View Full Version : what do i need to go get?

hey guys i just got my first promie and i need to go buy the grease and all that water proofking stuff. can anyone tell me what i need to pick up? plus a good how too link as far as aplying the seal string and the little square of gasket under the cpu socket? you know things like that? sorry for being such a noob but this is my first time doing this and i dont want to mess up. the stores close around here about 830 so please guys help me out...

If you want to go that route and your in a hurry, get some di-electric grease t the auto-parts store and some conformal-coating at Frys or any electronics store. Radio shack may have conformal-coat

Also read the manuel.

I didn't do any of that on mine. seal string and thermal compound is all i used.

Is that bad :eek:

why do you need all of that? just install it oem?

i dont need all this crap? i can just use seal string and thermal grease? what about the socket holes? shouldnt i put some dielectric grease in there to pervent rusty pins? plus what about the space under the cpu shouldnt i seal that off with some clear silicone and a cut out piece of foam or somthing like that? im all confused? im heading over to tomshardware to see his video. please guys lets have some pointers... i need as many as i can get right now...

I only used what was sent from the factory also. At one time, I did use dielectric grease in the socket plug, but I don't know if that was necessary.
