The flow may look OK with the small round interior of the res but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it was under 200 LPH. I sure hope that's a 18W pump, otherwise, your probably under 150 LPH.

The AGB res has been shown to hurt flow as shown in this topic here (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=111796). The BI GTS is also known to hurt flow, mixed with 2 other rads (which are basically 4 90° elbows with thin tubing between them) as well as the blocks and you have a low flow/low pressure system. I recommend you add another pump of the same wattage and remove the AGB and add a Swiftech micro res (<-preferred recommendation) or lose at least one of the rads (preferably the GTS) and shorten the loop a little.

IMO, the best setup would be a single rad using either a TC PA120.3 or a Swifty MCR320 up top, but I'm not suggesting either of those because I know LL's aren't cheap and I'd hate to see it cut up any further, as it may look fugly if you do.

Thanks for all the information!

Thx! :)

It is a Chieftec Mesh Big Tower, which i varnished with black paint.

Thx!

I like the free room in the case, because i work a lot on my system! And sometimes i get called Mr. External.. :p: It is my passion to make the radiators external.

Me too! :D

Thx for the warning, but as stormshadow already said, it is reflection.

Yes:) Pic was taken by Benson from Tagan.

@Ad1tya

That kink was temporary to hold the fan over the PWM area. They were heating pretty bad from overclocking. Cpu temp never went over 36'c even overclocked.

Here is my first try at watercooling.
I wanted it to all fitt inside the case and started with a to small radiator.
Now I switched to a PA120.2 and had to lift the case a bit. Still need to make some feet or wheels for it.
The next project will be building my own case.
I like the MM cases I see here, but they are just to big to have on my desk.

Anyone know why this camera is so f'ing grainy? It's supposed to be 7megapixel.

That fan extension shouldn't be there, but my fan power slot isn't working in the rear :/

For the dark shot it is cranking the ISO speed way up which allows more light in for a faster shutter (less blur) but makes it grainy. What camera is it? If you can set the camera on something steady so it won't shake and manually drop the ISO down to 100 or 200 it would be much cleaner looking.

Hi Everyone!

It was time to transfer the guts out of my P180b and stuff them into a Mountain Mod UFO. I had a tough time choosing between the black and the white powdercoat. This case was very easy to work with, I only had to drill holes to mount the pump and reservoir. The blue acrylic 3.5 -> 5.25 adapter had to be filed to get the USB port to fit. Thanks to the guys at Mountain Mods, Petra's and Crazy PC for their awesome customer service. What's next? Maybe a quadcore? A second loop? Hmmmm....

Let's get on with the pics:

The only thing I noticed was the top fan grill.
You should rotate it 180deg, so it sits the same as the bottom 2.

Nope, you can see the fittings clearly.

It's blood red coolant or dye, easily found in almost any online shop.

Well, after many hours of research, a fair bit of cash, and a lot of time spent, this is what I've come up with...

(The pictures that were taken in the dark came out blurry, and I didn't want to pull it out again tonight to take new pictures... I dislike this camera.)

Case without side panel on (fear my lack of cable management skills):
http://74.86.106.128/~madskill/madskillz/sIMG_7174.jpg
http://74.86.106.128/~madskill/madskillz/sIMG_7152.jpg

Case without side panel on, in the dark (with blurry goodness):
http://74.86.106.128/~madskill/madskillz/sIMG_7170.jpg

Case with side panel on:
http://74.86.106.128/~madskill/madskillz/sIMG_7198.jpg

Case with side panel on, in the dark (blurry again):
http://74.86.106.128/~madskill/madskillz/sIMG_7196.jpg

I'm probably going to replace the rad grill, and get at least a few new PSU cables so that I can conceal everything better and have less clutter.

There sure are some great looking setups in here.

I can't wait to get my setup, which will be in an Antec 900.

With the UV die(blue in this case, pun not intended), how many UV light/light sources are really needed to really show off the UV die? I don't want to much purple light in my system, lol.

About a month ago I had to make a temporary setup without case, but seems like it's here to stay. Have to learn to save money since I'm starting my studies again

Hmm this doesn't really fit in to the "case gallery" category but what a heck...

The cleanest "Out of the Case" setup I've seen. I like it, hows the cooling?

It will be ok!

If you're nervous then I would recommend some fesser one non conductive coolant. WJA96 on OcUK has a small leak through some cracked acrylic once but his motherboard was fine. The coolant just left some scum on a USB header on the motherboard which he cleaned off with IPA.

Just take your time to do a proper leak test with tissue paper.

A few things about your loop:

I don't see the need for the delrin 90 degree fitting before the video card block. Tubing should be able to go from your processor block to the VGA block without kinking.

7/16th tubing seals much better than 1/2". Look at your second picture and see how badly the tubing needs to be squished to the barb with a hose clamp.

Thought I'd add to the discussion. I recently heavily modified my Nine Hundred and water cooled it as well. I will say that it was the biggest pain in the ass I've ever had to deal with, but the results were well worth the effort. Here's some photos.

