somehow last night one of my fan wires came loose and fell into another fan and yanked the wire from the fan header. Now
both the chasis and the power fan header do not work anymore, just the cpu header.
It's not that big a deal for me cause i just wired them up to the power supply but it would be nice to know how to fix them.
The board is a p4c800-ed. I assume I blew a cap or 2.

but when you say it fell into another fan and yanked the wire from the fan header, you mean that one what is drawn in the picture is what happened, or something else? (its a bit hard to understand)
(this doesn't have much to do with 'xtreme overclocking' :p:)

the wire came loose and got caught in another fan and it yanked the wire and unplugged it from the board. basically 2 of my fan headers dont work.

LOL @ pic.
I dont think it broke the wire, more like strained the wire, and snapped off the fan header on an angle kinda thing
It should be on the thread extreme breaking :D
As for the prob I dunno what to say; are u any good at soldering?

Well I wouldn't know if it was possible to fix it, or how, but I imagine that some people on the board have had similar experiences. What I was trying to illustarte with the pic is basicly that one wire suddenly became no longer attached to the motherboard. Which wire was it? Did it happen while you were out? and finnaly, for the grand prize, was the fan headers descion to stop working instantanous, or did it happen later on or somthing?
Edit: Well, I have had something similar happen to me, on an older p3 board (gigabyte 6vm7a+ ) where I belive I either shorted one of the fan headers or plugged a fan in backwards (because being a moron I had the fan soldered up wrong) and I fried the RPM monitoring chip or something and lost rpm monitoring all on headers. It is possible something similar has happened to you, but hard to tell.

looking way into it. the end of the wire the plug that plugs into the header just pulled out, nothing snapped or strained or pulled. I believe i blew a cap on the board or something. the headers dont work no more. all wiring is fine. funny thing is it blew both headers. and only one became unplugged. I can plug any 3 pin fan into them and it dont work.

Which wire was it? (colour) I understood what you said about it coming out of the plug. You could have blown a cap, but usualy make a fairly loud noise when they pop. Electrolytics at least, havnt gotten around to popping an smd one yet.
