I still think the Zalman reserator housing looks damn hot.
I should see if I can find a broken one to turn into an external rad enclosure.

Two things that bother me about the Feser, limited lifetime between coolant changeouts (1 yr or less recommended) and the toxicity. But the color sure is nice and I'm guessing temps are pretty nice.
Give's and take's I guess. Feel like a bug drawn to that color though :)

Don't say I didn't warn you.
Trust me dude, it'd take quite the force to get 7/16" off barbs. If they're nylon barbs like Swiftech uses (grr), then theres NO WAY IN HELL they're coming off "accidentally," unless you think picking up your case by a tube and shaking it is accidentally.
azn_bboy07
02-25-2008, 06:09 PM
that tubing gave me a hard time to push in and pull out, especially on the D5 inlet and outlet. but so far nothing is leaking i'm happy, however i'm appreciated from your concern.
lennox
02-26-2008, 12:13 AM
heh, I just put 3/8" ID R-3400 on my D5 (with a heat gun) and put zip ties on there just to mock myself. the rest of the system is clamp free... that tubing is practically glued on the barbs by now lol

Just a quick question...
Anyone here had some experience with Koolance products. I dont see many people using Koolance, but their stuff looks so nice. Really good quality, excelent engineering, and just so pretty. Why dont we see more of it going around. Im planning to get myself a whole bunch of Koolance products, +- 800 Euros worth... Ill put up some pics soon as Im done with my build.

I'd rather get EK stuff. Really good quality, excellent engineering, and just so pretty. but made of COPPER not ALUMINUM.:D

First of all: koolance products don't look nice, it's definitley not a quality product like thermochill, ek, swiftech or others. and engineeringwise it doesn't worth a damn. If you want to spend like 800 euros on a product that looks awfull and the most important, performs bad, then you really have to read more on this pages.
A friend of mine once bought a Koolance kit.....since then he never saw a naked girl again.

WAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA @ dnb#.... Im feel so sorry for your freind!!! He He!!!
Koolance stuff isnt all ALUMINUM... its 24K GOLD plated COPPER where it counts thermally and corrosively (If theres such a word)... and ANODIZED ALUMINUM where it counts asthectily. Go take a look.
CPU Block - CPU-330 - http://www.koolance.com/water-cooling/product_info.php?product_id=402
MB Block - CHC-120 - http://www.koolance.com/water-cooling/product_info.php?product_id=437
ATI Block - VID-385 - http://www.koolance.com/water-cooling/product_info.php?product_id=578
The EK stuff is also really nice, id just like the looks of the Koolance stuff more. But Im also wondering why more people arent using it. Is it maybe the price... cuase theyre not cheap. But there are some of us that money is no object. So why are more people using Koolance. Im just thinking out loud.

your going to get bashed soo much for using koolance, just that alone would be enough reason to go with something else...
people generally dont use koolance b/c of its value. comparing it to other companies, koolance is the McDonald of the WC world... mainstream (noob/ill informed) killers.
for the price you would get a more killer build else were

doesnt the lack of usage tell you something about the product?

I suppose you got a point...
Who else make Gold Plated Blocks, that i could standardise with.
I had a bad experience with a previous build regadring corrosion.
My pipes started turning yellow... looked really gross.
Also I would like all components to look Stainless Steel Like...
since everthing I have is pretty much Black and Silver.
Any Suggestion?
Is Black & Silver.
evil-98
02-27-2008, 09:38 AM
well if you standardize on copper (the good stuff) you wont have to put any effort into preventing corrosion and you can focus on the important parts. looking good and performing well. now if your tubes were stain its probably something in your liquid. stainless steel like? well if everything you got is black in silver, your in luck. b/c pretty much all WC componets come in that scheme, disregarding the copper base.
suggestions?
ek, swiftech, DD, thermochill, hwlabs, dtek, etc.
sargatanas
02-27-2008, 09:44 AM
well there is no use of gold or silver plated coolers...
if u want some bling bling cooler, go and get a bar of gold or sterling silver and find some1 who builds a cooler...
sure, a pure sterling or even gold block would perfom the best...but kinda expensive.
pure copper cooler are the best choice and u wont have problems with corrosion if u would use the right cooling fluid
if u want black or silver coolers, take the ek blocks with delrin or nickel plated.
koolance...is just wasting money

Trust me, DO NOT GET KOOLANCE!!!!! Unless you like galvanic corrosion.... Also, do not believe anything that claims that it will stop corrosion. Some may slow it, but nothing will stop it. For recommendations, I HIGHLY endorse EK waterblocks. They are overall very good performers and are pure sex in looks. Avoid any blocks that use metal that is not copper, brass, or nickel plated. Never ever use aluminum, it is inferior at transferring heat and will corrode. Plating can also be stripped over time from aluminum, so just avoid it in water cooling setups completely. Please take time to read the stickies, they will help greatly. I was in your shoes 5 years ago and am glad that I listened to the forum members here. Hope my rant helps.

