Got a couple of noob questions concerning these two boards.

Does a Mach II fit on these board, dunno how I would mount the Evap on the Socket, just install the bracket on it?

Does the DFI Infinity support Thermalright 947U?

Any other good advices :D thinking of going for an AXP setup until S939 is released.

I have no clue about the evap, but you will need a "Neo" backplate for the 947u to work i think ...

I'm thinking the same, stick with AXP waiting for S939... :)

well the Neo backplate needs mounting holes i Assume, but i dont find any mounting holes near the socket by the infinity.

AXP still rules ^^ for its price

yeah that's what i've heard for a month, "just a few weeks"

anyway, i'm waiting for PCI Express / solid chipset...good overclocking board / San Diego chips to come down in price a little from release...

First batch of S939 is shipping May 25th it's on AMD road map.

They're only shipping 50,000 worldwide tho for 939 (FX and 64 combined)

IMHO, with so little time before release, i would find it a waste of time and $$$ to get an AXP rig. I can wait a few months/weeks.

Ok guys, but most of us should drop the "/weeks." It is still probably at least a month if not two and more importantly -> don't expect lower model numbers guys. Even if it comes out in a month expect to buy a 3500+ to go along with it. Don't start saving yet because it's doubtful it will be here in 4 weeks.

Keeping or getting a cheap XP is not that bad idea. Though I wouldnt be doing it to just wait for 939 release. If just bored, why not go nuts on a cheap setup?I would be waiting for Socket 939, lower model A64's (I'll be shocked if thats very soon), and a mobo that supports PCI express so I can in good faith upgrade the video card at the time. Thats what I am looking to get in maybe 10 to 12 months. I dont mind swapping out boards down the road too too much, so I'll switch mobos or whatever when DDRII is actually good. I think you can find some merit in my upgrade path that holds some truths for others. Basically to consider the whole system and what else you want down the road. This will work for me. I upgrade my VC, CPU, and obligatory mobo when I want to and keep my gig DDRI kicking. Then I will be in a position to make the smaller upgrades as time goes. At worst second big upgrade to that down the road will be DDRII and mobo. For the tight wads the mobo hurts but that will be a long enough gap that I'd like another to try anyway.

Moral of the story.. Forget the weeks, its a month or more probably two. Get your wallets out for the CPU, and you still havent covered the future very well IMO. Several hundred bucks is no easy choice. The poster has a downright nasty system. How many A64's can one have until the New class of monster rigs show up? Hell if I were him Id even wait for the 90nm reviewing his specs. If boredom is the problem, give an XP some death.

yeah, what texuspete2k2 said.

i know i wount be upgrading to 939 for awhile, so i'm gonna just get a m2600+ and a R420 to hold me over :-D

Anyone know where to buy the Neo backplate for using the thermalrights on the DFI?
