View Full Version : CH-5,2.9V, how much MHZ u think ?
I am building an AMD rig for my small brother ...
we got so far -
mobile xp 2500 or 2600 (got two - one will be for sale )
NF7 rev 2.0
2X512mb mushkin pc3200 lvl1
now, i'm not gonna voltmod his mobo or something, just want it to work !
the max Vdimm of the mobo is 2.9V -
how much Mhz will i be able to run the ram at 2.9v?
is there a chance of 216mhz with 2-2-2-11 , or should i think again in the direction of 2-3-3-11 or something ?
thnx - and i know it's not a 100% answer - but still - your guess will help me ...
thnx !

yeah, 216 should come just fine. i had some Corsair 3200LL that would run 218 tight with 2.8v on my old A7N8X.
good to hear that !
more opinionz plz ... - It will help me sleep better till the ram arrives and I can see how far it can go ...

Most likely it will NOT run at 216MHz 2-2-2-11 with any voltage, but with 2-3-2-11 settings its like piece of cake, even with stock voltage.
that's also good to hear ...
My XMS3200ll v1.2 does 227 stable at 2236 timings. But that was with 2*256 and 2*512's dont clock as well I beleive
216 will do good for me -
i'm planning 216X11.5 with 1.7-1.75 Volts to cpu, it's going to be air cooled - so i want fast , quiet and stable ...
sorry for double posting and changing subject in the middle of a thred - but i've just changed the whole system idea - got a dfi infinity - so now - with 3.2-3.2 volt - how far can i take the ch-5 ?
thnx and sorry again !

if you are lucky maybe 240 2-3-2-11 at 3.2v newer ch5s can do that

to the OP:
the best way to answer this question is to try it out urself, because no one has the exact same ram as u so no one can tell u exactly how ur ram will behave

my ch-5 runs at 2/3/3/11 @2,6v 440 MHz
213-11-2-2-2 had my mushkin crap out with maximum bios vdimm possible being 2.9v - thanks to the nf7-s overvolting that really was 3.06v (old d10 bios). with d23 and 11-3-2-2 it did +230 (that was with 2x 512 mush pc3500 l1)
i am getting all the stuff next week - will update ...

216 should be a piece of cake.. I had KHX3500 CH-5 that would do 237MHz on 2.9V 11-3-2-2. 225 must be doable I think. (also on NF7-S btw)

Doesn't Mushkin have over-voltage protection in their CH-5? I always thought that was the reason for a lot of people getting bad oc's with Mushkin lvl. 1.

can someone authorize this ?
is it true or not ? coz i didn't read anything about that - but still - would like to get some info !
yea i'd greatly appreciate any verifaction of that statement by dave-x. i guess i'll return my mush ch5 then add some funds and go for their 2-2-2 bh6 sticks.

I had mine at 210fsb with stock nb cooler and a hot night. Going for 230 stock when my mobo comes back from rma.
210 for 3500' ch5 is about par. if you say default, do you mean x-3-3-2 or what?

Sorry guys, I don't know if my statement is true. I just heard it in the memory forum...it would be really helpful if somebody could confirm that.
I'm sorry for bumping this thread - but i need a confirmation about this issue -
Is it true that mushkin pc3200 lvl1 has voltage limit ?
