Could you do some close up shots of your external box please. Great looking rig btw!

-Brandon

Thanks, Brandon
Here you go, the quality of the pic’s are not the greatest, because, I had to lower the resolution all the way, for them to fit.

Picture is freakin huge! So to avoid annoying everyone, you get a thumbnail, lol. Swiftech everything except the Danger Den TDX-S block. Cant see them, but on the back of the twin rads there are twin enermax speed adjustable fans that I crank up for gaming.

Thanks, yeah i made them at work, nice stainless steel. They are definatly needed. The VX is nice and cool at 3.4V and the X800 definatly needs them blowing on it, the black fan especially on the Vcore mofsets and stuff.

Your not running the 1250 and the l20 in series are you? :stick:

well basically this is how its config

from t-line to 1250
from 1250 to heatercore x2
heatercore x2 to cpu
cpu to chipset
chipset to l-20 pump
l-20 pump to single heatercore
single heatercore to grx card
grx card to t-line

im not sure wat u mean by series, but is my config incorrect?

jopers1986
04-26-2005, 05:33 AM
are the 2 pumps in the same loop?

Jasonhk
04-26-2005, 05:38 AM
Thats wrong..the two pumps should not be inthe same loop or in series..parrallel would be better but still the water flows faster from the faster jump with more pressure into the slower l20, which in the end will damage it.

Vandread
04-26-2005, 05:40 AM
are the 2 pumps in the same loop?
Exactly...
2 different capacity pumps in 1 loop aint good according to my physics knowledge... ;) (edit: jasonhk says it in a better way ;))
Have you tried running w/o the hydor?

If you look in the first messy pic you can see the bottom of the rad. It's stored at the very top beside the cpu. The top blowhole is for the rad.

Very nice and clean system indeed.

And im gona make a new fromt for the tank,in aluminium that matches the rest of the case this time..

lol yeah, well just look at the difference, bigwater was chumpstyle, now I got 1/2" tubing going on with a good pump and good blocks.

Temps were hitting 50C when folding with 1.875Vcore at 2.5GHz, now Im running 1.925Vcore with 2.6GHz and it's hitting 45C during the hottest part of the day :D Normally it'd be hitting probably 55C or so with the tornado at full blast.

GPU Idle WAS 70C and load was 84C
now it's 47C idle and 51C load :D

I like that....4C different between idle and load...yummy :D

Now that it's up and running I gotta get pics of it without the paper towel :P not only that, but man I gotta add more dye lol, so it doesn't look so damn pink.

05-18-2005, 09:42 AM
Convection only works if you have some serious surface area, and for anything more than a chipset that little passive rad wouldn't cut it.

And then of course, it's aluminum...so you'd have the whole corrosion thing coming into play sooner or later. Another thoughtless, flow killing, unpractical product from innovatek.

OK, first I want to apologize in advance because I do not own, nor am I proficient in the use of, a digital camera. Some of the pictures are sideways which sucks, I wish I could flip them around but I am too lazy. Everything is in 1600x1200 so major 56k warning (for those not Xtreme enough for broadband). Also all of the pictures are incredibly blurry when viewed full size, so you are probably better off just looking at the thumbnails. Damn I wish I had good pictures. Whatever, enjoy!

I absolutely love the look of those, its my new favorite looking case. You could fit a triple 120mm radiator at the top? Could you measure clearance on the bottom more me? Width between drive cage and distance from case floor to third pci slot on your mobo?

(edt: also, what panaflos and is it quiet overall?)

Overall it is very quiet with all the fans running on low, silence was a priority with this case. The BIP3 fit only because I was using a smaller PSU, the PC Power and Cooling Turbocool 510 express. A deeper PSU like the OCZ powerstream would not leave enough room for the BIP3 to fit. I will try to take better pics or get someone to come over who can. Also I am a little confused by your measurement requests aside from the "3rd PCI slot from the bottom one" PM with details of what you want and I will measure for you.

