looks like pump/rad is in the section below... lian li case i think. i love the clean white look (actually what i'll be doing except with blue colored coolant). UV would ruin the cleanliness of it. :D
ka lok => where u have radiator and pump ? Can I see photo ?
Very nice setup, good cable management :) Good work...but with UV it will be great :D
hi guys, sorry it took so long to get back. had to go out and earn my keep so that i can feed my pc tinkering addiction.
Thanx for the kind comments. the case is a silverstone TJ07 and have stuffed most of the kit in the bottom compartment. am waiting for some dtek fire red dye to add a ickle something something to the innards. am hoping its goin to be close to blood red.... am also waiting for a EK waterblock for my 8800 GTX.
The journey was a bit turbulent at the start, screwed 2 holes into pa 120.3 and had to fill with silicone (thanx to Marci for exceptional advice regarding this:clap: ). also ruined previous video card installing EK block, hence nice shiny new 8800 GTX.
Heres some more pics of bottom and back of the darling!!

ka lok....nice setup you have. One suggestion, though. I'd really think about removing the gel pad from under your pump and replacing it with some foam blocks stuck to the underside of the pump.
You'd be quite surprised how much heat is dumped from the underside of Laing pumps and those gel pads, while isolating noise quite well, also insulate the pump into retaining its heat being generated. I was quite surprised to find out how hot my Laing DDC pump was running while sitting on one of those pads.
I since changed over to 3/4" square high density foam blocks--one stuck to each corner....they're 3/4" cubes, actually, and allows at least a bit of air movement under the pump. Made them out of the highest density foam door seal strips I could find at the local hardware store, a pair of scissors, and some double-sided tape.

cheers for the advice  didnt realise the laing pumps produce so much heat. will try find a block of foam somewhere to replace it. will have to do it after i recover from immense drubbing i got from paint balling. ache like a donkey!!!

Does anyone know anyone who has an eVGA 680i with watercooled south bridge and a 8800 GTX? I am trying so hard to find a water block that fits/clears the 8800. I intend to go to a watercooler for the 8800 GTX, but I need to know it's all gonna fit!
i used 2* Swiftech MCW30 on my evga 680i (nb &sb) and a Swiftech Stealth on my 8800gtx :) fits ALL GOOD

Still have a piece of acrylic mirror to run in there to spiff up the bay side and make the loogo stand out..tomorrow.

2.5tb of additional storage (yellor and green sata conenctions :P in the pic)
a bfg physx card which was DOA...hmm.. will get a refund and use money towards something else.

I LOVE the two pumps and different colored fluid!!! A couple suggestions from a modding n00b (so take them with a few grains of salt):
1. Paint your PSU or get an acrylic PSU cover from Performance PCs.
2. Cool Sleeve the ENTIRE set of tubing or sleeve none. You can use metal inner sleeves if you need to for the tight bends. Just make the appearance consistent.
3. Toss some blue Yate Loons on that rad for color.

"Just out of curiousity" since when is it mandatory for every one of your posts to either have something mean or sarcastic to say? Where are your builds? Where are your "credentials?" Is it really annoying to you to see more than one post about the same rig? Many of my build logs are longer than this whole thread. Posting a couple of shots of the same rig in different states is hardly a worklog.

Chill out man, post #5217 along with the updates of the one case just struck me as a build log that's all.
You've got skillz, I'll give you mad props for that and don't mean to take anything away from any of your builds.
As for my builds, my "creds"...nothing I have running now is worthy of being put in here as it's ancient hardware by XS standards (heck, I'm posting this on a 531 Preshott :lol2: ). All my old builds, I never took pictures of because I never expected to have an e-nis. I do however, have one in the works (still ancient hardware though) that should prove worthy when I'm done.

Cyberdruid that "reserviour" looks like the little tubes of T virus from the movie resident evil lol
Here is my ghetto setup, you know you love my fan shroud/waterblock, oh dont forget that reserviour. Disenfectent wipe container, a pair of uncle bens rice bowls with duct tape, and a 6 year old maze 2 lol hey it works. I dont have tools at my disposole to make some of the stuff some people make so i just imprivise and use things laying around the house. There look apeal dont look very good but they work just fine. The only thing wrong with my setup is my radiator i think i need a better one or maybe to replace those 92mm fans on it with 120mm ones, because i noticed when my cpu is on load for like an hour in orthos the water starts to get very warm so i dont think the fans are removing enough heat. Altho 1.55v on a opteron puts out a ton of heat

