Nice blocks, dunno If I would run them all of one pump though looks to be a hell of alot of restriction there.

Why, loop order doesn't matter.

exactly. Shorter tubing will help more, and i think he did a good job at keeping the tubing as short as possible.

I think so, too. But I'm not satisfied with the long tubing from mosfets to pump inlet.. :(

IanY .. no problem .. :) It's UV WaterDye: http://www.aquatuning.de/product_info.php/info/p2029_Wasserzusatz-DangerDen-Green-UV-WaterDye-29-5ml.html

Krueml,

I guess the Alphacool water tank is not removable for filling. So you have to be careful when topping up the reservoir, correct?

You use 7/16" ID 5/8" OD Tygon R-3603 right? That doesn't look like 1/2" ID 3/4" OD Tygon to me.

Wasserzusatz UV Dye !! :)

I'm using a short hose with a funnel for filling, no problems.. and yes, it's 7/16"ID 5/8"OD..
But I have really problems to get the air out of the system - as you can see in the 3th picture - the reservoir is too small, the Laing has too much power and the rig is simply too less restrective. Alphacool will send me a swam for the reservoir and I hope that the storm will be over then..

Why, loop order doesn't matter.

It does if you want the last deg in temp off your CPU etc, Tubing doesn't have much effect on resistance, its all the tiny little restrictive SB/NB blocks I would be worried about.

No, it goes from pump -> rad -> gpu -> cpu.

Also, loop order really doesn't make a difference. The important thing it to use the least amount of tubing and make the least bends.

I found that krueml_ using an 18watt DDC in my HTPC which was making all sorts of gurgling noises from the res no matter how full i filled it and couldn't get the last bubbles out so had to resort to a bit of foam.

I used the filter foam from an Eheim 1250 pump which fits perfectly into the Alphacool Plexi res top and worked an absolute treat - it hasn't so much slowed the flow down but stopped the turbulence in the res altogether so you can literally fill it completely to the top even with the pump running

http://www.coolercases.co.uk/images/htpc/zal_24.jpg

http://www.coolercases.co.uk/images/htpc/zal_25.jpg

Then fill the Res cap with whatever liquid your using and stick it in the freezer for 20minutes or so until it freezes - make sure you have the res filled up right to the brim then screw the cap back on with the frozen liquid inside - frozen liquid melts and it gets rid of the air that normally gets trapped in the lid...........genius :)

I have pushed it to 3.55GHz @ 1.625v... I couldnt get much higher otherwise Orthos failed almost immediately. This computer is the first one Ive ever built, so a like, 45% overclock is not too shabby for me. I could probably hit 3.6 with like, 1.65v, but I dont know...

I want that 50% overclock sometime... maybe when I get water this summer.

I was in a 16C room and with my SI-120 with some POS Thermaltake fan I was hitting 49C load.

sreedx2
03-08-2007, 09:07 PM
Yeah that is still good, I am also happy with my OC but I would like more .. or lower temps some C2D`s can reach go much higher with a lot lower Vcore :slobber:

SreedX2,

Just an observation. I would fill the drain port completely with fluid. Leaving an unfilled section that is subject to condensation (and other forms of growth) is not the smartest idea.

I have seen a lot of people getting to 3.6GHz with less than 1.5v... they have different motherboards than I do. The Infinity 975X/G that I have was one of 5 or 6 that were avaliable when the Core2's were released in August, so I grabbed it knowing DFI could get me high clocks. I am very pleased with my first (and not my last) DFI board.

damn,

I never thought about that, great tip Ian. For me it's my fill line to the EK res. Since I have the MM UFO Horizon, I keep a little longer and looped so I can pull it out for easy filliing.

hhmm strange, but I'm not running it @ 12v but just a few V's i think 1/8 of his power cause the pump runs too fast for me when @ full....
I don't believe the pressure/flow stories for better temps...I just want a silent pc
and I don't think the pump dies quickly with power @ 1/8...

