I think you'll see ATI boards on retail shelves at the same time if not before the 6800 cards. ATI had a 16 pipeline chip from day 1, it was just a matter of whether they were going to unlock them or not. If the Nvidia chip had come in with sub-par performance they would have stuck with 12 pipelines and used the 16 as a refresh. You don't simply take an 8 or 12 pipeline chip that has already been taped out and say "lets design a 16 pipeline chip real quick".

i would definitely wait till ATI drops their card, seems that for the last few years they have been making NVIDIA killer cards, so we'll see what they have this time.....

few more days im guessing till the official specs and reviews come out
