Ok, what about this compressor? It's a Rotorex C121B118 115v L.R.A. 61. It's a 1 ton (5000btu) R22 scroll compressor. Will it be any good?

That's 585 BTU/Hr, not minute. 585 BTU = 171 Watts, presumably rated at -20C, using R12.
In other words, if your heat load is 171 watts, and you are using R12, then if all is well, you should be able to reach -20C. With a smaller heat load, and/or a higher pressure refrigerant, you should be able to reach a lower temp. Since it is designed for R12, it most likely contains mineral oil.

i have one of these, they are definitely not new compressors. id stay away if possible .
