Hi i have som questions about phasechange that i hope somebody could help med with:

1. how strong compressor do i need for a dual evap setup??? i would like it to be strong enough to keep about -40C under load. In the future i want to build a cascade system when im a bit more experienced so the compressor would also have to be a useable for the lowstage part of the cascade.

2. what tools to i need to create my own phasechange system???

3. My budget will be around 600$-700$ is this enough??

4. ive read a few threads about ppl using a "baker block" where can i get more info on these???

5.any tips for a phasechange n00b starting out??:D

whoops :rolleyes: been reading a bit more! the compressor is meant to be used in the highstage part of a cascade in the future.(not low) :D

For starters, if you havent made a single evap system first, I strongly suggest to start off simpler that way, once you get that down, then move on to the dual evap. Tweaking a dual evap system can be rather difficult from what I have heard and takes some experience to get it to work the way you would want it to.
As far as your budget goes, 600 dollars will be plenty, but you can build phase-change systems for really cheap, just check any junk yards ect, for comperssors and condensors. As far as tools go, good set of guages are really good to have, not necassary, but makes life easier. I suggest brazing over soldering, for this you will need atleast a mapp gas torch, some use oxy/acetone torches and other hotter ones, but the mapp gas works great. If you braze I recommend stay-silv 15 brazing rods, Ive also used copper/phospurous ones, work just the same. Vacumm pump will also be needed to prevent headaches of moisture in the system, alot of people use a spare compressor for this, me included, works great.
