I know it supposed to be fan>shroud>rad, but I have to sacrifice performance (for now) to get it to fit underneath the "cupboard" after I use the comp. Notice I already took off the case's feet.
When I tear those down Ill place the fans ontop...here is a pic of my deskspace I have to work with:

Gotcha. Looks great otherwise though. Its the first Fatality Zalman build I've seen.

He's actually using the shroud incorrectly.
Nitteo: The fans need to be mounted on the outside of the shroud. The purpose of the shroud is to eliminate dead spots from having the fans directly attached to the radiator itself.
"...although I don't know whether it's more effective that way or not."
Didn't know whether the shroud was doing anything, which is why I added that sentence

The shroud may not be affecting much, but, I bet that cupboard being so close is. I would venture that it is restricting the air flow through the fan, pressure build up.

i think that a 120.2 will fit on the top of the case, im willing to sacrifice 2 drive bays if needed.
i think it has room, look at this http://www.systemcooling.com/lian_li_pc-7b-07.html
copy that, good luck and looking forward to seeing it when completed:yepp:

Trust me. Evga will take back anything that remotely resembles a board.
I've sent back a board that was completely fried with burn marks and nasty insulation coating (with a pink color) all over it with some of the suicide shots a neighbor and I did with LN2.
On top of that, an associate of mine had his computer chucked out the window after an argument with the lady. His board has snapped in two. He sent it back...and got a successful RMA.
I'm beginning to wonder what it would take for them to deny an RMA...:D
Maybe I'll send back 2/3's of a board the next time around.

I won't deny it but that's a strange occurrence. I've never heard of anyone being charged as long as they sent the product back in the manner as asked, especially over a bent socket. He could have claimed it came like that in the first place and for all they know they'd have to accept his claim as is.

evga has the best customer service and exchange policies bar none
they exchanged for free the original 680i board with revision A1 just so peeps like myself could overclock the quadcore's fsb to 400 and beyond
my A1 eventually died and guess what, they sent me another board

Whoa, Darth, that means a lot coming from someone that has a custom painted, phase chaged, gigantor UFO on steroids with a friggin axe sticking out of the top. Thanks! :)
I'm not too happy with the fact that the only air coming into the case has to pass through the PA120.3 first, so this morning I ordered a 120mm fan hole acrylic triple 5.25" bay cover from MM, along with a black 120mm grille, a Yate Loon D12SM-12, and some MX-1 TIM for the CPU to see if I get better temps than I get with AS5. My hope is that I can get some fresh air (that doesn't pass through a rad) into the bottom of the case for the PA 120.2 to take advantage of.
I just photochopped one of my pics and placed a 120mm in the left drive bay. What do you guys think?

Yup,
And I was having some of the same temp issue. problem is, with to many rad fans blowing in, and not enough pulling warm air out, the case becomes somewhat of a oven heating the rads themselves up. And having the CPU rad pulling air from the inside of the case hurts.
I use a dryer duct to pull the PSU heat away from the back and have my bottom rad (CPU) pulling cool air in and my temps are better than ever. The top back fan is pulling warm air out. The top fans have one blowing cool air in over the cards while the other is pulling warm air out.
that's the best arrangement I've found when using dual rad's while keeping the case temps good in a MM Horizon.
I was thinking of getting another top panel and sticking it on the left side with fans blowing cool air in, but haven't tried it yet.

My hope is that I can get some fresh air (that doesn't pass through a rad) into the bottom of the case for the PA 120.2 to take advantage of.
you can't be serious that your pa120.3 is sucking air into the case? that's about as smart as running the heater during summer in Arizona

Septim, I want to keep the top with just the big window, as the motherboard and loops are the "showcase" of the entire setup. As far as the spare PSU hole, I wouldn't even know where to begin to throw a 120mm fan there and make it look good. :P
coolrmaster, how do you propose I get air into my case then? From everything I've read while deciding on a setup, the temperature of the air passing through the radiator doesn't really change. Running 3.65ghz @ 1.46V, I'm getting 33-35degC idle and 52-53 load. From what I've been told, those temps are excellent.

RX7, temps look good, what's the ambient?
I run qx6700 and 8800gtx sli at stock speeds on dtek fuzion and danger den blocks on single loop with pa120.3, temps approx. 8C and 20C above ambient respectively.
RX7boricua
06-24-2007, 11:47 PM
Ambient for me is anywhere between 20-22degC. If I set Vcore to Auto and clock down to stock speeds, my CPU idles at around 24-25degC and loads at around 33-35degC.

Also I replaced the stock asus p5n32-e sli heatsinks with thermalright HR-09's and HR-05's

Hi Everyone,
I decided to redo my loop order and add an EK Res 150. My previous loop can be seen on page 158.
Old loop: pump > cpu > gpu > rad > pump w/ t-fitting. With the pump at the lowest setting, I was still having problems fully bleeding the loop.
New loop: pump > rad > cpu > gpu > res > pump. The temps pretty much stayed the same, but bleeding was a breeze. I also added an 80mm fan mounted to the RadBox to blow on my PWMs, this lowered the temps from 50°C to 45°C.

