That's awful cold for a room temperature. That is unless you purposely leave the windows and doors open on a cold night and put on a jacket and booties to overclock. lol.
I can handle that no problem since I'm from the great white north, but I gotta tell ya, my room ambients have never been below 18degC. or so.

Darren1981

Im in Melbourne, AussieLand

and my room has no carpet, just floorboards and well i did a :banana::banana::banana: voj ripping up the carpet, Anyway my temps are also around the pics above... i have a heater next to me at all times, But the colder ambient temp goes a long way to stretching out an overclock.

I dont have a digital cam, so can only take a screenshot for you in windows..

********* NOTE***********
My E7200 @ 3.4Ghz has retarded thermal sensors that dont work until above 42c.. @4Ghz under load this will go above 42c, but even under full load at 3.4Ghz this wont exceed 45c.... i am using a stock intel fan also.... my case is on a table at the moment, but when on the floor even better results.the video card in use is only a 9600gt but has a stock Accelero S2 cooler on it.

yeah my house is weird it always seems really cold in winter through the day even though it might be warm outside then the afternoon sun warms it up for the night.

we have tiles everywhere no carpet no rugs, we do have insulation in the roof but i only really have heating in my bedroom never bothered to put it anywhere else as a large portion of my house i run a business from so yeah.

another thing is the cpu isnt overclocked just running at stock speed, (mainly on idle) would definatly heat up if i did overclock it. it's my most powerfull comp and i seem to use it the least. mainly just for backups

my every day banger with business accounts e-mails etc on it is a

e6750 2.66Ghz core 2 duo, 750GB sata hdd, samsung sata dvd burner, 9600gt vga, 4gb geil dual channel ram, lian li case, 400watt psu, stock air cooled @ 33 degrees

Weird. You should get linked to a page similar to the picture below. You just need to enter in the 3 letters and click download.

If that doesn't work, let me know and I'll make a youtube account.

CyberDruid

OK I am waiting the 60 seconds for the frigging "Free" DL of a video.

However IMO 99% of the time most people just want to click a link and see something...not enter a code, wait a minute and also wait for a DL...hence my suggestion of YouTube.

Plus YouTube is imbeddable on a lot of sites...

I only get 14KB/sec DL speed from that site and that means waiting 38 minutes to watch your vid...

EDIT: download never happened...sorry, the server reset.

there is no way in hell that the system temp was the ambient temp of the room i have just woken up i am sitting here now freezing my :banana::banana::banana:ing nuts off and it rekons the system is 20 degrees. weather say's its 9 degree's outside and to me it actually seems warmer outside than in.

the heatsink on the chipset is hot though and the heatsink on the cpu is ice cold

modzona
08-16-2008, 05:24 PM
The thing way you have the impreson that it is colder inside than out. Is that you have the heat from tha rad/pc that heats up the air that i goes up naturally. So that the cold air comes inn and makes it all feel colder becouse of the small wind it creates :P

agreed, and then someone's gonna come around, telling about a hose that got detached from the pump or the radiator, and ask "how the hell could that happen  , you guys think my mb is still OK etc...etc..." Just to say that not using clamps on hose/barbs or compression fittings all the way is suicidal. Accidents ? Some of you guys are just asking for it ;)

I think horizontal layout is better in terms of GPU waterblocks coz usualy they are very heavy and they tend to bend a card. with this configuration it does not matter how heavy gpu block is.
Will not bend a card.

Way too many unclamped tubes? Even zip tied would be good.

is that aimed at me?

its been built abuot a year now with no leaks, its 7/16 tubing over fat 1/2" barbs and its so tight I needed to heat the ends of the tubing in boiling water to get them over the barbs and getting them back off again is a nightmare.

I'm happy, I know what I'm doing tbh been around the block a few times on this and I'm much happier with 7/16 and no clips/ties than with 1/2" with clips etc... the tubing is literally moulded onto the barbs.

Irregardless, should your pump die, your tubing will heat up and pop off at the weakest link.

It's happened to a couple people recently and is not fun.

Hey CD! Below are 2 pics from before everything got installed. You can see that the shrouds are bolted to the tech station. This allows them to serve both as shrouds and as the mounting mechanism. You put the radiator on one side of the shroud and then put the fans on the other side. Using super long screws, you then screw the fans into the rad which wedges them together against the shroud.

Browsing this thread it dawned on me i haven't posted any pics of my update.

Since cloudy tubing after only a matter of months drove me completely nuts, i decided to go with (small) black Tygon R3400.

Other updates: Changed mobo from P5K-E wifi to P5Q-E and changed XTC cooler to corsair one as it matched the black scheme better.

TBH, no not really, but i have to admit that i changed CPU, mobo, and the Dtek FuZion's nozzle from 4,5 to 5,5mm, plus that i took out the EK Northbridge block.

So i can't really tell.

What i do know is that this tubing is way easier to route.

On the lack of clamps, I don't recall who I meant it for, because there were a number of rigs I saw without them. And I'll honestly and humbly bow to those with more experience who feel the 7/16 is an incredibly tight fit. But I do recall folks mentioning after disasters that when heated pipes of all kinds expand and loosen, and I am just hopeful that folks are taking careful note of the risks (if any) and are not needlessly taking chances thinking that a pipe never expands.