EnJoY

PM Sent! Thanks. What fans btw? L1A's?

zeebs
05-25-2005, 06:36 PM
M1A's on everything. I like the M1A's because they are decently quiet but still spin fast enough so that undervolting is effective.

EnJoY
05-25-2005, 06:38 PM
Ah so you undervolt them? You know at 7v they are exactly L1A specs?

zeebs
05-25-2005, 06:52 PM
Then that's the equivalent of what I have. I use them at 7volts most of the time but I like the flexibility of having the full 12v speed if I ever need it.

Edit: A somewhat failed attempt at better pictures, lower resolution so the blur seen in the first set of pics is less pronounced.

It is the blue UV dye (http://www.frozencpu.com/dye-01.html) from FrozenCPU.com, but I'm afraid the camera really did the trick on this one. It is nowhere as bright as in the picture, more like the following:

Sorry about false advertising, I would imagine you would need some serious UV illumination to achieve such luminosity.

Actually, a couple of UV cathodes are placed behind those 2 aluminum supports in the front. This way, your eyes are not filled with all the UV goodness when the cathodes are on, and in my opinion it's better when you can't see the actual cathodes.

Oh god, even an iwaki would be brought to it's knees... Well maybe not. :p:

Get rid of all those aluminum 90 degree bends, you don't need them. And get a pump that doesn't suck, no excuse nowadays to be using an Eheim.

What sux so bad about Eheim pumps?

ferrari_freak
06-06-2005, 03:55 PM
Nothing sucks about them. They are actually really good, known for their reliability. The thing about them is that their flow rates are really low so they arent the best choice if you're going to be cooling a lot of parts. More flow would mean better temps so that's why people don't like using Eheim unless reliability is superior to flow rate. Nowadays their are a lot of high power reliable pumps so that's why he doesnt want the guy to use an Eheim.

It isnt a window mod, nothing is modded on my case i paid $160 for my baby, it came with a very pretty psu also. I dont use it tho cuss the 12v line using a multimeter was a little jumpy (cheap PSU) I poped it in my bro's 2500+ system and kept my antec.

The only real mod i actually did to the case was the actuall window where the 120mm fan is had a grill cut into the window which made a horrible noise when my fan was on high, even worse they put the 120mm fan blowing out and the 2 80mm in theb ack blowing in i changed it where they should be and the 120mm made an even worse noise cuss the blades were almost touching the grill cut int he window so i snipped then off looks better actually and makes no horrid noise.

This is my case btw, check out some the pic newegg has there its a nice looking case

Only thing that doesnt work and hasnt from day one are the 2 light indicating HDD activity and that the PC is on in the front makes me mad i shoulda rma'd it but i didnt care.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811144089

The psu is aspire's 500w powersupply that modded to the extreme with a clear top to see inside 2 80mm adjustable blue led fans all the wires are sleeved ina UV bright green color.

The 12v line says its 34A, but using a multimeter idle i get 12.30v on my a64 system but load it falls to like 11.8-11.9v i dont like that jump so i never used the psu.

Im thinking of putting it back in tho cuss i get no overclock diff between the 2 so i might as well for looks .

Nice case. Looked like a window mod because most cases with side fans have them in the middle of the window (Scorpio). And yeah, you're right, you really should have RMA'd it.

How is that Socket A blok connected to the s754? :stick:

DFI pit bull
06-20-2005, 03:55 AM
All I did was to unscrew the plastic heatsink holder around the socket and removed it from the MB, then placed the socket A water block on it centrally on a flat surface (table), then marked all four holes through WB with a marker, I then removed the WB, after I drilled holes where the marks were, then I ran the screws through the underside of the heatsink holder, later I re-attached the whole lot back on around the socket (with the two mounting holes and screws). I did not use the original DD screws but ones bought in a wardware store as they were more shallow at the end, because my fear was that the originals would make contact with the MB on the underside, the other benefit is that the screws from the wardware store are only one piece instead of 2, after remount the waterblock using the springs and plastic washers to the new socket 754 MB.
Also I had to sand the four legs/stands on the underside of the plastic holder, with a sheet of sandpaper on a flat surface I removed a couple mm so that the WB can make good contact with DTR.
I did setup the water cooling without first sanding "all ok and quite low temps, but after I sanded I noticed a drop in temp of about 4-5 degrees.