I had this thrown together to start with, one of Petra's kit's and once satisfied that I knew what I was doing (first W/C build) I took my rig apart and here's how she ended up. My rad and pump are in the tv stand that was used as a base for the case.

http://img260.imageshack.us/img260/7044/053ql4.th.jpg (http://img260.imageshack.us/my.php?image=053ql4.jpg)
I have changed the tubing that Petra's gave me with the kit to 1/2" id, 3/4" od. Plus I guess the small tubing that came with the kit when I tried to push it on the plastic barbs for the rad, I pushed too hard and caused a leak. Or the rad was defective. Reguardless, I tried many different ways to stop the leak and finially took it to a rad shop and had it fixed. Cost as much as the rad. Maybe I could have bought the resin and solder and a torch and did it my self, but I wasn't sure I could. In the pic that's rtv all over the rad and tubing.
All in all, I think it turn out good, just need to buy more blue stuff to put in the water.

This one, great deal for 5 bucks, it only takes a few drops for the entire loop. My little bottle will last me a lifetime :)

Wow really... Sounds like a better deal than the D-tek UV dye I'm using. Took about the whole bottle to get it about that bright, and the bottle is $10. Might have to look into that frozenCPU dye next time.

It was a difficult job, took pretty much all day with a stop for rowing and food. Nothing went to plan really. I was hoping to fit the MCRES in between the side of the case and the 5.25" drive bays but its too wide, thank God for the included bracket! I was planning to have the 2nd DDC below where the MCRES is but that wouldnt work either so it had to go at the back of the case next to the other 1 and its a tight fit, only just goes. I have a modular PSU so that helped, along with the impressive flexibility of 7/16" Masterkleer tubing, I dont think I'd have managed it with 1/2" tubing, be just that bit too big.
Loops go (1) DDC-1+>Fuzion 1>Fuzion 2>Rad>MCW-60>EK Res
(2)DDC-1+>BIP>MCW-30>Maze 4 GPU (on PhysX)>MCRES Micro
I'd planned to watercool the southbridge with a 2nd MCW-30 but I couldnt get a secure mount due to the intel clip hold down mechanism. The NB was fine as the i5000X chipset is covered by an IHS.

Thats totally the opposite then wat i want with my Rig. I want my loop to be as simple as possible, which makes it easy to remove, but also doesn't take to much space.

Yeh, it sure wont come apart easily! Really the only reason it'll come to bits now is if something breaks. I wont be upgrading for a while as Im not a heavy gamer I wont be rushing out to buy the latest GFX card and the dual-quad cores should see me through in the CPU horsepower department for a good while to come. My 1st loops started off simple, was an Asetek CPU only kit, then I bought a GPU block, a better pump, the Antarctica CPU block. Having pushed the Asetek stuff about as far as it would go I got a Laing D5, a tripple 120 rad, a DD TDX for my A64 and a Maze 4 for my GFX. From there I added a 2nd D5 and swapped to an MP-05 Pro LE CPU block. When I got my 1st Xeons (E5120 dual cores) I just bought a 2nd MP-05 and an MCW-60 for my 8800GTS as the Maze 4 wouldnt fit, but when my quad cores arrived I upgraded to the Fuzions due to their made-for-quad-core design and thought I may as well do it properly and WC everything! The stock NB heatsink is just Alu and it got burning hot so I got the MCW-30s and I still had the old Maze 4 knocking around which just happened to fit on the PhysX card, so might as well use it, right?
I do see your point though simple can be good, but at least if I know it'll take all day to disassemble it'll stop me tinkerign for a while, might actually get some useful stuff done! D

I think it's a great build. true, alot going on there, but it's functional and well done with all the loops and cooling potential. I agree, that should keep you going for a long time, and the case looks great.

not sure to be honest ... I tried few things, makes no diff ...
Where is the PSU getting its air from? The fan is on the bottom, but there is the bottom of the case in the way...? Or am I just missing something, like is there an airspace between the bottom of the PSU and the case?
the PSUis elevated about 3cm above the bottom of the case so there is plenty of airflow going on in the bottom chamber which is separated and insulated from the top one. There is a front intake fan pushing air in and going out through the PSU.
I think he did put the EK block to tight...

I tried that and it made not difference. :( its wierd ... but all seems to work fine ...
I gotta say, the temps are fantastic, in 19C room temp I get 31C IDLE and 35C LOAD (playing Oblivion for approx 2 hours). With stock HSF I had 65 Idle, 75C load. Massive drop.

