Cheers guys. You aint seen anything yet, rest of the case looks amazing. Just trying to get it all done is taking ages though, so manny mods to do.

Yeah, the 4 pin molex is there as an option if you don't have the 3 pin in your system. Also with the 3 pin you get to see what the rpm is

No need. 7/16" tubes with 1/2" fittings. It fits so perfect that I can't remove them easy.

I've run 7/16 and 1/2 barbs before and I would at the very least stick some clamps on your T? fitting as it does not have any barbs.

The T is home made with integrated thermosensor and its outer diameter is larger that fitings' ;) That's why I didn't put any clamps on it.

Very clean build, I would really like to see the front of it even if it isn't complete :). I was thinking of doing something close to what you are doing except with a different lian li case.
It makes me cry to see screws scape paint X-X. Such a little detail, but it was an eye sore in my case, and it always catches my eye.

When the pictures were made the build was obviously not completely ready yet. But I think you can get some good impression. This week I will take some new pics of the final result.

True on the blocks :D And better for the Southbridge's cooling...
I guess the overclocked rig at 4Ghz and 9800GX2 SLi will have to make do with my Antec TruePower Quattro 850W. Although they don't need to worry about mechanical HDDs.

Not really...since it's 2 pcb's with a cooler sandwiched in between, unless they find some way to have the cards be closer together, its gonna end up being a dual slot either way

Not really...since it's 2 pcb's with a cooler sandwiched in between, unless they find some way to have the cards be closer together, its gonna end up being a dual slot either way
True, just less plastic to deal with. :lol2:

Just finished leak-testing. Still a fair bit of cable management to go, but I'm done for this weekend...
I think I need to redo the GPUs because I can't get the side panel on because the fan hits the tubing and pinches it. Going to borrow a page from CD and do the cards in parallel with EK Stubbies.

brilliant. nice job on the clean build, and the elbows werent really that bad, just nit picking. :p plz tell me thats not an aluminum topped GTX cpu block. watch out for corrosion. you should try and get a copper top or just get a D-tek Fuzion CPU block
knet370
03-22-2008, 08:32 PM
yes sir,i am aware of that issue on the gtx block. i already have the copper top and will change it if i have spare time. right now im using a strong concentration of feser base anti-corrosion additive as a prevention.
thanks for a warning. ;-)

Very clean build, I would really like to see the front of it even if it isn't complete :). I was thinking of doing something close to what you are doing except with a different lian li case.
It makes me cry to see screws scape paint X-X. Such a little detail, but it was an eye sore in my case, and it always catches my eye.

Yeh I reckon it makes a big difference too, If i turn the low RPM fan off, it gets very warm to touch, but with the fan on it's cool as. The same can be said with the low RPM 120mm Yate loon fan on the ram, I have a OCZ ram cooler that made to much noise and didn't fit well at all, not to mention cooling was nothing to write home about. I reckon I might try and bling it up a bit and make a easy mount for it..........anyone interested.

Nothing glamorous, just well working system. 360mm radiator for CPU alone is overkill but in near future I will put GPU and NB in the loop too.
Block: Ek-Waterblocks Supreme, Pump: DCC 12V, Pump top: Ek-waterblocks, Tubing: Masterkeel 7/16", Fittings: 1/2", Radiator: Magicool 360mm slim

i had a look at threw most of these , theres some amazing setups there.
but one thing i dont get is , alot of these setups run the pump line into the cpu then rad etc then some others run the rad first into the cpu then res then pump etc.
which would work best? i was going to setup mine like this -rad>cpu>res>pump>rad .hmm not sure now.

loop order shoudn't matter too much. There is only a few centigrade difference anywhere on it. Go for a setup which will give the least restrictive flow (ie. not using right angle barbs) and which looks neatest!

I like the look of those copper corner tubes. I spose you could call them right angle bends, but they seem to do it with a nice even flow and not the harsh 90 right angle you get with the rest. They really seem to be the way to go. Where did you get them from?
Boogerlad
03-24-2008, 05:44 PM
you can get them from home depot in the plumbing section. they are called copper elbows. you can also get copper tees which are copper tlines

Yeah, they are ordinary solderable plumbing corners meant for 10 and 12mm copper pipes.. And that's true that they're good for the flow, it was my reason to use those..

