, from outside the case.

Also, the smoked black acrylic that I replaced the original clear side panels with does a much better job of "filtering" out cathode glow and dust, giving a cleaner overall look.

Hope that helps

WhiskeyAlpha nice looking mm :D one of the best i have seen :D :p:

Many thanks for the kind comments bentleya, glad you like it. :p:

Not a custom paint job unfortunately, just the standard mirror black powder coat and a shedload of Mr Sheen :p:

In some ways it would be nice to have a comment free gallery, but this thread has lasted so long and is filled with amazing rigs over a long period of time. I'd say just leave this one going, but you could start a new one with a comment free picture gallery. I think they could both go along together hand in hand.

This thread has worked so well for such a long time as is. We've only had a few complaints out of the large number of users who peruse this thread daily.

I see no reason to have two threads...it would just cause confusion. One or the other of the two would probably die.