So if you've built a bunch of rigs and judge reasonably the chances to be small, I'll bow to that. No worries.

I found that the cool looking OCZ RAM cooler was actually not doing the job. The 120mm wedged into the tubing dropped temps about 10C on the FB DIMMs.

The whole reason I started messing with it again was to play with some hard drives and get my Areca to work on the D5400XS...which it does admirably.

I finished a bit of an overhaul on my rig a few days ago so thought I'd share some updated pics with you guys. I did some proper cable management, finally installed my EK Supreme, got the new DD block and backplates on my 280's and replaced my DDC res tops with XSPC acrylic ones. Loads of hose but a bit of bling :D, bit of a PIA to drain but ah well.......lol.

Why do you run different sized tubing?

I'm confused, is that a dual loop?

Why do you run different sized tubing?

Of course it is a dual loop, can't you see the two pumps and two res's?

MomijiTMO
08-22-2008, 04:52 PM
Interesting rig there jarvo1. I wonder what your flow is like lol. As long as you have rad surface area then I guess it doesn't matter so much :)

jarvo1
08-22-2008, 05:59 PM
Yeah, interesting is the word for it all right lol. I was a bit worried about flow in the CPU loop but it's more than adequate I think, theres a GTX 360 with 4 110CFM Scythe Jynui's to cool it off so temps are good (CPU is idling around 30C with 3.6GHz, board @ 37C).
I went from EK res tops, 1/2" tubing to an MC-TDX, with t-junctions to feed 3/8" to the 4 chipsets, flow with the res tops wasn't even enough to let the Supreme do it's thing on its own and there was hardly any airflow in the case due to how I had the pumps positioned, definately not an ideal setup. I'm impressed with the XSPC top, it now runs fine even with 3 other blocks in the loop, plenty of airflow and my temps have improved further on everything so I'm happy with it for the time being.
The GPU loop is fine as is, 43C idle maxing at about 60C while folding isn't bad at all for 700MHz GTX280's imo :) MCP on that loop is @ 39C so still an improvement there too.

This is still my first W/C'd rig so I'm still learning but man it's fun and addictive!

To answer FilthySanchez, the different tube sizes was mainly because I had the MCP in that loop before and I couldn't fit 1/2" barbs on it with the GPU in the way, all the lengths were already cut in the 3/8" so I stuck with it and just removed the t blocks to try to help the flow a bit more. Next time I clean the loop, the 3/8 will be replaced with 1/2" and some bitspower compression fittings, except for the MCP which will have to stay 3/8 ;)

On a side note, anybody know if EK do case badges? I'd like one to sit next to the DD one on the window, I have a small obsession with stickers........

MomijiTMO
08-22-2008, 06:45 PM
Addictive is a good description lol. What are the load CPU temps? Idle seem pretty good [ambients are needed though].

jarvo1
08-22-2008, 06:53 PM
Load temps hit 46C after about 20mins of small FFT's. I'm not sure about ambient but its early hours of morning here and 17C outside so I'd say 20ish or slightly more, warm enough to not be cold in just my underwear anyway lol. I've been meaning to run a long Prime test to get a max temp so I'll do it in the next few days probably.

can someone tell me
should i use 3x1220rpm or 3x2000rpm fans for my rad

i used to have the 1220 rpm fans with C2D cpu's
but i hooked up one Q9450 and thinks got warm
if i use 3 x 2000k rpm will be better or just wast of money ?

MomijiTMO
08-22-2008, 07:34 PM
Great temps jarvo1!

What rad do you have Vatos? Sure 2000rpm fans will give you better temps but they are much noisier. What's the price difference? What's important to you?

Vatos_locos
08-22-2008, 07:36 PM

If noise isn't a bother then of course go for the 2000rpm fans. :) Might want to hit Martin's site to see how much 2000rpm fans improve cooling. It might only be 2 C which isn't worth it.

Both ways have its own benefit. Either you push warm air out of the case, or you pull fresh air through the rad, but warm air into the case.

waterlogged
http://img264.imageshack.us/img264/7264/acrespk1.jpg

and suggestion from lyl:

a potential mod could be to tap the side of that res near the top for an inlet (water flowing from the radiator) or get one that already has it like the EK. it would eliminate the long tubing run going down to the bottom, and would make the loop OH so clean.

I have removed the ac res and replaced it with an EK..can't even compare the quality...EK is so far beyond the alphacool res. Also ran the tubing into the top of res reducing tubing run length.

For something to keep the bugs and dust off the new gear I used a RocketFish I got from DirtySanchez

Nice and boring. It lives in the shop so the more boring the better.

@CD, even your quick builds look good!

@Malik...really like the color scheme, except for the smart coils...I'm not a fan of smart-coils though.

Okay, updated my loop once again. I ended up splitting my single loop into two so I now have the CPU/NB on one loop and the GPU on another loop. I decided to use the DD CPX1 w/ my 250ml RES and the TC 120.2 for the GPU loop and kept the FESER 360 w/ the BP 5.25 bay RES and Swiftech 655 for my CPU/NB loop. Well here are some pics:

Here's a shot of the GTZ WB, not the best.
