Hey...
I'm looking for a budget cpu for my system
I have a Asus A7N8X-X and Kingston 512 Pc2700 Ram.

And i dont know what cpu i shall by for it?

I have looked at those:

AMD XP-M 2000+ The good thing about it is that it has a unlocked multiplier, but how high will it go?

AMD Barton 2500+ The bad thing about it is that it has a locked multi, and my ram wont go higher than 185 fsb, so i have to use divider (ratio) to get a reasonable overclock. But does it slow the system down much with using for example a: 3:4?

What should i choose? any other suggestions?

barton 2500... does the A7N8X-X allow for vdimm changes? if so up to 2.8v and u should be able to do 200 fsb at 2,3,3,7.

Yes of course it does. It's the same as yours just without the duallan, sataraid and stuff :=)

use THIS (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/michael.mcclay/A7N8X-X/1005X-Uber.rar) bios on your mobo, and up the vdimm to its max, see if u can go higher with that and loser timings..

Why not XP-M 2400? It does't cost much more than the XP2500 (at least here).

I'd take a 2200+ xp-m, especially in your case a unlocked cpu seems to be the right choice.

#13 Okey.... why is it a good choice in my case?

1. Unlocked Multipliers
2. Cheap
3. Often high o/c potential

Always leave it on 1:1 on NF2 Boards, everything else will cost lots of performance. I also recommend you to get some new ram.