This next one, the 12volt cord was lengthened and modified from a 6 pin to a 4 pin connector (Thermaltake decided an adapter wouldn't be a good thing to include) I'm still not happy about this cut out though, it's not as clean as I'd like.

I've had this setup running for a few weeks now, decided it was finally time to get some pics of it up.
The radiator, a Koyo/Adrad Ford Falcon AU Copper rad, fin area measuring 67cmx45cmx32mm.

The enclosure for the entire setup, which sits outside on a balcony. Amazing what $15 of pine and ply can get you.

Aye.

The rubber band doesn't get hot at all; it's been set up like this for a few months now without any problems.
Idle temperatures are ~5-10 degrees over ambient, load temperatures 2 or 3 degrees above that; after around six hours of Orthos load, temperatures increase another few degrees, to ~10-15 degrees over ambient.
I run the E6600 @ 3.6 on 1.45v.

there have been several posts since mine, but i wanted to answer the mounting question regarding the pump. I was very simple actually. Danger Den included industrial Velcro with the d5, so considering that it's lightweight and the tubing would naturally be pushing up on it I decided to just use the Velcro. Very simple and very effective.

omg, This is one of the most chanceless things I've ever seen in my whole entire life. I once cooled an x850xt(pe) amd 3000+ venice@2.7 and a northbridge on a a8n-sli premium with just one 120.1 black ice pro. And my temps were around 40C. And then you see one ubernerd who thinks all this work will make such a difference instead of buying a 120.2 :S ON A SINGLE 6600? I swear the E6600 @ 3.6 on 1.45v will run great on a 120.2. That's the same thing as flowrate BLEGH! i hate those theories, and I know higher flow can decrease your temps but it makes a 3C difference or maybe less?

Now I'm going to take a smoke...

Hey there!
My first post - been browsing the forums for a bit and finally registered!

Here's another Antec 900 as every1 else says...its cramped...also, I wanted to mount everything internally so opted for a Tt rad...bad choice.

I have a Lian-Li V1200 with a PA120.2 on the way soon (I hope!) so watch out for my new one ;)
Only the CPU atm, but hope to extend it to the N/S Bridges and GPU and RAM (eventually - with 2 loops!)
PICS!:

I've had this setup running for a few weeks now, decided it was finally time to get some pics of it up.
The radiator, a Koyo/Adrad Ford Falcon AU Copper rad, fin area measuring 67cmx45cmx32mm.

The enclosure for the entire setup, which sits outside on a balcony. Amazing what $15 of pine and ply can get you.

Shots of the pump and an old heater, serving as a fan. Pump is a Nightingale TCP130, Qmax 90L/min, Hmax 23m. From memory it's around 1/2HP; My pump is bigger than your pump! :D

Well, the NB runs under 40 degrees with the HR-05 sitting on it, no matter how many volts I throw at the thing, and I'm yet to find a block(s) for my 7950GX2 that isn't as expensive as the card itself.

Grimreaperguy, i really appreciate all the hard work, but im going to have to agree with dnb#. All that work, time, effort, and money you spend while you couldve just bought a waterchiller...

Last I checked, this is XS, and we're supposed to enjoy what we do. If tinkering around with water cooling is 'hard work' instead of 'good fun', I think you're in the wrong place. :yepp:
As for cost, this project was largely begun because of the high cost of the loops that we normally use; the pump set me back AUD$80, and the radiator $100. A DDC and a Thermochill would cost almost twice that, and an Iwaki would cost as much as the entire loop! :ROTF:

Rebuilded my system today, after the dryice-session this weekend. :)

Point taken, Allthough for me the Xtreme in Xtreme systems stands for Xtreme perfomance, or Xtremely cold computer. Not Xtremely-difficult-way-to-make-something-that-couldve-been-done-much-more-easily.

Dont misunderstand me, i love your setup. It's just that you could've reached the same result with a lot less trouble. And then if you went thru all the trouble you would have gotten even better result.

Sorry for the bad quality, they were taken with my phone. After seeing Lasse.J's build, it compelled me to sell my 2 8800GTS's and the p5n320e sli and get rid of the stacker t01 and get a p182, p5k deluxe, and a 8800GTX. BTW I still need to paint the interior of the side panels.

Nice.

I have a p180b am currently putting together a WC system for it. I used your build as some early inspiration. I already have the tripple rad, filport, T and tubing. I'm just not sure about the pump. I want to put mine in the top HDD bay so I'm torn between the 655 and 355 which would be easier to fit.

Looks like the back end of the 655 would fit in the empty bay. Why didn't you mount it there?

pvtdonuts
08-21-2007, 11:10 PM
Thanks for the comment, The pump would fit in there, but I had a limited supply of tubing and I also wanted the loop to be compact. I tried the empty bay and it would be a bit of a hassle to route tubing for the outlet of the pump as I didn't want to do more cutting than was necessary. It fits well though, doesn't touch anything inside and it's pretty secure.