Well this one works fine, i just used some epoxy to seal it up some of the heavy duty stuff from home depot not the cheap stuff you get on computer sites, doesnt leak at all i was actually tho starting to think maybe i hsould put more effort into looks. I mean my computer looks good on the window side but when you look behind it its just a pile of duct tape with a nasty orange/white container lol.
I was looking at some of the plastic containers my mom saves from food ect and i found this little baby bout the same shape as the folgers container but its perfectly clear, i was thinking of sacrificing one of my 80mm fans on the inside of the case in the front which you dont see anyway for its 4 Led's and figuring a way to put those under the container that would be pretty cool i think. This res is also small enough to put in the removing HDD cage's my pc has, so i might move everything internally. The only problemy tho is my case tho it may be a large ATX case the aspire X-navigator it isnt big enough to put my radiator in with those 2 fan shrouds and im also worried about the Internal case temp affecting the water temp so i might just keep that external but mount it on the back of my case or something

The weepage is from the top joint were the flat is "fused" to the cylinder.
What I cannot figure out is how something that is chemically welded can come undone...

Heh man i just thought something cool, that clear bottle combined with this, the little crystal thing on the left, its what i used in my fish tank. It has 3 Led's red/blue/green that switch every second. It usually turns my whole 27 gallon fish tank into a light show just imagine in that clear container next to it lol
I just need to figure out how to mount the thing in my computer. I would have to remove 2 HDD bays, and lower my HDD to the lowest level.
Oh man i could also put some of the fish tank rocks in there, and one of the little plants i have, and make it seems like miniature fish tank inside my computer. Not one of the window mods but something like it lol.

Totally agree on both points. This IS NOT a worklog thread its a GALLERY and if someone wants to show off their modding hard work and ideas, it belongs in its own thread.
Gallery threads are threads to show off FINISHED work..not 'works in progress'. Moderators need to post some rules for this thread because right now its screwed up with unnecessary and boring pics.

Your opinions as to what constitutes a Gallery or Boring or Unneccessary are just like anyone else's opinion--valid only to the originator of the opinion. And like many of the members of this "elite" forum you present your opinions as if they had some sort of authority behind them--which since they are not facts and cannot be proven--do not.
Since when is any case finished? And please show me the boring pics. Please: I am trying to understand how this thread has been defiled. If it's so bad PM the originator of the thread and get him on the stick to clean this up!!!
It's a gallery. What exactly is the definition that makes one picture acceptable and another not? I see no guideline in the first post of this thread as to what should NOT be posted. This makes me highly suspicios of those that post negative comments and have NO WORK TO SHOW.
THere are always those in the peanut gallery that like to shout and harass those on the stage...and all it really does is detract from the overall experience.
I am dead serious about this. I have no problem running worklog threads--I have dozens of them. But when I see a watercooling gallery thread and want to share some pics of LC efforts I cannot understand how my pics of my rigs are any different than pics of anyone else's rigs?
Please explain your POV as I think it is nit picking and TBH smallminded and mean.
And BTW why don't you post some shots of your work instead of complaining about other people showing their work. It seems to me that the poeple posting pics are in general enthused and supportive of each other...while those that post rude comments and so on never have anything to show? Am I wrong?
Put up or shut up I say.
And if this thread is "On a runaway train" by all means PM a mod and set them to work cleansing the extraneuous posts!
IMO the only posts on this thread should be by builders with work to show and comments about that work by fellow enthusiasts.

I think your aquarium idea would need a little class to look right TBH. Perhaps a large diameter cylinder or a 6 bay res or something really out of the ordinary. But I would be concerned about any of the "scenery" getting into the pump!
How about a double-wall aquarium with a real aquarium in the center and the LC in the space between the panes?
I dunno--when it come to LC I think the loop needs to be pure and would hesitate about adding anything except maybe a silver coin or something useful like that to the res...

A case being 'finished' or not is an individual point of view of the builder. However using common sense within context of this thread, it should mean a full and complete watercooled system. I know when I click on the watercooled gallery, I want to see systems not picture of reserviors and styrofoam cups and cutouts.
Since you have no problem with worklogs threads and claim to know what it means, it should be a simple matter of understanding what the difference between a gallery and a worklog thread is.
If you want to share pics of watercooling ideas, that's what the ENTIRE watercooling forum is for...not a gallery for completed systems. Start a new thread and share.
Its very asinine to conclude that "I'm complaining about other people showing their work" and even more sad you don't seem to understand what a gallery is. I've posted my system, but with all the unnecessary and unrelated pictures in this thread, mine and other people's work gets lost with obtuse and excessive non-system posting.
Commenting on other people's systems in a gallery is fine to me, people want to read feedback on their completed work and be proud of it. People want to see systems in a gallery not unnecessary pics of what went on while it was being built..that's what worklogs are for.

