Okay, so I've been reading up on making phase changes and such, but I have a few questions I couldn't find answers to.

This was the easiest diagram I found, now where does the line for the evaporator come out? Also, anyone direct me to a good place to learn how to make an evaporator? Also, can I use R1150 in a single stage compressor? Much thanks all :toast:

the capilary tubing goes after the filter/drier and goes into the evaporator

There is some very useful stuff found here.

I also have some detailed pics of my evaporators here.

They are made with just a simple drill press, look skanky, but they work well.
I run the cap tube inside the suction hose and I seperate it out from the suction line through a "T" joint like this.

look for single stage system's.and the gases they use..;)

Tell me why I can't? So I assume then the higest I can use is 404 or 507?

R1150 needs a condensing temperature of at least -20 to work this will still give you high head 250+, If you were to use r1150 in a single stage it would have a head of 450 to 500 and that is it the compressor will bypass and you will lose the valves in the compreassor. I f you had a compressor capable of higher pressures it would also not work as you would be above the critical temperature of the gas and it would remain a gas no matter how much you could compress it. I would look into getting some R22 or R507/404 for a start. Propane is another alternative but it has handeling issues and if you are not carful you can get hurt.

Yea, I figured the pressure would be a little too much...well, i wouldn't want to hurt my family or anything...so it it that hard to get any 507 or 404 in the US? Like can you recommend a place to get it for a reasonable price....

In the us you will need to be certified. Or you may contact a local refrigeration company.Or if yoou have a friend in the business. You can use R1150 in a single compressor autocascade with another lower pressure gas as a first stage. But them it gets complicated and not for the novice.

okay so the idea that I got is that the capilary tube sprays in to the middle of the evaporator and then the suction line sucks it back in to the loop...okay sounds good...so chilly would you like to be my best friend?

why don't you use r-290??? its cheap and abundant.... Also its not dangerous if used properly

Well like I said I'm learning still and the only ones I read about are R22 R404 R507 and R1150....so that's why I didn't think of it...where can I get it?

r-290 is propane, so you can find it anywhere... also its really cheap

if you dont pull a really good vacum though you could be in troble.
a little oxygen + R290= bomb.

uhhh...in that case I'd like to use something that is a tad less dangerous....I think I'm just gonna do R507 that would yeild the lowest temps right?

Yea R507 is the best for single stage pretty much but its like 200 dollars for a 20lb bottle and you need to be EPA certified.

How dangerous is R290 really? If I tripple evac with a 5.2k BTU AC compressor will I be ok?

heres a system that has recently been posted.
the block used here is a simple but effective design

or you could even order the baker block.

Wow, that is one nice one...and I think i might order a baker actually....where could I get them again?