LOL, beat me to it.
I hope supa-fly gets our point now ;)
Just buy an EK set of blocks just as sargatanas said. It's a fact EK performs better and looks much better too, which is a little fact too ;) Then you could buy a thermochill rad which is absolutely the best performer for an quiet and cool solution. With some 1200rpm fans on it, like YL's or Noctuas.
listen to what I'm saying: with that stuff you're way better off then using a brand we all laugh at. :)

Yeh man... Im really reconsidering...
Thanks alot... REALLY!!!!
I Like that D-Tek Fusion Block...
Pitty D-Tek dont have an all in one 3850
For now Im considering going EK
With a EK-Supreme - Acetal...
With a EK-FC3850 CF Acetal (2nd one later when I get an additional HD3850)...
And a EK-NB4 intel - Acetal...
What Im planning to do.
Ive got a CM Stacker 830
Im planning to mount 3 RADS...
Dual RAD under the top fan oppening...
Single RAD at the back fan oppening...
And a Tripple Rad mounted under the case (Will have to cut out section)
Then having a single loop system with each RAD between Blocks (RAD Block RAD Block RAD Block)
Obviously Id need a pretty strong pump, so im still looking for something.
Now I know this might sound Over Kill... But I like Over Kill.
Im also planning on placing a 288 Watt TEC attached to the loop with an additional block to chill the liquid passing though. The TEC will be cooled with a CM Geminni Fan Cooler.
I will have to carefully plan this whole thing since I have 8 HDD's and with me DVD writer completely fills up my Drive bays, so i wont have space to hide pumps and so on in there. Im a bit of a neat freak... so Ill have to do it really nicely.
This guy is doing something similar to what I want to do.

Ok,
So I have my system up and running, however I think I will be making some changes. I will probably change the color of the coolant to red, I think it will look way better. And I am going to change the lights to red also, but till then here is a couple of pics. This is my first true w/c system and I am maintaining less than 60 degrees celsius (ambient is 72 degrees faranheit) under load of P95 and Everest running at the same time.
My specs are:

As it's a simple question, I think there's no reason for a new topic...here you go:
I bougth a MCW60 to put my GTS G92 on water, but the MCR320 can't handle the heat with the San Aces @ 5v on hot days.
http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/2623/dsc09278cm5.jpg
Just bought a MCR120 to mount on exaust Fan. The loop order was:
Res -> pump -> MCR320 -> FuZion -> MCW60 -> Res
And now will be like that:
Res -> Pump -> MCR320 -> FuZion -> MCR120 -> MCW60 -> Res.
What should I expect? Lower temps on VGA only, or CPU too? If someone tried that, please show your results :)
Thanks!

Just installed my watercooling system over the past few weeks. Its the first MAJOR mod I've done yet.
I have to say the original rev of the P180 is a HUGE pain to modify and cable management is even worse.
Specs:
Core2 Duo X6800
Antec P180 (first rev)
xfx 8800gt
P5W DH Deluxe
500W Enermax Liberty
2x Yate loon orange 120mm slow speeds
1x stock trispeed P180 fan set on low.
Cooling kits:

(1) Swiftech MCW60-R GPU Waterblock
(1) Laing DDC-3.2 Pump w/Petra'sTech DDCT-01s Acetal Top
(1) Swiftech MCR220-QP Dual 120mm Radiator
(3) Yate Loon D12SL-12120mm x 25mm Fans

(1) 1/2" OD Polypropylene T-Fitting
(12) Stainless Steel Worm-Drive Hose Clamps
(1) Danger Den Machined Acetal Fillport/T-Line Cap
Modifications included:
-Cut radiator sized hole in the top of case
-Cut 2 holes near top of motherboard to allow better cable management.

-Add black trim around radiator
-Paint the the beige dvd player faceplate black.
-Install felt bottomed feet to allow case to slide easier.

In addition to the case being a pain to mod, my CPU stopped working (between taking the parts out and booting it back up) and I ripped a capacitor off of my 7900gt. Luckily I hadn't lapped the processor yet so it was under warranty and I was planning to get a new GPU in a few month.

Looks good. I think your wire management looks good considering you have large power cables like I do and they are hard to hide. I am not sure how people run their power cable under the mother board. Mine is nearly 1" thick and there is no way it would fit under my motherboard without major modification or bending the board. Sucks about your processor and video card, now you have a good reason to upgrade to a newer card like the 9600GT, :D.

I actually ended up getting a xfx 8800gt 512. But... I'm thinking about getting a super fine solder tip and try to get the capacitor back on to ebay or craigslist it.

Also, fitting the side back on was a real pain without causing warping of the sidepanel. I had to dremel the plastic on some of the molex connections down a little thinner so the side wouldn't bow. (Bowing P180 panels isn't pretty.) I'll try to put up a picture of my current cables, but my rev1 version is below:

Ok,
So i made a few minor changes like swapping out my coolant. Tell me what you think, obviously it isn't as nice as some of the ones on here, but I like to think of it as form with function. I am currently running at 3.6Ghz (8x450fsb) and my temps are at 37 celcius at idle and 55 celsius with Everest and P95 running. My ambient is around 23 celsius. I will take any criticism or suggestions and do what I can.
Thanks for looking,
Utnorris
P.S. This is my first true w/c system, I don't consider my Swiftech H120 compact that I ran for less than 2 weeks a true w/c system.

