not bad.. still to high ras to cas and so on :)

at least they are improving the timings at little bit at faster clocks. hopefully the prices will drop when they release ddr2 this summer. I cant wait to see how many people pay twice as much for something that is slower.

bah... The main performance gain is not the cas, but the ras to cas and precharge time. They are still at 4-4 . 3-3-3 at 250 would rock, whereas 2.5-4-4 is caca.

Can't wait for them to make OCZ EB PC4400...maybe it'll be 2.5-2-2-5 :slobber:

That would be a milestone...pc4x00 that is actualy worth buying :D

Hey, if AMD does keep the HT divider at 4x when they transition to 1GHz HT, DDR550 might come in handy ;). Stock 250 HTT would be awesome :slobber:

No need to bring out the BH-5 :(. We all know Winbond left the memory market and we have to move on. But nice clocks on the ram nonetheless! Very Xtreme . Almost matches up to lastviking's DFI LANParty B mem clocks...

I know...I am having a terribly tought time letting it go...as long as I have enough for me :D

Why can't someone else top bh-5? it has been almost 2 years since bh-5 came out hasn't it?

Haha thats great... everyone's all trying to get away from the train from hell aka BH-5 and post a .5 differential in CAS...

Then BAM BH-5 train comes back and runs over it!!

I'm liking what OCZ is doing, gives me hope that their DDR2 is gonna be some kick arse stuff!

My relationship with OCZ is very positive.. Their effort in taking the extra step, is second to none!! Look for some really good things from them in a short time to come.. My affiliation is on a very personal level!!

I am so angry that other memory manufacturers drove Winbond out of business. They couldn't even stay in business through a process reduction by moving to CH-5 . It is just a reminder to all of us that we are still subject to mainstream demand and we are but a small niche in the market.

Quite the opposite DaveX.. Its actually guys like you that drive the industry to higher levels of achievment.. The standards are often changed because the small niche demands it.. Winbond is an unfortunate loss to us all, but strategies are changing.. Their legacy will not be forgotten.. Your drive to have the fastest, most reliable system memory has not gone un-noticed.. As evidenced by my presence!!

Alright dude but I think I speak for a few when I say we'd like to know the "personal" ties. I presonally like to know whether Im talking to Joe Blow Sixpack like me or an employee of a firm. Honestly, if you wanted to keep a secret, why allude in the first place!

I can think of a lot of situations like this. "I have something I have to tell you.... ah... nevermind." then the guy on the other said has to know. Been there before?

On topic... yeah 4-4 is a deal killer. The moves the product lines are taking on now will help bring in sales to the hobbyists that know SOME stuff about timings. And thats ok. They are buying what the pack says and I guess some performance boost is there. I'm taking the enthusiast stance. No 4-4 crap until the MHz can make up for it. People atocked up on BH5 for a reason. I think a lot havent seen anything appetizing yet. This two year old BH5 ram or whatever it is will have to do until that time.

My biggest fear and truth is that people are labelling this stuff low latency. I dont care : 2-4-4-7 isnt low latency and there will be some confusion. Given the High MHz... maybe 2.5-3-3-7 would suffice. Because even in the DDR400 arena, the differnce between the low latency and the others is sufficient. This dropping CAS by .5 harps more on the old theory that it is the important timing.

I got a pair of OCZ's PC4400 (not EL, the old ones) and they can almost manage 300FSB 1:1 at 3-4-4-8, at 293 FSB they are stable for 3dmark2001.

...but my bh5 at 5:4 still kick their butt

if this sticks could handle 2,5-3-3 they would really be good but at 2,5-4-4 they cant match with sticks that do 2-2-2

I would call my relationship to ocz personal...I often chat with ocz employees when they are off the job...but I am in no way affiliated to them, nor am I biased towards or against them.

It almost seems as though the memory industry is mourning the loss of winbond, much like we are, and they are all too sad to do anything. It is a good sign that ocz is atleast trying to make some improvements...they can only do so much with what they have.

I hope someone puts out some half way reasonable timings on ddr2 so that we don't have to pay more for worse performance.

We want winbond back and I want BH-4!!!

It would be a miracle if Winbond un-cancelled BH-4...

LOL!!! I'm no one important.. Just the eager overclocker that knows a person or two here and there!! LOL!! Sorry for the confusion.. What I would like to know is, what are you guys that are running the Opteron platform running on the timings? Are you using Enhanced latency memory timings, or some cas2 stuff? I see no reason to be running enhanced timings is there?

LOL!! As usual, I have to rely on myself and my voltmeter to get anything serious done.. One thing I do like about extreme forums, is there are alot of people just like myself, and some who may be even more extreme than I am.. LOL!!! Nothing like feeling like you dont have all the answers.. Its kinda kool, but in this case, I am either in the wrong thread for the question I have asked, or no one who has view my post has an answer.. Oh, well, I dont mind providing the answers.. LOL!! This is my first Opteron system, that is why I asked.. But I will have my own answer soon enough.. I just really like the atmoshpere, of all these guys who dont care if it blows up!! If it does, just buy another and try again.. Thats my philosophy.. Well nice to meet you guys.. Once I get my Opteron system smokin, I will update those that are interested.. But I hope I can run into the Xtreme Opteron crowd soon, thats the boys I would like to hang out with!!

hehe...I would have answered, but unfortunately I don't have any experience what so ever with opterons, actually I have no experience with any a64's yet (we will see if I go Tejas or 939 next :D). If those are the additional #'s after the timings that people give when they talk about a64's, then I am pretty sure people use them, but don't know what they should be set to or anything...sorry

Most of you state that you are ocz employees in your sig, and you get to know a whole bunch of people in forums. I would imagine most people at xtreme know an ocz employee...seems like there are more ocz employees in here than any other company, and in my opinion that is a damn good thing...paying momre attention to me is always good :toast:

I have know oczsean aka SeanOMatic for a while. He is usually over at ocforums.

Sweet!! SPQQKY!! Thats nice.. But not really all that impressive.. Not trying to put it down at all.. But it is pretty common nowadays.. We need to see something on the range of 325MHZ to 333MHZ 1:1 to make the knees buckle..!! Com on man!! Make my knees buckle baby!!

Actually my 233FSB 1:1 cas 2-2-2-5 will eat it up.. Plus 2 3.5GHZ Xeons!! I will pummel you!! LOL!!!!! Just kiddin!!

Actually, I will give you a break.. The showdown!!!
Cinebench 2003.. I will go to 3.45GHZ @ 230FSB 1:1.. If you can beat my system I will (UPS) you a 6 pack of Budwieser... Let me get a screenshot setup for you!! Stand by!!

Yeah BABY!!! Your the man I was looking for!! An true Opteron owner in the flesh!!.. That doesnt mind showing off his rig!! Way to go..!! :toast: I look forward to that incredible bench... My goodness, I cant even imagine what in the world 8 Opterons could even possibly attempt to do in Cinebench.. !!! It will most definatley break some incredible records!!! I'm trying to get together a clan of Opteron owners, so we can make history.. I already have a well established clan of Xeon Owners put together.. Ctigilles being one of them... Now for my ongoing crusade into the world of Opterons... I will seat you at the table right next to Ctigilles if you can break 25 seconds with your rig Crankster!!! This is awsome.. !! I knew Xtreme's forum would yield me some fresh recruits..!!! LOL!! Now, if I could somehow convince OPPAINTER, FUGGER, and MACCI, to make the investment, I could rule the entire earth!! LOL!!!!!