Yes Delta's FTW. They are EFB1212SHE's @ 141 CFM. They are all on a Sunbeam fan controller. They are in pull through a BIX 240 & 360. Didn't want to run any whimpy fans, wanted something with a some balls.
Don't think they are to loud, since I worked around Jet Engines for the past 24 years.
Running 2 loops: (Changed the pump tops a few days ago, no pic's yet)
The Fuzion has a 5.5 nozzle being pumped by a MCP355 w/petra's top on the BIX 240
MCP350 w/petra's top is pumping both MCW60's on the BIX 360

Seriously, the longer I'm in WC'ing the more I realize that every loop is different and tubing/pump speed/elbows/etc. affect them all differently. I think as long as you know how it performs with and without the elbows and are fine with the difference (which of course you are if temps don't change), then go for it.

My first post ever and you lucky people are the first to see what I have been working on, I am new to water cooling but I dont like doing things by half so when I couldnt find a res I liked I decided to make my own. It cost an awful lot but the result speaks for it self:D
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t168/beveldrive/Res2.jpg
I started with a 3.6 kilo bronze pipe (bronze is 85% copper so no problem having it in a loop) and got a engineer to machine it smooth and cut threads into both ends. Then I got some 25mm blocks of perspex and got them spun round and threads cut into them - not easy to do with perspex - there is also a groove at the base of the thread for a o ring to seal the end caps. Brass 1/2 inch hose barbs are fitted.
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t168/beveldrive/Res.jpg
I spent around 10 hours sanding it smooth and a polisher gave it a final polish, its like a mirror now:D
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t168/beveldrive/Res3.jpg
I estimate it will hold around 2 litres of fluid, i cant test it yet as I am waiting on parts to complete my loop but hopefully it will work ok. Hope you like it.

Theres plenty of things you could do like paint the inside of your case, colour your water, get colour fans, add lights, but most of all make it uneek:cool:
I also like to have it simple and I'm also not a supporter of all that colorful cases. No offense to anyone who does have such a case because I love to see people showing there cases and additionally like to see how people made their tweaks /mods and still managed to get it into their systemcases.
Painting the inside of the case is a good idea though. I might do that right before I put in the new hardware.
I have family in Putten.
LOL!!!! So are you partially dutch or are they from New-Sealand. My cousin has been in New-Sealand last christmas holiday because this girlfriend was overthere for school. He told and showed me on pics that it is such a beautiful country. I think Putten is about 75km away from me. It's more in the middle of the Netherlands while I'm in the south. I know these distances sound really ridiculous to you all. :D

It seemed to me a little more comfortable the radiator outside the case. Maybe at one time put the radiator top of the case.

It would run cooler outside and blow the hot air away from his system, not into it, seems logical to me to not have all that hot air in case. I shall be mounting mine outside for that very reason.

I wouldn't say it's hot.. i'm blowin the hot air case through the rad outside and my case temp is 30c and water about 35c.. In my plans is to move the rad to front bays attached to http://www.scythe-usa.com/product/acc/008/sckb1000_detail.html

These are scsi cables not sata they only come in certain lengths and they cost £60 each. Obviously you dont know a lot about scsi systems. I'm wasting my time explaining to you why the cables are the way they are. It would different if it were Sata cable based but it isnt, I wouldnt swap sata for my scsi setups anyday.

I'm thinking if so - you could most probably hide majority of that behind the case and motherboard panels.

I have looked at that, but im not to worried its cool running and I dont look at the inners too much, i'm restricted by the cable lengths and the number of headers on each cable. if I were tobuy custom scsi cables the price would rocket im sure. For that reason i'll stay with itthe way it is untill I get a Lian ki 343 later.

I think somebody needs to learn how to take criticism my friend. "You don't know much about X related to computers" on a computer forum is probably not the best comment to make. ;)
Bet you get a decent boot-up time with that setup though, huh ? What difference does 15K HDDs make over 10K ?