Did it not work out so you changed to a different reservoir?

I am trying to get everything into an ANTEC 900 junk case (please no one else buy one of these...I gave $40 and after taking it apart I thought DAMN $39 too much)

You wouldn't happen to have some pictures showing how you modded that TT case to put that radiator on top. Does it interfere with the door over the top ports? After taking a close look at mine I'd guess it does. What are you using to mount it with?

Sure, I havnt drilled the holes yet since i diddent have the right drills at the time but im also trhinking about getting new screws cause either the screws arent wide enough or screwholes on the rad are verry crap cause 2 out of 4 are realy wobly and unstable and dont even go in far enough!. If other screws dont sort it ill prolly take off the top and mout it with 1 or 2 fans on top of eachother

My current water cooling system:
D-Tek Fuzion CPU block
Swiftech MCW30 chipset block
Swiftech MCR-220 radiator
Swiftech Hi-Flo Reservoir
Laing D5 variable 12v pump
Masterkleer 7/16" ID clear tubing (8 feet)
Swiftech HydrX & distiled water
Vantec 53cfm, 28dBa, 120mm 'Stealth' fans on radiator
Flow order: res-pump-rad-cpu-nb-res
Martins estimated flow rate: 2.08 GPM!
I replaced an old Swiftech Apogee GT CPU water block with the better flowing D-Tek Fuzion and removed a Swiftech MCW60 on a x1900xtx, as a result both my flow rates and cooling capacity have increased.
I know I need a bigger case but I just cant pry myself from my Lexa. :p:

Hello everyone. I have been a long long time lurker on here. But, have never posted. Here is my latest watercooled system:

I have a access to a paint shop so I painted the case. However, I have recently acquired a Soldam Windy case that I am going to transfer my system to. I may have to lose the dual loop setup and maybe even just watercool the cpu, leaving the gpu to air.

BTW, :welcome: to XS!!!!
Thanks for the warm welcome!
Wow Brian! Looks freaking great! I have that same case and i never thought i would see someone watercool this case! Great management of the watercooling gear in and on the case!
Thanks man and I am loving your MM UFO! I have always been a sucker for chrome on black.
The Lexa is not water cooling friendly at all but I was due to change my fluid anyway and I was up in the air as to which case to get so I made it work.
I have been looking at that Cosmos S but I hear NZXT is coming out with a new full tower that will accommodate a 220mm radiator and from what I hear it will be around the $100 price point. So it will be interesting to see what the options will be in the coming months.
I know everyone has done the green coolant to death but when I was ordering a parts no one had any of that spiffy red Feser one in stock, so I busted out the trusty $3 of Hydrx, after all the last bottle lasted me a full year with out issues.
One thing I did learn was how nice those metal 1/2" barbs are, I ordered a set for my NB block to match the D-Tek and man are they allot easier to push on 7/16" tubing, even though I soften the ends in hot water those stupid plastic Swiftech barbs just plain suck.
Question on the the tubing guys, does the Tygon stay clear over time? I noticed using the Swiftech Hydrx my Masterkleer tubing turns cloudy after a few months.

Nah, it won't stay clear forever... It might last a bit longer clear than the Mastekleer tho. IMO, there is nothing like Tygon Tubing... I hate that Masterkleer tubing.

I have ditched the dual loops... and the case for that matter, selling it currently. I was able to get a Soldam Windy black aluminum case that is smaller and a bit more elegant I think. I have also updated my vid card from the 8800gtx to a 3870x2 (want to eventually do crossfirex). I have also sold off/traded most of the 2nd loop parts.
My new setup will be just one loop. I have not decided yet if I will do the 3870x2 and CPU or just the CPU. I am going for looks on this build and it depends what I can fit into the case neatly.

The holes were very clean. No need for filing, but I touched up with emery cloth, as the edge is very sharp. It's a shearing action, and it leaves a very sharp edge. Leaves a perfect hole in Lian-li's aluminum.
The straight cuts were done with a jigsaw with a decent metal blade. Let's just say that it was 25% jigsaw, and 75% filing.

Very nice build, RAID, I'm impressed. It looks like a machine from the future :)
does that bolt on to a drill or is it some sort of hand tool?
Its' a hand tool. You need a 3/8" pilot hole to get the center pin through. Once the punch is assembled with the flange on one side of the material, and the 'bite' side on the other, the center pin is tightened with a ratchet until it pops a slug out of the material.

raid that is sick mate!!!!!
thanks guys, i really appreciate the comments.
to address a couple of the questions, i'm using the Danger Den Torture Rack which is more of a test bench than a case. i really like it because of how versatile it is and did not have to drill one hole to mount both loops. plus the tubing runs are very short while the draining, filling and bleeding of the system is very easy thanks to the ek multi option reservoirs.
i'm using the yate loon D12SL-12 fans from petra's.
and i won't be moving this case around at all so LAN parties are out of the question.
again, thanks for the comments. smee, hurry up and get your parts!
