It's not placed directly on the pump.
You have to use 1/2inch tube to connect it with the pump.

Here's my 2nd attempt at water cooling, this time with the ever-popular TJ07 case.

Swiftech blocks for CPU and NB, PA120.3 in the base, MCP655 pump and an EK150 reservoir. Liquid is Feser Aqua pure distilled water with Feser View blue dye.

As I've taken most of my ideas from other builds posted here, the layout may seem familiar to many of you :p:. Probably the only thing different to most builds is the HDD module mod. I got the idea from AndyM, and took a Lian-Li module and modded it so the cables run at the front of the case. If anyone is interested in the mod, let me know and I'll post some pics in a separate thread.

Well, onto the case:

Great build, ladderman.

A question : where did you hide the SF800 ?

Thanks mate.

I haven’t added the SF800 yet because I’m in the middle of finding out the max overclock. I want to record the temps at different speeds, so when I do add it I’ll know how much effect it has on the temps.

I put a joint in the length of tubing that goes from the PA to the Fuzion, so all I have to do is drain that part of the loop, remove the joint and put the SF800 in it’s place. The red arrow indicates where it will be.

You’ve done a great job there, but I hope you don’t mind pointing out that you haven’t used any Zip ties or worm drives.

It might be a good idea to use something to make sure your tubing doesn’t move and give you a leak.

I don't mind you mentioning it :)

I'm using 7/16" tubing over 1/2" fittings, so it's pretty tight. I realise I'm taking a bit of a risk, but so far the connections seem good. I'll certainly keep an eye on them though. I'm hoping to move to compression fittings in the future.

I like what you've done with your case. Given me some more ideas :D.

I’ll give you a couple of links to work logs, one shows how I top mount a Rad without drilling any holes through the top of the case. The other is for the full build of my first TJ07 build with a 680i SLI board

I’ve mounted the Rad with the fans on top this time because it makes it easier to remove the mobo tray.

You did a great job with the 343B, I’ll be using one on my next build which will have three loops.

I also realise now that the Lian-Li casters come with rubber protectors for the wheels. Never realised , which is why I haven't considered them until now (don't have carpets here). Well, as they say, a water cooled PC is never finished, so I'll add that to my list of 'things to do' :D.

Darn man, the case would have been perfect if the hardware was black. It's really a pitty to have green hardware in such a case as that. But what the hell, the work you have done on the case is really good, so it kinda compensates the pcbs. Also, when using the computer, the case is closed so you will not be able to look into it so much.

Lol, I washed the FC8800 block 2 days ago and it's worse than this. Like you, I didn't clean the PA120.3 sufficienly.

To remove this dirt, you need to use vinegar with salt first to remove the tarnish and show the copper. After this, rinse with water and arm & hammer to neutralize the vinegar then rinse thoroughly.

HotGore, nice and clean there mate :D
Sometimes you can start wondering why thermochill won't clean the rads in factory. I mean, of course there are beginners out there that aren't aware of the dirtyness of these rads, which basically makes their loops doomed from the beginning. Also the rads are quite expensive, so I think you could expect a little bit better painjob and a rinse.

From what I hear they are considerably cheaper in the UK, and they sell them at a razor thin margin here in the US and other countries due to all of the import fees, etc.

Hey rbsmontemor, Nice piccys...

Your "X48" is really a X48 chipset ?? i havn't seen any members of the public with them yet .. if thats a x48 can you give us some oc results ... seen a few but most are "SAMPLES" which are never really reliable stats..

I don't know if it's X48 chipset. We all know that X48 is a handpicked X38...they are the same chip. I'll never know if it's X48 coz' it uses the X38 bios.

And don't matters for me, x38 = x48 = I like it :)

I had another GA-X38-DQ6 and both are good clockers...so far identical results.

I have that problem too, but it takes me too much mess and time to put all back apart and together again...

So I just close my eyes, turn off cathodes and led's and let it run until I have to dust it. And yes, I could always put another WC part inside, no matter I don't need one. But that's just me.

I would reccomend that you slide the MCRES further up the mounting bracket so that the pump is being gravity fed rather than having to suck the fluid in. Just a thought.

Ok,
I was supposed to have this done today, but I have to work, so it won't be done until probably sometime next week. Until then here is a teaser of my case. I need to add the cpu back in after lapping it along with the video card and then the water cooling system once I have leaked tested it. I will give you all the details once it is done, but this is essentially my first w/c build. Sorry for the low rez, but I had to resize them so they would upload.

As long as the water in it is higher than the pump, there will be no problem at all.

Yeah, just spray painted it. It came out better than I thought it would. Once it is mounted I think it will really pop. I bowed the Apogee, so I am excited to see what type of temps I get once this is all done. I will lap the processor tomorrow and get my loop filled and start the 24 hour test. Anyway, this will all be for not if the performance isn't there. :D

Ok,
So I need some opinions on the color of the coolant for the case. I haven't filled the loop yet, so I can change my mind if I decide too. Right now I was thinking of blue with the idea that it wouldn't blend in and get lost. However, I don't know if that will look good or not. Here are a couple of other ideas for the coolant color:

1 - blood red.

2 - straight distilled water no coloring.

3 - straight distilled water and color tubing. Either red or blue.

4 - black.

Let me know what you guys think.
Thanks,

it seems to hold under load very good...
my 8800GT at 740-1836-939 has 30 idle and 33 load...
unfortunately i cannot see the temps on my 8400 because of the bad sensor...:(

Got really tired of my old loop, so had to re do it. Esp tired of the micro res, ugh. So i got myself an ek res, cute little thing. Also got tired of my rad pulling in tons of dust so moved it to the front instead.
sorry for the craptastic pics, taken with my cellphone cam.

old loop:

http://img105.imageshack.us/img105/1098/dsc00393zm9.jpg

new loop, work in progress. :p: the res is hanging from a couple of stripes, the pump is just resting on the petrastech gelpad thingy, cable management, sleeving, the paint on the inside is in pretty bad shape, etc hehe. I've repainted it on the outside, got some more work (the top "cap" is gonna be painted black etc), but I like the white/black combo so far..

AND i'm fed up with the 1/2" masterkleer. it's a paint to work with. gonna order some 3/8" tygon and compression fittings and get it over with. and drop the rheobus for something more clean, cause it looks like crap hehe

I like what you did with the 690, especially the cover for the drive bays. How is the airflow with the rad at the bottom like that?

Thanks,

Just excellent really. I have 2 noctua fans on the top (120mm) that are taking in and taking out air, also my videocard takes out hot air from the rad.

Best about my setup is that i have a EXCELLENT Q6600 ;) check out the next screenshot:

Friggin sweet dude!!!! So you do not have a fan on the bottom res just the top one, correct? I am trying to figure out how to add an additional mcr220 to my system and I already have 1 mcr120 rad/res that I was using, so your build gives me a couple of ideas.

Thanks,

haha ;) no i do have a fan on the bottom of the rad that blows air UP into the rad and into the case (but the Cm 690 has a fan hole on the bottom on the case so that's why it works out so well ;))

I'm currently thinking about gettin an black ice xtreme dual rad to put on the back of my pc to cool the rest of my computer, this should also give me more overclock potential on my Q6600. Although i use ln2 for the extreme clocks :P

I don't think they perform as good as the Fuzion block. It's more the look of the blocks. They have a pretty awsome outfit. :)

Indeed, but i just have a Magicool Waterblock http://www.magicool.biz/Magicool/images/CPU%20Block/CPU%20Kuehlkoerper.jpg so they still better than mine. Maybe I'll change to a 1A-SL2 to have better performance i think...
