nice, I wonder what you have to change in the drivers 44.03 to make it work with the 5900XT..

TNX guys for appreciating my humble job... I just found it useful for people to gather all the information i know.

EmineM
to use 44.03 with 5900XT u need to make two changes in nv4_disp.inf.

1. Search for "[NVIDIA.Mfg]" part. You need to add there one more string:
%NVIDIA_NV35.DEV_0332.1% = nv4_NV3x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0332

2. In "Localizable Strings" part add:
NVIDIA_NV35.DEV_0332.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900XT"

k thanks :) I done that, I just rebootet but still doesnt work. Do I have to reinstall the driver somehow without overwriting the nv4_disp.inf ?

try uninstalling the drivers first so you boot with generic and then try it !

There is a thread on this somewhere in relation to 5700U and some later cards that do not like 44.03.

Ah here it is

erm. You have to modify not the INSTALLED driver and THEN install it... And it will be MUCH better if you take that strings i mentioned directly from other driver (i.e. 53.03) and not from my post - there are additional spaces in them and it could be a problem...

What i did ...
I downloaded 44.03.exe

I install it into C:/NVIDIA
I go modify the inf file
I go hit Setup to install it
I reboot
and still nothing..

Is it different than the other 5900's? I don't see why it would be. I just modified the line for 5800 to say 5950 in the nv4disp.inf file and did an "update driver" from the device manager.

I had the 44.03 driver already installed so I could just hit update so it would start working.

problem is device manager wont even list the video devices sind there is no driver pre installed... i will install 53. and then try switching to 44. somehow

No I installed 44.03 and booted into windows with it installed. It just won't work because it won't recognize the card. It would just use the default driver for now. The card would show in device manager with a yellow ! next to it. I just modify the file and update driver...I don't know if the procedure is different for your card but ALT-F13 would know more about that.

got it to work.
Installed 52
then went update driver
chose the file like kunaak did. wrote over the 52 files and have 44.03 installed now... thanks for your help soul

On a fresh install, I use the 4403s for a few benches. I simply opened the nv4_disp.inf and added an XT at the end of the 5900 line and delete the nVidia and put SPQQKYs in its place :). Then I go to device manager and right click the exclamationed display adapter and click update driver. Then I just choose where the file is and it installs.

the 44.03 does not support the fx cards, but tricks can be used to make it somewhat work. useless in games, helps with nature in 3dmark but people view it as cheating though

Yep, that's a cheating... But as EVERYONE in TOP-10 GF59x0 challenge use 44.03, it's a legal cheating :)

Im kinda experiencing difficulties with my FX5900XT on default Aopen Bios..
Anything clocked over 420 / 820 would drop my scores to 18k... I dont think heat is a problem because Im cooling with dry ice.

If I put 420 / 820 then everything runs through and i get 21k runs.
I think something in the bios is limiting me, holding me back... are there any good modded bios'es? Is there a possibility to flash this card in Windows, like with the ATi cards? And where can I find a guide to flashing a NV bios.

Oh yea, and what should I put in my LodBias Range in Riva tuner?

the 44.03 does not support the fx cards

It most certainly does. The driver was originaly written with the FX series in mind, up to the 5900. We just have to rewrite or add the lines for cards like the 5700 Ultra, 5900XT and 5950 Ultra. More smack from you, Ti4200.

ALT-F13 do you have a working vmem mod?

ALT-F13

Haldol
Yes, at 3.4V it raised from 955 to 1075 MHz. The same mod Macci and others did, but it worked fine for me.

Macci said: "its the second ISL pin 5 to GND"
Where is that second ISL? And where do you start counting for pin 5 ?

Is the second ISL the ISL with number 2 on it in this pic?
