It is in Hellmouth with QX9650 under modded phase change. The 780i and tri SLI are temp until I get dual procs for my Skulltrail mobo and a 4th 8800 GTX . . .and until DD (hopefully they will let me help) works out a way to cool all 4 GPUS on the Skulltrail . . .card spacing is tight . . .also gonna use my phase unit to waterchill the Skulltrail's two CPUS.

My new DayWalker build will have dual 780i rigs in one case and either SLI or TRI SLi depending on what GPUS come my way ;)

quad sli? what mb supports that? i didn't know that any nvidia chipsets can do that...

I mirror both those comments! I've got mine all planned but the case i want isn't in stock at kustompcs.co.uk untill the middle of jan :( (lian-li a71) but the only bonus is that yesterday i wanted to buy a new laptop but staples didnt reserve it for me (although i called them  ) so now i have the money for my watercooling (Ģ500 :D )

what is that pump like deepsilver? i've been stuck between that and a dcc1

My pump is an AquaComputer AquaStream XT Ultra. :D

Yeah and how are the two 90 degree entry/exit ports? Normally they significantly hurt flowrate..

I think that's not a big problem, but I have not tested it yet. ;)

Darth Beavis,

Kindly confirm for sure that the DD blocks are single slot solutions, and that the slots in between the video cards are fully usable. I have an itch to pull the trigger on the DD blocks, despite all the smack talk going on about these blocks.

I myslef would like to know how the connections work on the fouth GTX card. I now understand how to rig three GTX cards even without the new SLI connector, but the fourth video card just escapes me. Plus I hear that the drivers out now are supposed to work.

Four 9800 GTXes on a Skull Trail and two QX9775s with eight cores will be a hoot!!

biggest problem with the DD blocks is that your barbs screw into a piece of plexi instead of the copper like EK. I've had two and both leaked at the plexi barbs

How do you connect your two stacked cases ? I'm highly interested in that arrangement. Do you drill through the floor of the top case and through the ceiling of the bottom case?

Many thanks / Danke

DarthBeavis,

It looks like the much ballyhooed quad SLI is on its way, but only in the form of a 9800GX2 style card (remember the 7950GX2?). This time, quad SLI is going to work properly and work well. I got burnt the last time.

Pure speculation but there are lots of circulating rumors that Six-Way SLI will be coming as well, eventually. You obviously know that, because most the rumors are on NV's forums, no doubt hyped by the company itself.

The Skull Trail mobo's fourth PCI-E slot would not be useful because of the dual slot nature of the GX2 card.

The Chinese talk about a February 19th date. Warning that this is speculation (with all due respect to the Mainland Chinese) and that the release date may distinctly be an Asian release date, and as usual, the rest of the world sucks wind for one month before getting access to the toys.

http://en.expreview.com/?p=133

What am I? A fool? You probably have the cards at home already, beta testing them rofl :)

sargatanas
12-30-2007, 08:32 AM
well the bottom case has a huge hole without the plate which is normally mounted.
http://www.pc-cooling.de/images/products/600084300/600084300-6_gr.jpg

I changed the plate from the upper tower aswell so I was able to use a dual radiator at the top.
http://www.pc-cooling.de/images/products/300100109/300100109_gr.jpg

then I drilled a huge hole at the right part in the floor of the upper case where the psu takes place. the hole is big enough for all the hdd cables, tube etc.
wasnt that difficult...looks a bit messy atm but I think I should make some pictures of the right parts of each tower.
makes it easier to understand the mounting since my engl. is quite poor atm ^^
the loops run through both towers, since the bottom chamber is only for testing atm

Thank you very much.

Do you use nuts and bolts to fasten the two cases, use velcro, or use nothing because the cases are so heavy ?

sargatanas
12-30-2007, 01:43 PM
well 3x 8mm bolts on the left and 3 on the right side. is quite enough since the towers weight too much to carry it, think 'bout 50kg.

@ IanY. . .Single slot bro. Slots inbetween are usuable if the card is not tall. These blocks perform and I have numbers to prove it. My understanding is no connector needed for quad.
@ lennox . . .yes, that is an issue

I am waiting for a pump to arrive so I can change my setup to waterchill using the phase change unit. I was unable to get a good seating on the CPU on this board so my temps sucked.

DarthBeavis,

I think I'm going to skip 780i. My first EVGA board was flaky so I RMAed it. I just found out that my Asus 680i will boot a Yorkfield just fine, so I'll stick with that for now, especially when it works for Tri.