Here is my new project...

I still have a lot of things I plan to do to it yet but this is how it is now.

I still have a 120.3 Performance shroud on its way, some EP exclusive fan grills. A little more colour planning still to be done.

Then I will tidy up the cabling, add another fan controller to the Floppy drive bay and install a fan covering the Ram and PWM IC on the DFI SLI-DR.

What are you opinions so far?

Hey, it’s my first build (April 2005), never studied/done the OC thing before …
so go easy on me ...

So this is my first attempt/experience with many things, including W/C.

As you can see I’m quite the LanParty animal – looks are everything!! (not).

Actually I’d gone through an XP-120 with 120cfm fan trying to get this bad-boy FX55 under 60C with OC/load (unsuccessfully I might add) . My goal was pure functionality …

I found success! I now run 42C to 45C max oc load on cpu (and pwmic)

My new system has exceeded my expectations. I’m very very pleased with my initial results!! Now, where are those dualies?? Bring em on!

Here is my main parts list:

Radiator – very pleased with this one!
Get the shroud! and the fans .. all the goodies come with it, very nice/simple setup

http://www.dangerdenstore.com/home.php?cat=14

Water block – very simple installation – seems ok, used the stock restrictor/pressure thing, but have the others that I could play with later.

http://www.dangerdenstore.com/produ...7&cat=21&page=1

Pump – seems ok 350gph 10’ head
http://www.yourpondstore.com/keysea...d-keywords=mag3

Local grocery store provided the 1.25 gallon drinking water container .. Lowe’s provided the fittings for the reservoir.

Here is a look inside the cooler case

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/Timpanogos/coolerInside.png

Cpu -> Radiator -> top of reservoir -> bottom of reservoir -> pump in -> pump out -> cpu

Take a close look at that Radiator mounting .. this is a CompUSA branded mini-tower that sells without a PS for $29.00. I was worried about pain of mod'ing/mounting the rad to the back panel, but it turns out that the motherboard framework on this thing provided a square slot that fit the radiator PERFECTLY! I simply tie-wrapped the top in to hold it in place. Cutting the rivets of the drive tray framework and removing it was simple.

Here is a look at the outside of the cooler case. Gonna be working on re-routing the tubes to the back

The flow is ok, and the temps too, u not really need the best pump to get good temps, and there are only 3 angels. Anyway i have this eheim since 3 years now, time to time i upgrade my watercooling, next step is an laing dcc and an better external compensating reservoir.
I am also in the market for a good pump. They say there is little reason to have a eheim any more, well I still have a Hydor L30 that came with my first WC setup, and I guess that is even less powerful than the eheim. The dangerden/lain DCC pump you have pictured is really interesting - it has a lot of 'head' as you call it. That meaning it is powerful despite its small size and useful in loops with much resistance. The max flow is not the best however, but the worst thing about it is the noise afaik. I think I read about that in a review sometime ago. Do you guys know of a pump that is quiter than the L30 and still more powerful? That doesn't cost 100 $ of course.. I'm not very rich :(

Also when I see all you guys' pictures I'm thinking.. Isn't it better to have the T-mounted refill hose on the intake of the pump, instead of the output? Or does it matter at all? In the end I am also a bit confused about this whole pressure vs. flow topic.. what the heck is the difference of the two? Oh well I wrote much longer than I intended :p:

The Laing DDC is not a noisy pump. It's very quiet. I don't have any experience with L30's but I doubt the DDC makes more noise.

Max flow of the DDC is something which surprises me. With the standard top it's low; ~350LPH.
Why is it so low? Because there is a 90 degrees bend right in front of the inlet of the pump. With a modded top the max flow is almost doubled.

