Its actually a 4" TFT and it came from a company called Flat Vision (http://www.flatvision.co.uk/)
Its running a custom version of Samurize (http://www.samurize.com/modules/news/) to show PC stats on the pictures above but the picture quality is amazing for DVD/Media for such a small screen.

Malik, how quiet is the pump(assuming it's the HPPS+ as opposed to the HPPS)? I'm considering one over a D5, but I haven't seen any direct comparisons.

yah i mounted the harddrive brackets on the 120.2 radiator in the back, there is very little room between the back of the harddrives and the back of the 5 1/4 bays.. but with a little patience it worked out fine

PAs are pretty thick :)
PAs are VERY thick! I would say twice the thickness of a corresponding DD or Swiftech one. I assume this is why they perform so well... But what I dont get is how they perform well with the lower CFM fans... I would think it would need higher cfm to blow all the heat out of there. Counter intuitive, i guess.
Polizei
02-12-2007, 06:50 PM
The lower CFM fans like Yates have high static air pressure, which is good for forcing the air through the radiator, not the CFMs.
I read somewhere that someone compared a Yate Loon fan to a Thermaltake. The Thermaltake had more air flow (higher CFM) but the yate had substantially higher static air pressure. The Yate Loon gave better performance with the tested radiator due to the fan blade design.

His temps are extremely off and his loop is terrible. Good job. :slap:
90* barbs do hurt flow, thus affecting performance. Small tubing, it's really not that big of an issue but larger is preferred. And the blocks hes using?

if you know what's a pressure drop and which are the differences between 2 different ID tubing or barbs...i think you should try to post a useful comment or some good councils, and not a terrible comment like this.

well...not in his system, so there's one comparision. Zalman makes pretty good WC gear. Not a sexy as the Storm, Fuzion or maybe the Agua stuff, but still works well in the right build, depending on what your trying to cool, and what the req's are. Some of Zalmans passive cooling stuff really works well.

Thanks, I ran a 1 & 1/4" 6-32 machine bolt through the fan grill, a rubber washer, the fan body, into the radiator. I tapped the rad to 6-32 prior to assembly of course. The case is a Lian Li PC-7077B. The fans are Yate Loons controlled by a Sunbeam rheobus, usually at 7v. All you can hear is the air moving, the fans themselves make virtually no noise.

Can you get those at home depot or lowes? By the way where did you get that grill from?

Yes, you should be able to find them at any hardware store. I got the fan grill here:

Hey AuroraProject. I've been looking on-line for those bolts of yours and I can't find any. I'll check my local hardware stores when I have time but for now could you post pics of those bolts. Also What did you mean by "I tapped the rad to 6-32 prior to assembly and did you have to buy the rubber washers seperate?

Go to http://www.mcmaster.com/ and search through their listings, I know they carry them. I bought some 1.5" but they turned out to be too long, so get 1.25". The radiator came with self tapping sheet metal screws, but that wasn't going to work for me, so using a tap I cut 6-32 threads in the radiator mounting holes. The rubber washers were bought from performance pc's, but I think you could get them from McMasters for a lot less.

Ok, so you'll need 4 of those for each fan. 6-32 is the size and thread pitch. You'll need a 6-32 tap and a tap handle to cut threads in the radiator. If you want to use a Radgrill you'll also need 4 8-32 bolts around 1/4"-1/2" long and some 8-32 nuts to secure the grill to the case.
Be very careful tapping the radiator, if the tap hits the fins or cooling passages you may end up with a leak. Take it slow and watch the tap closely.

No, you'll need eight 6-32 bolts 1.25" long for the fans, and 4 four 8-32 .5-.75" long bolts and four 8-32 nuts to secure the grill to the case.
8-32 wont fit into the rad, and probably wont fit through a fan either.

bottom line is YES.
I would suggest the cpu block is mounted very loose or uneven. Have you used the chip with air cooling? If so what temps are you getting?
What temp monitor are you using? If its speedfan you might as well use your clock to tell you the temperature, get intel TAT.
If you are using intel TAT you have big problems, stock cooling doesn't idle anywhere near 50c.
I idle at about 32ish in a fairly warm house, I would suggest I have something like 25 ambient thats with the cpu in its own loop but only on a 120.1 with a 2 fans on push/pull at 5v each.
thunderstruck!
02-27-2007, 03:28 PM
Aside from that, there is a kink under the gpu outlet. Also, keep in mind, if you are pulling air from inside the case, your limiting the efficiency of the rad. It sounds like a very hot environment.