Iceman, I bow to your 4GHz stable result only on watercooling, I would just like to know your secret, maybe it's that the chipset is water cooled, don't know, but 4GHz 24/7 on only 1.6V, that sounds so impossible to me, I checked out your result at 4GHz club and I can't be more impressed, just bravo! :toast:

No secrets really - just what I learned on here and other places. Having a good cpu in the first place obviously helps too - so you gotta be lucky. I aint a pro clocker, far from it - I just rely on my luck to get me most of the way:D I've also got a 27b that I'm playing with atm that is also up to 4ghz but no where near stable as yet. It runs cooler than the 32b but dosn't scale with vcore aswell.

I'm urging you to put some clamps on the tubing, especially on this one. It looks ready to slip off the barb.:stick:

yeah, I was lucky until 3.5Ghz (1.4V on CPU set in BIOS, everything else in stock, 24hrs orthos stable) but after that anything over 3.6GHz needs crazy voltages, but who knows, I'm getting myself a HR-05 maybe it'll do the trick.

that has got to be a PITA to fill that t-line..

Polizei
03-20-2007, 12:01 AM
I think that T-line runs to a res... shouldnt be that bad if he fills the res and runs the pump for a couple seconds, fill the res again...

EDIT: Just saw the T-line in the bottom... I think its in the bottom so its easy for him to drain out the loop. Look at the top of the case in the front, there is a fillport running to the res.

So do you think reducing from 8mm to 6mm will not reduce the flow? I ' ll give a try otherwise I 'll put another pump with small reservoir

the block sells for $55 CAD here, pump was used for $30, and the BIP120 was $20 used also.

Temps are pretty good, quite a bit better than the Tuniq Tower and Noctua NH-U12 I was using before this. Haven't done a lot of testing, but with 1.5Vcore it stays under 65C still.

Do you know how much the different is?(example on 1.5vcore)

lowfat
03-25-2007, 11:58 AM
The Tuniq would barely handle 1.5Vcore, it would get to 80C+. The NH-U12 would do about 75C. So a good 10C difference. Theses were all with a single Yate Loon 120mm.

Outperform the Tuniq with a 100$ setup is incredible, but what CPU speed and volts dit you use to compare the Tuniq and 100$ setup?

first of all, your crazy if you actually think alienware would actually set up a system like this. the only thing that alienware setup in this whole rig is the THE CASE, and i bought the case off of EBAY auction..

the whole pcs itself is set up by myself, and yes a 120.2 RAD is more than enough for this set up, a 2nd rad does not improve the temps. check my temps and benches in the rest of the forum :).

i had the similar system before with an alienware case as well. a8n-sli prem, 3800x2, SLI 7900gtx, and the cpu (apogee) and vid cards were cooled (DD NV-78) and with this case since its very restrictive the temps do go up when all closed but with the WC its no problem, and with this rig before i mounted everyting i ran initial tests with the full loop, NB,SB, vid cards, cpu, and temps were fine outside, and when inside temps are still excelent in the CLOSED case, trying to figure out though how to get more air moving inside the case,

ty for your comments, need ideas of how to get some FRESH air into it, :)

You have your hose going into the res in the "NOT SO OPTIMAL" postition. The bottom of the res should be the "OUT TO PUMP", and the hole above that one (top one, but not the top fill hole) should in from RES. Incase this matters, just thought I wouold tell ya

How does that work out for you, with the rad being on bottom? Does it ventilate well? Temps?

It works pretty well. Has been running like that since a few months now with 3 different loop. (same rad mounting way but with 3 different loops. D5, MCP355, Storm, Apogee, MCW60s etc...) And always had super temps. As you can see, between the case and Rad grill i placed some mosquito net so that the comp doesn't become a dust crap.