Hmm never thought about that a double wall aquarium huh, the outside could be the reserviour and the inside the fancy stuff. Once i remove the 2 hdd bays, i could fit a 8 by 6 cylinder inside. I dunno how i would come up with a double walla aquarium tho, id have to go do some shopping then. What does LC mean btw ? What do you mean by a 6 bay res ? Something the size of 6 HDD bays in size ? Well the container i have now i guess looks small on the camera but it spans about 4. I would need to find something the size of that white res i have but it needs to be clear

A double sided cylinder is easy--two different sizes of tube.
At Dark Prodigy. I am not trying to be argumentative. But there is a general snobby attitude here that irks me. I am not pointing a finger at you or anyone in particular...but there seems to be a mentality here that bashing and trying to rank people into a pecking order is acceptable. To me it is not.

Ya i know how to make a double sided cylinder. I just have no money on me right now so i have to imprivise with what i have. Im gonna try the container you saw first and see what it looks like all hooked up if it doesnt look good ill use a 6" cylinder sippie bottle i found actually looks like your cylinder cept for the innards you have and top. That or a Pine-sol bottle lol i actually like the pine-sol bottle its about 6-7" tall and about 4" wide so its huge, i just cant put anything but water inside due to its little coke bottle top, i can however still put the leds in i can set em underneeth

Well i poked 2 holes put the barbs on and sealed em up, just gatta wait overnight for it to dry and im gonna test for leaks on the outside of my case first. If it works and looks as good as i i was picturing ill probly mount in the my case.

Well, suppose I'll be a very Jonny-come-lately to this whole thing and post my very mild case mod. It's based on a CoolerMaster Mystique 631. It originally was silver but I started out the mod simply because I wanted it to be a shiny, reflective black....not that hair-lined anodizing CM seems obsessed with.
So, off to the races I went. Now understand, I'm 53 and outside of adding case fans to a case, this is my very first mod of any sort.....so please be gentle with your critique. :)
This is how it looked at the beginning:
https://bobscapecodfudge.sslpowered.com/bobscapecodfudge.com/pics/casegrey.jpg
I painted the entire case with a highly metallic Chrysler auto paint.....sanded the case a bit, then used filling primer (instead of etching primer as I wasn't all the way down to bare metal....and etching primer doesn't work too well sprayed over anodizing), and then several coats of paint. After drying for a week or so, I began wet/dry sanding, beginning with 800 grit and progressing up to 2000 grit. I then finished it by buffing with 3M polishing compound, followed by swirl remover, then with glaze. I finished by waxing it all.
This is the result of the work.....unfortunately, it is hard taking pics of it straight on as it's so reflective, it really only shows the metallic part and very little of the shine if a flash is used. But here goes:
https://bobscapecodfudge.sslpowered.com/bobscapecodfudge.com/pics/sidepanel3.jpg
https://bobscapecodfudge.sslpowered.com/bobscapecodfudge.com/pics/panel10.JPG
That was the exterior. The interior got hand polished....as the entire case is aluminum.....and almost all of the interior surfaces polished quite well....but two panels, the rear and the bottom, were anodized, so I just painted them to match the exterior. The rest of the surfaces, though, were hand polished with Mother's Billet Polish....worked very well.
I started with the HD cage...........came out pretty well.
https://bobscapecodfudge.sslpowered.com/bobscapecodfudge.com/pics/case2.jpg
A bit more of the polishing:
https://bobscapecodfudge.sslpowered.com/bobscapecodfudge.com/pics/case4.jpg
I put some engine-turned vinyl around the case's motherboard tray that would be exposed when the mb was in place......and painted the bottom of the case:
https://bobscapecodfudge.sslpowered.com/bobscapecodfudge.com/pics/case_bottom2.jpg
By now I've decided to do a little more than just paint, so I needed a name for the case, as I removed the Mystique name from the case's front. I had an Eagle from the front grille of a 1963 Chrysler Imperial, so decided to play around with it....and eventually mounted it on the case's front and backlit it.
https://bobscapecodfudge.sslpowered.com/bobscapecodfudge.com/pics/led_eagle1.jpg
https://bobscapecodfudge.sslpowered.com/bobscapecodfudge.com/pics/led_eagle2.jpg
Well, got all the parts assembled......used a Gigabyte P35-DS3R motherboard, Xeon X3210 cpu, 1 x 2GB Buffalo DDR2-800 RAM, Radeon X1950 Pro video card, etc., etc. Watercooling was provided by a Swiftech Apogee GTX, Swiftech MCR-320, Swiftech MCW30, Swiftech MicroRes, a Laing DDC2 pump, and 3/8" Tygon R-3603 tubing.
Finished, it looked like this:
https://bobscapecodfudge.sslpowered.com/bobscapecodfudge.com/case/case_front.jpg
I know the slits in the door look rather light, but that's because I kept the front faceplate silver, like this:
https://bobscapecodfudge.sslpowered.com/bobscapecodfudge.com/case/case_door_open.jpg
I used white LED fans on the side and in the rear with red LEDs under the motherboard.....and used an OCZ memory cooler with its blue LEDs:
(Pic with case side off....used flash)
https://bobscapecodfudge.sslpowered.com/bobscapecodfudge.com/case/case_side_off_flash.jpg
(Pic with case side off.....no flash used)
https://bobscapecodfudge.sslpowered.com/bobscapecodfudge.com/case/case_side_off_noflash.jpg
(Pic with case side on......flash used again)
https://bobscapecodfudge.sslpowered.com/bobscapecodfudge.com/case/case_side_on.jpg
In case you're wondering what the pic below is of, first another view of it:
https://bobscapecodfudge.sslpowered.com/bobscapecodfudge.com/case/case_tach1.jpg
That started life as a desk clock, purchased at Summit Racing in Atlanta. I gutted it and fit the working part of a tachometer from a 1976 Fiat Spyder 2000 into the body. Amazingly, the hour markings for the clock almost exactly matched the tach's calibration on the faceplate from the Fiat, so it was just a matter of setting "0", making sure 4K was in the correct place, and marking the numbers in the "correct" positions. The DDC2 has its RPMs just over 4200, and the tach accurately displays it.
https://bobscapecodfudge.sslpowered.com/bobscapecodfudge.com/case/case_tach.jpg
Well, I thought it was neat.
Anyway, that's my Imperial case mod......rather simple, I know, but I don't think it's too bad considering it's my first attempt at it.
Thanks for looking!

