Ive got a Mach I and with some of the newer boards they dont have any kind of start delay.. what are my options besides a second PSU.. id like to try and keep everything together as far as looks and having a PSU to drag around kinda sucks..
thanks-Matt

Check this out: LINK (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=264031) This is what I used and it works fine. Plus it is not a big as using an actual PC Power Supply.
So what is needed to power it up just 12v on for the fans ? Then it can boot without a rig ?
Yeah All you need is a 12v supply, and of couse a wall outlet.
Matt having the extra psu makes you look more hardcore. ;)

I am using the 1500ma Radio Shack supply wired to an on/off switch on the front of my PC. Hit the red switch first ... wait for -33 then press the power button. Very simple

So first press the power button, then hit the red switch ? .... D'OH !

LOL .... done that, the P4 survived. An AMD would have died!

I bet your heart skipped a beat there :D
That is a realy good idea...I might get a cool switch for it, like one of the military bomb style ones where you have to lift the latch before flipping the switch, and use that for the power switch to avoid exactly what happened to you :toast:
Can't you just use some sort of timer as a start-automatic. Hm but what could this be ..

Frost free refrigerators have a fan delay switch mounted on the evap. After defrosting, the evap is still wet and warm, so the switch won't allow the fan to start until the evap is frozen. This would be ideal for automatic start, not allowing the PC to power up until the evap is frozen.

The ideal system would be to sense the voltage going to the Mach1 fans. When the voltage is greater the 1v but less that 9v, turn on the PS.
Whan a Mach1 is first turned on, the fans are run at 12v. At -33c, the voltage is reduced to 7v(i think?).
Shut down would still have to be manual.

.....the ideal is a Mach 2/GT/ST or Vapo LS. They actually hold the MB power till the damn thing is cold enuff. Wow, what a concept :toast:

1. The Mach 1 does the same.
2. The Mach2 ST has an integrated timer and no temp-control.

The easiest and painless way to do it is just get a 1-2amp "Wall Wort" type 12 volt Power supply and use it for the 12 volt turn on. Put in an inline switch and you'll be good to go.
I Built my own Switch-Mode PSU and am using a different Temp switch controller that's used in A lot of industrial equipment that I can program myself to do basically anything AND as a bonus, the temperature reading of this unit is actually accurate and calibrateable AND I dont get a stupid beeping at -50c. Everything is integrated into the mach I chassis and you dont even know its there. I built a RF remote control unit so I just use the remote to turn on my computer, Stereo, Case lighting, plus I have 4 more outputs to use for whatever I want. This all cost me less than 100 bucks (US) to do.... Makes you wonder why the new Mach II and new Vapo LS's are sooo expensive... I Can tell you for a fact it is not the electronics that are adding the $400 more to cost over the Mach I.
I'm working on a mod to the Mach I's stock circuitry to make it send a single .5 second pulse to the turn on pin on your mother board when it reaches whatever temp you tell it (St 1). I Know it can be easily done for less than $10 in parts... Just gotta get some free time... When i do figure it out, I'll be sure to post it and make it very easy for all of you to do by yourself.
