Hi all.

I did post this in another section but didnt get any replies.

Basically im thinking of going for dual 37gb raptors and wanted some oppinions on what raid card to buy.

ATM im thinking of just getting your basic 2 channel silicon image card, cheap one.

Im unlikely to go 4x37gb in raid 0 any time soon, so I dont need a 4 channel card.

However you can buy more expensive 2 channel jobs.. any point in doing this for a raid0 setup?

Thanks for any and all advice.

I wouldnt think so since you are running raid0.

Save the money until you need the added support of the 4 channel cards. I would then put some serious consideration into a "better" card.

Ive always been an Adaptec fan, but I hear the cards from Sonnet arent to bad as well.

The big difference with a more expensive card will be the onboard processor, and possibly the ability to add memory for caching. Most of the cheaper add ins are tha same as the onboard controllers in that they use CPU cycles. One of the more expensive ones should include an onboard processor (like an Intel 80303), and fixed or expandable cache. I have a Promise S150 SX4 and it is a POS. So I would say stay away from promise, go adaptec or something else.