The interesting thing is that the modded DDC GravediggA actually has a top inlet which removes the 90 degrees bend. Many people don't know this and don't use it, but it might improve max flow a lot. Maybe not double it, since the inlet does look rather small, but it should be an improvement.

I'd hesitate in getting that reservoir. It seems like double-trouble. It uses uses Aluminum and Plexiglass. If you have copper in the loop with Aluminum, it's prone to corrosion. Also, Plexi is prone to micro fractures which leads to leaks.

Yeah the TDX comes with a long screw like shaft that you place in the MB holes. Under that you screw on a little locking nut, put a washer under that, and then its just a matter of screwing it down. Really easy

Masking tape on where you want to cut and then lay it out on there :D, cut thru tape...

Think of hole saw as cup w/ teeth, hole in center of cup mounts to arbor (central stalk that cup screws onto, then put the whole thing into the drill like giant bit) Arbor also has pilot drill point to center the hole saw, drill pilot hole first.

CLAMP IT DOWN. DRILL AND SAW GENERATE ALOT OF TORQUE and YOU dont WANT to SCREW UP your CASE do YOU? :D

pump»»rad»»CPU»»Chipset»»Vga»»Aquatube (res)and netwerk on a low flow 90 degreees doesn´t make a diference and my temperatures are (with 26 Ambient)36 idle and 46 in load (1.5Vcore)

no no.. I mean the pump going to the res first then out to the blocks

mine? its pump->CPU->Rad->pump

as was mentioned above i dont think it would really make a difference.. especially considering its a small loop

Yeah, youre probably right, mines a bit different, mine goes Pump, rad, cpu, gpu, through T, to pump

That's mine! :)
Here in Bulgaria I couldn't find green UV liquid addition for the water, so I bought green hose /it even wasn't enought, so there is still one old piece clear hose, that isn't very clear, becouse of it's age :D/ The water blocks are from the Asetek Whater Chill WC Kit, all brought from USA. The pump is Hydor L35 /1700l per hour/ and the heatercore is from old russian car - bought for 10 lewa /about 6$/. It's pure cooper and handles the cooling very well!

Some pics of my old water block:

(VERY) Brief guide on how to build a shroud to mount a Papst 150mm on a PA 160....

Mounted:

Had it running for a few days (5V) but still annoyed me so - NEXT!!!

Put back teh Old shroud and a Panaflo L (note teh shiny G5 hiding in there :woot: and the modded mcp350 )

Also note how I opened up the wire pass-through and then used a piece of AL angle to maint structural integrity. THIS ALLOWS ME TO REMOVE THE WHOLE WC SYSTEM AS A UNIT (B4 DRAINING IF NEED BE!!!!)

Got fed up w/ the t-line and bleeding so stuff the mc5000(?) res from swifty in and after epoxying in the barbs all is GOOD

Some people have been wondering how they would mount some WC in a V1000, so when I was re-arranging the case for my wife (moving drive bays back a bit for less noise) I dummied up my trusty old BIX setup to give an idea :hrhr:

This one is for eva2000 and the others who seem to have mounting issues for there storm blocks, etc (will also work on Big typhoon :D ) Threaded rod screwed into standoff screwed into backplate.

Thats alot of good moding work! Kabi, pump and shroud! :toast:

clean and almost no angles (unless I am not seeing the tee to the right of the pump correctly)?

Thanks for the replys.

To answer your questions:

Turok: I used some Water Wetter for anti-corrosion etc. however it turned the water pink so I put some red food coloring in it. :D It turned the tubes red.

Mikee: The item right of the was my homemade reservoir but I had to turn the case side ways to fill the system. Needless to say I don't use it anymore, I don't really need it.

I redid mine, after getting some advise from Maxxx (thx buddy).
Tubing from res to pump was way to long, which annoyed me.
That's why I removed the floppy bay from my PC75 and placed the pump above the HD cage.
Gives me some more space at the bottom and looks cleaner this way.
Im thinking about moving this whole setup to my CM Stacker, which would give me even more room to work in.

This is how is was this morning :