I hope to step up to Skull Trail when it gets available.

Can you advise me as to how you manage to fit two Vapochill units inside your (presumed) 22 inch Mountain Mods cube? Or do you have two stacked cubes? I'm also assuming that you use two Vapchill Litespeed units or you have the Jinu VapoLi modified units.. Am I right?

Now, I hear that they are creating new format cases with 8 slots, presumably to accomodate Skull Trail's four gpus. So, you are saying that the Skull Trail will take four standard GTX-style cards without any SLI connectors, and that the magic will come together via software, right ?

However out of the hundreds of SilenX fans that have moved through my hands I have had several obnoxious failures. Leaking oil from the mylar seal/sticker is one particularily annoying failure. But usually the failure is just that the fans make a clicking noise of some kind...or the LEDs fail...

I did have one CPU cooler fall apart....that was a real pisser.

But mainly I encountered a prejudice towards them from people that have never even used them. SO I stopped stocking them all together.

I myself have a prejudice against Yate Loons and refuse to use them so there!

have you not seen the size of his chin .. he can take it

tbh i have got 3 silenex 80mm fans from 2/3 years ago and thats where my prejudice comes from. all 3 seem to have developed a rattling noise and its almost like the fan has come loose from the chassis

How do you think I lost that one eye :p:

Yep I got that exact same failure. They just don't last for a long time...and they are not really suitable (too low static pressure) for high density finned radiators.

On a PA type rad the deep body fans work pretty good though.

My personal favorite fan for ANY watercooling set up is the Sanyo Denkei SanAce 1011 103.5 CFM fan. It's really a superior fan.

That's odd because I consider a fan "failure" to be where it simply doesn't work anymore. I've got "leakers" that burned off all the oil they could and have been running 24/7 without so much as a peep out of them for well over 9 months now. I took it as "excess" oil burning off, but if it's everything from inside the bearing chamber, I'm fairly certain that I'd hear a noise of some kind (rattle, click, squeal) by now, which simply isn't the case.

I've said before that I won't recommend them for rads, but if you've already got them, they do make nice case fans. I've got more than I'd like to admit having, most are scheduled for use (as I have 5 ongoing builds), some were for cases that have outlived their usefulness ( but may still find life as MOSFET or RAM coolers).

@ IanY . . .I am actually using a single modifed Vapochill and using it to waterchill both CPUS (well, I will once my cpus come in). I am making a pimp setup for it (tubing in polished conduit with foam insulation sprayed in.

For fans . . .I actually use Yates and SilenX in builds depending on the color scheme . . .Yate for blue cause they are cheaper, otherwise SilenX. For Autopsy I used all AC Ryan. The SilenX's are really quiet in Hellmouth. Just wish they were not so spendy.

CyberDruid, would you recommend those San Aces and running them at 7V as opposed to running a 50cfm or so fan that already runs pretty silent at 12V? High cfm will help during the hot summers, but otherwise I'd want things to be pretty damn silent, if the San Aces are just that at 7V heh.

Alphacool 1510 in the new kid on the block...kicking butt too.

With the external adjustable DC voltage converters (12, 15, 18, 21 and 24 Volts) you may adapt the delivery rate of your pump to your own configuration. The 1500 litres which are achieved at the highest level satisfy even the most pretentious expectations.

The pump is attached at the transformer, and the transformer at the power pack of the PC.

NO 115/230V connection is needed! The extra power cable is superfluous as the pump turns on/off automatically with the PC.

This centrifugal pump is conceived for the thoroughgoing continuous use. The pump sells with 36 months warranty. Due to the G1/4" internal screw thread, the pump is compatible with all types of connections.

Specifications:

Powered by OASE !
Pump performance: max. 1500 l/h
Delivery height: 6m
Power consumption: 17 W
Connection: G1/4"-connections
Sound level: approx. 21-35 dBA
Dimensions L x W x H: 115 x 100 x 80 mm
DC-voltage converter L x W x H: 118 x 75 x 60 mm
Weight: ca. 720g

 I thought it was either 9W or 18W and I thought that was the 18W (DDC 3.2, MCP-355) because of the blue impeller (same as my MCP-355).