Great looking build there AuroraProject. I was just looking at your picture closely. Is that a DD TDX CPU block you have in the loop, or similar design? If so, it apears you have the inlet off center, and that pretty much thwarts the block design and hurts temps under load. Just thought I'd mention it, and again great looking build.

Thanks! It is the TDX and the orientation makes no difference in temps, I've had it mounted both ways and saw zero difference.

I've also recently replaced it with a D-Tek Fuzion.

perfection, what block are you using on the CPU, and what rads are you using? Also check for any kinks. Maybe your CPU block just needs remounted.
no kinks.
loop details are in the order:
Laing DDC with Petra's top > BIX2 > Storm G4 > BIX > EK 8800GTX > Swiftech MCRES Reservoir > Laing DDC again

Ok, just thought I'd mention it.
And you might want to re read that post carefully.
He asking if the outside port can be used in the top or bottom position, not whether or not the center port is used for the inlet, and DD Jerm (one of the owners at DD) replys and I quote
"Nope...doesn't matter as the Inlet port is designed to center over the core regarless of mounting orientation. Do what works best with your tube routing".
I'm really surprised you didn't see a difference on temps under load. Blocks not designed to work any other way. Pretty much like the FuZion is desigend to work with the center port as inlet, although different in function as the FuZion isn't a Impengment type block.
Again, no harm intended, just thought I mention it.

Oh, now I see what you're saying! No I have the loop setup as such:
Pump > Rad > TDX > Chipset > T-line > Pump
Sorry, I misunderstood your other post. I thought you meant it couldn't be mounted sideways like I have it. It is using the center port for the inlet.
No harm taken. :)

G thats nice, defo do some cable managment mind to really show it off. Nice short loop on the hose there. Only nig is the rad sticking up so much. Could it not be lowered or a rad box for it on the base?

I made a 60mm offset bracket to line up the barbs with the fan hole, everything fits thru the hole without breaking the system.

Most of you remember my old setup with the Lian Li PC7B & Tri-Rad. That was a little OTT so I decided for something a bit on the conservative side.
So I went air, and lasted about a week before I had a major craving for water again. One thing I'll say, when you've gone water there is no turning back.

Garu,
You better put a rubber grommet in that hole where your tubing exit/enters your case to protect the tubing, the edges of the hole might be sharp.
Those 2 blue fans in the front of your case that are blowing at your harddisks,
what size and make are they?
Those look perfect for cooling RAM.

I can't seem to find good pair grommets, I tired local hardware stores... Which ones do you suggest? As you can see, I'm using 1/2" ID Tygon tubing.
Those 2 blue fans are actually blowing towards the motherboard. My mb temp used to be 45C idle. With those blowing it dropped to 34C idle.

This is a new build, no cable management as u can see as i will soon be building my own case. I am fed up with trying to fit the parts i want into a case that is not designed for water cooling. This one does work OK though and keeps my e6600 3600mhz oc around 48 degrees under full load.
I know all those angles are far from ideal, they will go as soon as my 8800s arrive with sli blocks from DD:)
The loop is as follows: pump1-PA 120.3-cpu(fuzion)-NB (maze4)-pump2-blackice stealth 3-SB-7900gtx(innovatek blocks) and back to pump1. The res u can see behind is just to fill the T-line. the first pump (DCC2) is behind the rad in the bottom and the second is just next to the lose floppy drive (soon to go also!).
I turn the psu around so that is helps suck air out from behind the PA120.3.
Sorry my photos are naf, need to fined a better way to reduce their size!
thunderstruck!

Wow, shame about the fitting but they are G1/4 thread anyways!!
You don't have to use those fittings. That's just what someone else put in there. Just use EK high flow barbs, they screw right into the block.

Krueml,
I don't understand why a lot of Germans, especially on sites like hardwareluxx.de think that 1/2" ID is very ugly. Those tubes look like the logical size to me.
You always have the most pretty machines. Everyone I have seen of yours has been stunning!