Even though I ordered the swiftech sinks like a week or so from petras, and they should have the new thermal tape, it still sucked! Didnt stick whatever I did, tried heating the sinks up, etc. So I went with the superglue-in-the-corners-method, worked like a charm. :)

Actually, to be accurate, it's pump/res/fan controller/temp sensor/optional display all hooked into the pump. I have one as well. You do have the option to seperate the res from the pump if you want to save room. Takes up the same foot print as a hydor l30 without res. Maybe less.

Hello all. This was an attempt to do something a bit different, at least in the area of the radiator. I used a fairly small pump (mounted under the table on the bottom of the 1/2" vertical copper pipe) to feed the top of the coils and let gravity help the liquid flow down to the 2 to 1 blocks mounted on the front of the coil stands. Variable speed fans in the stands provide airflow up through the coils. System works reasonably well but I want to increase flow rate (currently the gauge reads about 1 and 1/2 psi). Hard to find truly quiet pumps that will flow large volumes of liquid. One coil is connected to the CPU waterblock and one to the GPU. System capacity is almost 4 quarts of PC ICE dielectric fluid. Best temp recorded was 41C on the CPU while running dual Prime95.

No, 5 Hd weigh a lot and its bolted down to the bottom of the cage. I pulled it back and stuck a 120mm fan in the front to keep the HD cool. (works kinda good). At one time I had the rad in the top but moved it to the bottom. My case is under my desk and it seemed that bottom of the case was always hot,, now that I have it in the bottom and with three blow holes in the top I have lots of flow ;) Next time I take it apart I might take some more time with the wires, but my case dosnt have windows and I was kinda moving fast on the mod because I wanted to get it done before the wife got home from work and started with all the hunny do's.

at the moment its just a beta build cause the other cooling parts like smartcoils, gpu blocks are still missing and there's not alot time but still alot to do :shakes:

next steps should be:
- to refill my loops with black uv water
- get rid off this ugly tube bridge
- put in my 2 g8 ultra

system:
dual lianli cube
qx6850 @ d-tek fusion
asus striker xtreme @ mips watercooling
asus 1950xtx @ innovatek
2gb dominator 1250 @ mips watercooling

loop 1: black ice stealth 240 - black ice gtx360 cpu - mem - gpu - asetek waterchill xtreme
loop 2: black ice gtx360 - mb - asetek waterchill xtreme

i'm sure it's fine and i'm sure people have done it.....but i have bets that the psu isn't gonna last as long....i would get a hole cut out above the psu. at least get some air in there! you just never know when it comes to electronics and heat

great work - could you elaborate on how you mounted the blocks to your shuttle sockets?

johnnyli
08-31-2007, 09:28 AM
The problem with the shuttle is it does not use a standard 775 bolt pattern for the cpu cooler hold down so you have to modify your cpu cooling block hold down to match the shuttles hold down holes by adding adjustable slides of some kind

Here she is..... after months of searching this thread i finally decided to take the plunge. THis is my first attempt at WC'ing. I may try again and use an EK Res. instead of the Micro-Res. My temps look fairly good, but i think the water in the resv. is being heated by the 8800 GTX.

Loop: Resv. - Pump - CPU - Rad - Resv.

Things I need to work on:
1. Cable managment (cut holes in back of MB tray)
2. New resv. and shorten the loop

I'm very happy with the dead silence of this setup, it consists of:

- Hydor Seltz L30 II A/C pump
- MCR320 radiator
- 3x Yate Loon fans
- 1/2" ID Tygon tubing (R-3603)
- D-Tek yellow dye
- Swiftech Apogee GT
- Random dollar store container

This slick setup cost me $180.00 CAD, and it gives me the ability to run my E2140 @ 3.2ghz, 1.43V with a load temperature of 34ºC.

Yes, I picked yellow because everyone has blue/red/green.

if u turn ur rad downwards, u can place the pump under it directly and get much shorter tubing

I've had this setup running for a few weeks now, decided it was finally time to get some pics of it up.
The radiator, a Koyo/Adrad Ford Falcon AU Copper rad, fin area measuring 67cmx45cmx32mm.
http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/7305/img0045kh5.jpg
The enclosure for the entire setup, which sits outside on a balcony. Amazing what $15 of pine and ply can get you.
http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/1186/img0039lo7.jpg
Shots of the pump and an old heater, serving as a fan. Pump is a Nightingale TCP130, Qmax 90L/min, Hmax 23m. From memory it's around 1/2HP; My pump is bigger than your pump! :D

The fill tube:

The air bleed tube:
http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/825/img0043vd9.jpg
A few minutes drilling yielded a couple of 1/2" holes, into which were inserted a pair of copper pipes, over which the tubes were forced. The smaller hole is for the line to the power board, which feeds the pump and fan.

The tubes emerging from the other side of the wall. I am yet to clean this end up.

The tubes final destination: A Swiftech Storm Rev2 on an E6600.

Here is my first go at watercooling I did it on Saturday. Also, the case was turned to take pictures. I don't leave the rad up against the wall like it is in the picture. :)

MaStA,

your setup looks fine for the first try at WC :) maybe you can play a littlebit with the look of your case (if you're a bit interested in the look of your case ofcourse!)