Now, can't decide one loop or two. (needed temps 3C lower to keep 4 ghz orthos stable at my normal ambients)

While waiting for second pump, I added mcr220 to single loop setup in sig, load temps decreased by 4-5C, (they decrease ~7 on load when remove ultra). I am still getting 1.3 gpm (fills 1 gallon jug in 46.5 seconds x 3tests) with 9W DDC through everything (got 2.02GPM when just tested through tubing). Maybe will just keep second pump for spare, or wait til go quad for two loops.

@Malik: Amazing sistem, don't like the flurescent green all that much, but i love the custom backplates. :yepp:

@disruptfam: Great looking sistem and obvious effort on the tri-loop WC configuration, but i can't help to think that it would look even better with some smaller tubing and a bit better tube management, but that's just me.

Cheers mate... I choose the 7/16 tubing because i don't like the look/perf of the smaller tubing... tubing doesn't look as big as it does in pic.. oh and routed the tubing the shortest way possible probably could of done it a tad cleaner but im happy with it...

now that you have such a massive w/c setup I hope that Q6600 freq. is just old data, and that you made it to 3.6+, am I right? :D

Working on overclocks atm... highest i can get my (b3) is 3.5ghz atm... Temps are high so are ambients so i won't try any higher for now

Too bad i don't have a g0 chip hey... ;)

does anyone know how or where i can find out how to flip the motherboard tray in my TJ07?

I'm just starting to install water cooling into my TJ07 and have almost totally dismantled the case. You may notice that almost everything can be removed from the frame as it's all screwed in.

There are also additional screw holes for placing the motherboard tray on the other side.

Basically, after removing the motherboard tray, you would need to remove the 2 vertical supports for the 5 1/4" bays, then the horizontal panel. The motherboard tray guide rail at the top can be removed and screwed into the other holes at the top of the case (remember to rotate the rail first). This then leaves the other guide rail on the horizontal panel. Unfortunately, this rail is riveted , but there are holes on the other side to mount the rail . Drill out the 4 rivets and then mount the rail in the other holes. You'll need to find some way to attach this rail - best way I think would be to tap the 4 holes so that you can screw/bolt it in (the aluminium plate is 2mm thick, so should provide sturdy fixing). You can reinstall the horizontal panel and then the 2 vertical panels.

If you're still unsure, I'll try and post some pics of where everything should go.

Haha, actually I need to order some more tubing so that I can put my Accelero and ramsinks back on. I redid my loop and cut things too short, and ended up having to remount the stock cooler. They're sitting here on my desk getting dusty but I probably won't get around to it until I get some more orders filled. :p:

sorry to bring up the Murderbox again but it was the main case that inspired me... just one of the many questions i have about it is.... how do you mount the 3 Hard Drives verticly in the 5.25" drive bays as you can see in the top left hand corner of this pic below??

im trying to ask what brackets are used?

kinghong1970
01-08-2008, 06:09 AM
i'd think any bracket that enables you to mount a HDD in a 5.25 bay should do...

you're probably going to drill anyways, you will want to mount 3 HDD vertically, no? kinda waste of space to mount only 2 there...

Depending on your ability to sem-mass produce, you might want to consider selling some to Petras tech or something....there is a definite need for rad mounting solutions, and that one is superior to the Swiftech Radbox in many ways.....

Thats a nice bracket, much better than the Radbox I am using, the Radbox barely gives me room for DVI cables into the GFX card..

It looks like an Asus Fusion block that comes as standard with high end Asus motherboards.
I have a similar thing on my Asus Maximus Extreme...

Primoflex. I don't generally use it. Too big. I just have quite a bit left.

EDIT: The bend radius of the stuff is great. Sure beats the Tygon R3603 3/8in 1/2od stuff i just bought.

Hello All :)

i have been reading the threads on XS for the past few months now and all your cases has inspired me soo much that i desided to join the site...

sorry to bring up the Murderbox again but it was the main case that inspired me... just one of the many questions i have about it is.... how do you mount the 3 Hard Drives verticly in the 5.25" drive bays as you can see in the top left hand corner of this pic below??

thanks in advance

I think this (http://www.mountainmods.com/120mm-hard-drive-rack-black-anodized-p-415.html) might work? :)

nice rig

like to see ppl still rockin the s939 :)

Like the base. You should consider buffing out the copper parts: they would look a lot more attractive.

yeah , or covering the copper in something nice , like shower hosing

yes it's right!!!

but i don't have a free time to paint or hosing the copper tube... :(

Wow, I like those hard lines! Great job!

Hi napass Love the hard lines :D