For the tach, I took the rpm sensor lead from the pump, attached it to one side of a 3-pin Y adapter, attached the tach lead to the other side of the Y adapter, and plugged the single side to the motherboard for BIOS monitoring of the rpm signal.....and so Everest would have a signal to read.
For the tach, I am admittedly a boneyard junkie and pick up all sorts of stuff whenever I visit one......even if I don't really need it then. The tach from the Fiat was one such item....scavanged the tach, water gauge and oil pressure gauge.....and took them because they were NOT electronic gauges but were instead the old mechanical-type gauges. After I played around with the wiring and figured out what was what wire (all the words were in Italian...so it was plug this in, now plug that in) it has been working great!

C'DaleRider what tubes u use ? I see bend on CPU-NB tube....
The tubing is Tygon 3603 in 3/8" ID-1/2" OD. No matter how I tried to lengthen or shorten the tubing, it always developed a kink, so I put a ziptie where it kinks....about 99% is gone now and really doesn't seem to be hurting my temps.
I'm getting high 50's at load (a Xeon X3210 OC'd to 3.4GHz) and mid-to-upper 30's at idle. I'll take those temps.
I guess the solution is to run the tubing from the upper barb on the cpu block to the NB block, but hate to drain it right now. Probably will get to it eventually, though.

Sorry for the poor quality. I only have a camera phone at the moment.
This is my first build and it was completed over a period of months. I had to keep buying parts b/c I basically forgot what I need for a build, lol. I haven't build a computer since 05 and I had most of the parts on hand and most of it was recycled.
I know its VERY ugly inside. It was originally a very clean build, but as I kept adding stuff, I figured I'd just let the inside go to hell b/c I didn't feel like making it look pretty, especially considering the side of the case stays on 24/7. Its a nice case, but cramped for water cooling, especially w/ a large pump. The only positive about having such a large rad and high performance pump is that I can run prime 95 24/7 w/o turning the fans up and the CPU never reaches a critical temp limit. My house is around 72*F usually, although my room is between 72 and 74*F.
BTW, I do have 3 fans on the radiator. I was waiting for another 2 in the mail at that point.

The more useful it is, the uglier its allowed to be. Theres an equation for it I'm sure.

Yeah, high dynamic range lighting. It's used in games like half life 2 and crysis (I believe? All of the newer stuff mostly). It makes the lighting effects more realistic. Sometimes it can look too white or overexposed.

Thats only one aspect of it. The other really big one (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_dynamic_range_imaging) is in photography.