No I do its just that cables have to cross as seen in pic with scsi as the controllers are mounted on the bus rather than with sata off to the side. I would like to get a larger case at some point. I have been looking at the Lian li 343.
Anyways back to your question. I wouldnt know its fast as I want it, apart from the pauses reading the controllers in boot each time. So I am not overly concerned about boot time. I just like the responsivness of scsi as opposed to sata.
I get sustained reads of 215mb a sec, but having hardware controllers and configuring them the way I have its extremly fast in loading and saving files.
The difference over the past 10000 rpm drives I have owned is quite a gap in performance. I get 4.6ms access times and hell of lot more speed. Especially over some of the IBM DYDS drives I had.

Oh alright, your dad is or was living in Putten. I thought you would still have family around here. That pc gear is very expensive indeed!!!! I bought my Fuzion for less than half that price. If you place a big order its almost worth it to travel this way, buy your gear and still have money left. Kidding, I know its expensive because my cousin travelled last christmas to New-Zealand for two weeks with a very high priced ticket. Nonetheless he thought it was worth it cause the country must be very beautifull (nature, people and culture).

I have trouble with this board... Keep cooking the "R50" PWM's or whatever they are. Its annoying the crap out of me, have to keep voltages at a min to not get them cooking and thermal shutdown. I would rather an ASUS to be honest. I would have had one, but gigabyte seemed to have the right offerring, though I'm not satisfied.
So perhaps it's not your CPU. and 4.3 is stable because you use such low voltage.

Here is my first wc rig. I originally planned on two loops. I actually have everything for two loops but was unable to get it all in the case, so I opted for a single loop just to see how things go. I still have to add some lights and get my window for the cosmos, but this will be ok for now. My temps so far go from 30 to 41 degrees Celsius on my CPU, and stay around the same on the gpu's. I haven't ran anything like prime to test the temps out yet, maybe I will in the future, but I don't really have intention on overclocking.

I love the look of those boards. That looks amazing spoony. You should replace the stock gold galaxy fan guard with a silver or painted black one. :). Well, maybe not usually fan guard mods make the general mod look bad, so maybe the gold should stay. Just a thought.
What radiator have you got in there Zeus? is it on the front?
It's a thermochill PA 120.2 with 4x Yate loon push-pull in the front of the case.
You can actually see the 2 illuminated Yate loons in the front in some of the pictures.
A 120.3 should have been better but it's not possible to fit it in unless i bin the optical drive. Not an option really.
I want everything inside the case so i have to make do with this.

Thanks for the replies guys. I am glad you like it.
The radiator is just a swiftech mcr320 QP. I will post pictures of how it is mounted when I get home this afternoon. I really was worried about the EK supreme causing flow problems so I have two MCP355 pumps with XPC res tops in the loop. According the flow rate estimator I am getting about 1.4 gpm.
The case is just a coolermaster cosmos. I painted the inside flat black because I didn't like the metal look on the inside.

This is the best picture I have as to how I mounted the radiator. I just cut a piece out that would allow air to flow through the entire radiator and drilled holes to mount it. You can also see where I cut a spot in the bottom to house the pa120.2. My rookie building, modding, wc'ing showed up when I started to put the two loops in only to find out it wasn't going to work the way I wanted it to. I ended up having to fabricate a piece to cover up the hole I had cut in the bottom.

Thanks, my temps are great. With this E8400, the core reading seem to be buggy. So i go by the "CPU" temp (Tcase?). At stock voltage and clocks, my temp goes up 1c on load. At 4ghz, it goes from 21c to 36c.

It's black feser one coolant with tygon tubing. There are two mcp355 pumps in the loop, both have the xspc res tops. I actually had the bitspower compression fittings for the thick walled 1/2 tubing to use, but they don't fit past the graphics card on the back of the gpu water block so I decided to use the high flow fittings I had. Before I refill the loop I will try and get some extensions so I can use those fittings.

Thanks

04-03-2008, 10:25 AM
I originally had bitspower compression fittings, but changed them to bitspower high flow fittings. The change wasn't because of any issues with xspc top though, so if you prefer those fittings they will work fine.

How does the paint hold?
Is it scratch resistant?
I've done mine as well but the paint is prone to flake off if handled too careless.
I think the primer is to blame, acid etchprimer would have been better i reckon but that doesn't come in spraycans as it is 2 components.
Nice job on your case btw. ;)

clear coat will solve most any flaking issues, as will a good self etching primer or a well prepped case with a normal prime.
