well it's not really mobile, just a desktop with an IHS..
same default voltage, so oc wise probably the same
review there claims 8w less than desktop cpu's - don't trust newegg reviews ?

Yeah, I would beleive that it consumes alittle less power since it's a mobile. If that is correct, it should run a couple degrees cooler than a desktop version.

My mobile barton is running 4 degrees cooler than my desktop 2500+

It's not a mobile just a Desktop Replacement.
`s
2500+ : 68.3W
A64 : 89W
mA64 : 81.5W (3000+,3200+,3400+)

thnx for the answer - `schrOet ...
btw - the 3dmark03 score of your 9800xt is a bit low - isn't it ?

Thats cause I was benching on air ;) with no mods, but then again you have a good score I dunno I'm not an experienced 3Dmark bencher as I hate all FutureMark benches lol.
I still don't know how to run different tests at different times on 3Dmark01...
And I don't have my 9800 XT anymore sold it, benching with 9500 Pro now.

do not underestimate the power of 9500pro !
i had 2 and i am sorry for selling them and buying 9800pro and 9700np - not much of a differnce - and cost me a lot more ....
as i have lcd monitor and can play games up to 1280X1024 max - 9800pro is a waste of money for me - 9500pro will do as well as the 9800 for me ... !

If it overclocks like its mobile 2500+ brethren, than this thing is dam good!
http://images10.newegg.com/productimage/19-103-443-01.JPG
why not get this instead of the real desktop version, this doesn't come with a heatspreader too!
that is one of the reasons i looked it over - no heatspreader - this will give 2-3 degrees below desktop versions ....

I don't know how sturdy the DTR are now, but I recall earlier when some people were removing the IHS from the A64 they got chipped cores easily when mounting heatsink / vapor block on it.
Thats why I never removed the IHS off mines.

can u buy those sponge dots from XP chips and install them on the mobile A64?? that should help alleviate the crush core problems. I saw them for sale somewhere.
u can improvise something as well ...
u can find sponge everywhere - cut it and stick it with thermal glue or something ...
thats what i did on my intel chipset on my P4P800 ...just cut small bits of sponge and stick em on with double sided tape ;)
does anyone actually have one of these mobile chips and OC'd it?

I'm running a DTR 3400 and Kingpin has one 2. You have to do some modifications to what ever kind of heatsink you are using to lower it, so it contacts the cpu die. I know someone that had to flash backwords top the 10/30 bios as his DTR would not boot in his shuttle. There is a thread in the AMD section where I posted my experiance with this DTR. http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=32019

Hunt down this score:

Should be easy for you with A64. That's my best with 9500 Pro before I broke it. :(
Would have been alot higher now with XP-M, BH-5, higher FSB and better cooling on the card. Probably a couple of voltmods to.
Great card :D
Sorry for offtopic.

thats the cpu limitation kicking in. people that get the 6800u and x800(next gen cards) that dont have the fastest cpus wont be too happy. even my cpu is bottlenecking my ti4200, my fps in games soar when I oc my cpu, but dont change very much with my ti4200 oced

I'm already at 17183 with 351/331, I still think I can push the core another 50 mhz and the mem another 20 :D
Should be interesting ;)
Oh yeah I'm a nub when it comes to 3DMark benching... How can I make Car Chase low run last? lol sorry for the nubness

I don't believe overclocked A64 or P4 systems will be bottlenecked by the cpu. My A64 system has been bottlenecked by the gpu (both 5900U and highly oc'd R300 card). There is little difference in performance(games or 3dmark) going from 2.2 ghz to 2.5ghz. Higher gpu clocks make a difference though...

That was true 1 week ago, but it will take a 4.6ghz p4c or 3ghz A64 to even the cpu/gpu bottleneck now.
cpu speed will make a BIG difference now.
A 9800xt @ 500/400 was a bottle neck for a 2.7-2.8ghz A64

Good point Yuri. With the introduction of the Nvidia 6800 and Ati R420, the cpu will most likely be a bottleneck. XP systems are bottlenecked by the previous generation of cards as well.

I have a ti4200 and I still gain more fps in games ocing my cpu than ocing my gpu if this says anything ;)

I may be wrong, but at ocforums I hear the A64 DTR's are pretty much guaranteed CG stepping for now...I heard AMD is switching to another stepping.