Hey guys long time lurker 1st time watercooler here.
This is my 1st time setting up a watercooling rig....damn it was hard to shove the tubing onto the barbs!
Anyway I went and modded a Powermac G5 case with the internals of a pc and went with an internal watercooling solution while trying to keep the outside of the case as simplistic and asthetically pleasing as possible.
currently it's being leak-tested so i plan on cleaning up the wiring later.
BTW can anyone recommend som quick connect barbs?
I'm thinking if i need to service this again in 6 months it's gunna be a pain considering the pains i went through to get it set up
tell me what you guys think

bought it on ebay...came up to 150 after shipping.
Cut out the back threw in a coolermaster wavemaster tray that i ordered direct from coolermaster for 19 bucks after shipping. bolted it in the back.
Getting the computer up and running was the easy part...figuring out where to put the PSU, HDD and leave enough room for the watercooling stuff was the difficult part....oh and dont get me started on how i had to get to the powerbutton/front I/O panel working.

I suggest you use warm water, or hold the hose ends over hot water to get them on the barbs, that or buy bigger tubing 1/2 in size seems your barbs are to big for your tubing size and that can be dangerous when taking things apart and stuff.
Funny aint it ? Its actually a Clorox wipe container for disinfecting and stuff. I made it last nite actually hehe

I cleaned off the plastic covering the case last night and cleaned up the wires a bit.
It's missing just a little bit of lighting inside...I dont wanna go overkill though...maybe 1 or 2 blue LEDs just to give it a nice little glow...nothing too bright though

Do you have any more, more detailed pictures? I am trying to pick up a G5 case for a decent price to put a PC in it, however it looks like it is going to be a hassle. I am worried that the PCI/PCIe slots aren't going to be in line definately with a crossfire setup.
What is the rest of the equipment used in the G5?
modded a perfect seal barb for better flow.

I dont think getting an sli crossfire setup to line up would be that difficult considering the motherboard tray i used is the default tray for an atx motherboard.
You HAVE to cut out the back, it's unavoidable, if you want to have pci slots that will match up to the back of the case.
I got this idea from another person who did this mod. (google aquamac)Basically u just cut out enough from the back to slip in a removable motherboard tray. (the one we used was from a coolermaster wavemaster series...VERY easy to get...if you call up coolermaster's customer service line and ask to purchase one they will send one to you. I had one ripped out of a coolermaster case when i called and shipped over for 19 dollars after shipping. Very nice customer service support.) Drill some holes in the motherboard case to either screw in some screws and nuts or you can pop rivet in place.
you can also drill holes into the tray to match up with the g5 case holes and screw it into place, i found after i screwed the tray into the back of teh g5 that this really wasnt neccesary.
I have more pics at home...once i get home i'll post em. It looks really clean in the back when you use a motherboard tray rather than just screwing a motherboard in place and using the default back of the G5. One of the major pluses of using a mobo tray is you're not limited to 4 pci slots that's on the back of the G5.
I would say the hardest parts of the mod was getting the PSU up top and routing the AC adapter to the bottom, cutting out the back and figuring out the pinouts on the front panel board.
My power button works but Apple uses some sort of internal circuitry to split up power and led signals so i had to wire the power button directly and bypass the I/O panel. The Power LED doesnt work but that's not hard to remedy..i can just make a little board with some leds on it for hdd and power and let it glow through the mesh.
anyway more pics when i get home.
hope that helps a little
if you look at my current pics, yes my psu fan point down onto the vid card, i've placed my hand under it to see how hot it got and it barely was noticable.
the back of my psu has mesh on it and it points to the back of teh g5 case so ventilation is not a problem cramming it all the way up there.
another great thing about using a motherboard tray was being able to route the power cables and stuff under the tray.
components in the case
mobo: Gigabyte 965p-dq6 (some people told me using the case inverted would mess with the heatpipe, but i checked gigabyte's info on their heatpipe and it does utilize a wick...so placement is not a problem)
PSU: seasonic 600w m12
cpu: e6600
Mobo tray : coolermaster wavemaster
dvd: samsung sata
hdd: seagate 7200.10 500gb sata drive (I had some issues figuring out the best way to mount the hdd...in the end i screwed in 4 mobo standoffs drilled the plate under the optical drive and screwed it in place...it worked perfectly...the mobo standoffs served as a gap to help airflow above(under) the hdd
ram: 2gb corsair xms2 ddr2 800
gpu: sapphire x1950xtx

http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/9657/dsc00144largesy4.jpg
As you can see i had to cut the drive tray in half...this made it easier to service the drives so i didnt have to take out the PSU with everything.