[IMG]https://bobscapecodfudge.sslpowered.com/bobscapecodfudge.com/case/case_front.jpg
I know the slits in the door look rather light, but that's because I kept the front faceplate silver, like this:
https://bobscapecodfudge.sslpowered.com/bobscapecodfudge.com/case/case_door_open.jpg
I would like to know what did you do to fix the radiator to the case top ? I have a CM WaveMaster and I will get a PA120.3 on the top. I'm still trying to find how to do this as clean as yours.

You made a great improvement over your previous loop. Your loop kind of sprawls all over though...I think your next phase would be to work out how to mount it all onto the case...unless of course you like it like that.
It's a large case so I don't se any trouble getting moost if not all of the loop into or onto it.
At Dark Prodigy. I am not trying to be argumentative. But there is a general snobby attitude here that irks me. I am not pointing a finger at you or anyone in particular...but there seems to be a mentality here that bashing and trying to rank people into a pecking order is acceptable. To me it is not.
I showed a number of pictures of my completed rigs. I did not post a sequence of shots detailing point A to Point B. I did show some salient details from several angles. Like anyone that posts here I would like to think my posts are appreciated.
I know the value of my work--I get paid highly to do it.
CyberDruid,
Amen to that. Your work is appreciated, at least by me.
"Just out of curiousity" since when is it mandatory for every one of your posts to either have something mean or sarcastic to say? Where are your builds? Where are your "credentials?"
I think that's hilarious and so true of this forum.

Using modded tops are pointless without the use of the top inlet--the 1/2" capability doesn't add any noticeable performance increase (see Cathar's testing in the sticky section). unless, of course, you just wanted a visual appeal...

Thanks for asking.
T O has been great. He stands behind his work 110%: my kind of guy. He has sent a number of emails detailing his progress and basically rebuilt the entire reservoir saving only the coil. He reworked the base and the inlet outlet to better cycle the fluid and propel the coil inside the reservoir. I will be sure to post some shots of his improved reservoir.
@ Darth. Sounds great. But TBH I prefer fused acrylic...when done carefully it is unbeatable.
The Reservoir is a work of acrylic art. It has been a pleasure dealing with T O and I am actually looking into obtaining some of the RMAed spinners to have them repaired as T O said he would gladly repair them.
To my mind you can't expect any better service than that.

I just finished updating my build. The original setup is in post #115 of this [H] thread (http://www.hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1030579359&postcount=115).
Now, instead of two 2x120mm radiators, I have two 3x120mm radiators and one 2x120mm radiator. I have also ported both MCP655 pumps, added quick-disconnects for easy hardware swapping, and I also modified a Silverstone HDD cage so that the drives are reversed, with the cables coming out the front so that I can hide them better.
The complete work log is here. (http://forums.techgage.com/showthread.php?t=2234)

I did not know if anyone was interested or not, but I just finished my Lian Li PC-V2000 water cooler with TWO Thermochill 120.3 rads built inside of it. I am running two water loops with Koolance fittings, Blue Fluid XP Ultra, tygon, two Swiftech MCP655 pumps and two Swiftech Micro Reservoirs. All my water blocks are EK since they look really cool and they use copper. It runs extremely quiet with only a whisper to nothing on the fan noise. I have it about 20 percent overclocked using the Nvidia automatic adjustments in the control panel.
I could not find anyone else who had put two triple rads in a Lian Li 2000. So I went for it and it worked. I KNOW IT IS OVERKILL. I KNOW IT IS A WASTE OF MONEY. I KNOW I LIKE IT AND I AM HAPPY WITH IT. I hope you like it too!!!!
Thanks for looking.

I used the radiator brackets normally used for the Lian Li 343B case to mount the thermochill into the front of my PC-V2000. All I had to do was cut a square hole in the divider and line it with the black vehicle door edge guard. It all went together with screws after that. The bottom radiator required the standard cut of three 120mm holes in the bottom of the case.
The only issue you get from this mod is a small amount of heat that blows out the front and bottom of the case. I have the rear fan blowing in for cool air. I am going to add two 80mm fans blowing in below the PSU for air flow. So far it is almost inaudible.
Kevin

10-15-2007, 02:18 PM
I forgot.....I also replaced all of the solid drive covers with the covers that have the holes in them. It gives it an even look and allows for the front air flow. I wanted that APPLE CASE look with all the holes anyway.

It was put together this summer, however I never finished the case..:p:
Hope you like it :)

do you guys really think that the 120.3's are THAT MUCH better then say a triple (or even quad because of the space between the fans) Black Ice's or MCR320s?
If you could put a figure on it, what would it be?

Oh Hell yes. At least twice as effective.
I am running THREE Quad cores on my PA120.3/Iwaki RD