With my new E6600 (And my current WC set-up) at 3.6Ghz (9x400) 1.42v i never get temps over 48Degrees After few hours of stressing (Fans undervolted) with Orthos Small FFTs - Stress CPU test. And i idle at about 23Degrees.

The order did cost about 120$ USD if i remember right. And Quoc labeled the box as a gift and i paid 17$ CAD Canada post fee for handling priority courier\EMS items ?! I thought i was supposed to pay nothing but oh well 17$ CAD isn't that bad.

those are excellent temps patriote! whats your ambient? thats an incredibly low voltage on that 3.6 too, have you tried 4.0? thats good looking stuff

Heh yeah they are and i hope they'll be even better with new stuff that arrive today :D

Nope haven't tried anything higher. I received the E6600 about a week ago from a good friend and i tried 3.6Ghz right away with 1.4v After some tweak i found that it needed 1.42v to get stable for many hours of Orthos.

I won't have time to do some more Ocing or re-do my loop with my new parts for some time. My dad is at the hospital and have much more thing to see before. But ill be sure to post back some pics when im done :)

The Story: She's been in use for a little over a year. The only changes since I built her is both of the x1900's died (Long Story.) and I sold my other Raptor on Ebay for some extra cash I needed for bills. Also It was originally in a CM Stacker 810 but it is currently sitting in my shed in pieces after an unsuccessful modjob (Ran out of money and Patience. Had so many problems with it I gave up.)

Please excuse the horrid wiring job. Its hard to do in this case and im not really worried about it. It's temporary while i work on my wooden cube.

I could've gotten them replaced but in my haste to build it last march i threw away the stock coolers when i put my tyee's on. What happened to your 1900? on both of mine the voltage regulator closest to the mobo cracked in half. they were several months apart but it was the same one. Im assuming it was a manufacturing defect. Still an ATi Fan tho!

Wow, cracked? Maybe too much pressure from the tyee mounting? Mine just was starting to artifact randomly or turn the screen all green (or blue) with streaks of colored dashed lines. Really weird. It would happen sometimes upon bootup, or going from 2D to 3D clocks or back to 2D when getting in or out of a game. If it didn't do it at those times it worked fine, even during hours of gaming, but those switches would make it screw up. Wasn't drivers or directX or Windows, I reinstalled all of those. Only thing I could think of is the card had some sort of problem switching clocks on the fly. So I've been without my card for a couple weeks now :( This weekend I get my new one though!

Well, I expect two Lian Li rheobus controllers tomorrow and and handful of Papst fans next week. In the mean time it will be (urg) Noctua's on the rad. I'm going to add casters, sound dampening, vibration dampening, lap the CPU, and install all the stuff on Thursday. I'm excited!

I already have a problem. The rear fan wires (92 mm fans) won't reach the fan controller. I can't find extensions. I was thinking of splicing in a few inches of wire so that they will reach. Any suggestions? Again, i want to hide these wires, so that's taking a little extra thought.

Ps I'm going to do a photo work log, nothing special. just a few shots as things progress

No i dont think it was pressure. The voltage reg cooler on the Tyee doesnt use screws it uses the stock spring things from the crappy one. My first x1900 died in October I think. The other one died this january. The funny thing is my master card went first and it was really sudden. I woke up one day and couldnt get a picture out of it. Also when my slave card died i was playing BF2142 and my pc just shutoff like it overheated. I had taken the waterblock off for a good cleaning and put on an Arctic Cooling Accelero. Never got a picture out of it after that. When i pulled the block off about half the volatge reg came off with it and there was that horrid smell of burnt plastic. I was broken hearted :-(.

These things are hitches sealing on each site. So I can uncouple the radiator from the rest of the system by loosing only some drops of water. The flow resistance isn't very low, right, but the flow rate is at all not very important. I prefer to have a bit worse temps than without hitches and the possibility to transport my system for LANs better. With a third pair of these hitches it is also easier to get the water out of the system.
I hope you can understand what I mean ;).