Hehe.
Well I ordered some "UV LED" fans from SVC and they just came UV reactive. I emailed them and they said sorry, corrected the website, and offered to take them back for a full refund plus they would pay for shipping.
I get most of my modding gear from SVC so I told them it was fine but they insisted they do something for me so they said they would give me a discount on another set of fans so I got some sexy green aluminum fans for another project.
They look so damn sexy under UV light. MmmmmMmmmm goodness.

I Decided not to cool the gpu with this setup as the radiators are already heatsoaking. My idle temps right now are pretty bad. 36C. Vcore is set at 1.5 i'm only at 3.3 stable right now. This is on a lapped Xeon 3060. Kinda dissapointed with the results. I can run 3.6 no problem and orthos no problem, but once I start rendering some video, the video ends up with artifacts. took me a while to figure out it was the overclock. I was hoping i could hit 3.8, but seems unlikely.
Now i'm going to mount the MCR320 on the back with a rad box. Figured this would be the best bang for the buck upgrade. more surface area and reduce the pressure drop by getting rid of the two radiators.
I'm still debating if i want to cool the 1950xt. I don't know if i'm going to upgrade the vid card soon. I guess the MCW60 is fairly compatible with both nvidia and ati.
With the GPU added into the loop, how much higher will the temps be? Would I get better results if i just left the gpu out?
I'm not really overclocking the vidcard right now, but there's still alot of heat coming off of the hs/fan.

I spy in his rig two 7900's, an ASUS (?) socket AM2 mobo, some weird PCI/PCi-E card and a Sound Blaster. From what I can tell it's an Apogee GT on the CPU w/2 MCW60's on the GPU's, probably Pentosin G11 in the loop w/Masterkleer tubing. Oh yeah, and Kingston HyperX Ram.

That's quite amazing guys!
Sorry for the late reply, but here's a basic rundown from top to bottom of the pci slots:
1. Adaptec RAID 3805 8-port SATA controller
-- This was actually the most difficult mod I had to pull off, as it required an x4 slot that was completely blocked by one of the dual slot 7900gtx's. I ultimately had to add a "six inch, flexible, riser card" and re-attach the entire card reversed to a spare pci slot cover in an empty space at the top. My first "mod" that required some time with a drill.
2/3. 7900gtx
3. X-Fi "Fatal1ty" Card
The motherboard is the M2N32-SLI Deluxe, the cpu has a GTX with an AM2 plate, the memory is Kingston, and the case is the 343b.
Again, I am very impressed by all of your guesses! I have been working on this for about a year, and finally can enjoy just sitting back and taking some pictures.
Top down view:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v601/pipnheaddude/hftopdown.gif
Messy, worklog-style shot of the other side:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v601/pipnheaddude/hfmessyside.gif
The last shot shows the messy guts that are fortunately hidden by the case divider.
To save some guessing:
-the psu is a Tt Toughpower 750w
-Six 750gb hdds are running in RAID 5
-there's a bluray player in the top front bay, followed by a lightscribe dvd-r, then the front connections for the X-Fi, and finally my newest addition... a Typhoon GX screen to monitor the internals and pick up my old MCE remote.
Lastly, to award some points for all the sharp eyes out there:
1. NickS 50 pts
2. Ic3man 45 + 5pts (for spotting the loose RAM module!) =50pts.
3. Xavior 30 pts bc I didn't expect anyone to notice the AM2 hold down plate
4.Mankz_91 10 pts for the case model.

hey! first time water cooling here. I'm gonna redo my loop - just got the Stealth 3 days ago, and now they announced the rev2, so I want to replace it :/ Will probably get some tygon tubing while I'm at it too. Just looking for some critiques before I do redo it. (yes I'm using a swiftech 220, I started reading here a lot more AFTER I purchased the kit, needless to say my timing with purchasing stuff sucks)
Anyways, here are the shots of my setup (ignore the res too, that should be fixed :P)

As long as the moment on the fuzion isn't causing a bad contact I guess it should give you very good performance.

That's not too bad at all, good work there. I'd consider trying to shorten up the tubing so the pump is closer to everything rather than sitting on the bottom like that - perhaps mount it above your HDD bays? Shorter distances will mean less impedance. I'd also go Pump -> Rad -> CPU rather than Pump -> CPU -> Rad, it'll give you slightly better temps.

that looks like dual triple 120mm BIX rads there, look at the fan spacing, they're touching each other, Thermochills have a little gap between each fan. Swiftech's fins are less dense so it must be a BIX in there

swiftech ultra water kit with stealth full cover vga block.
operating pretty good so far, 11713 on 3dmark. I have orthos but have yet to let it run for more than about 40 minutes. No errors so far. Highest temp I have seen on cpu so far was 55c. and that was running orthos and doing other things at same time. Highest on gpu is about 50c also. Both idle about 38c. Open to any suggestions.
