Lol, no Monday Night Football in the rest of the world, Charlie. :p:

Hey Jupiler, I'm going to be in Liege, Belgium for 3 weeks in July to study French. :)

Hey, that's nice.
I live 20km from Liège, so we can meet if you want to.
Keep in touch.

Shade00

I'll do that. I'd like to meet some fellow O/Cers and practice my French.

So charlie, you going to bust out some Barton O/Cing on us or what???

charlie
03-24-2004, 05:33 PM
Oh yeah.... sorry :)
Here's the int'l language :D

Anyone tell me how much juice I can give this XP-M 2600+

here's 1.94v

trueplaya4ever8
03-24-2004, 06:03 PM
i think you might be able to squeeze 2.1... altho i am just guessing...

charlie
03-24-2004, 06:05 PM
I get BSOD @ 2.1v

:(

sandman
03-24-2004, 06:08 PM
You know what that means? it wants 2.2V? :D

How much do you gain by going up in smaller increments?

trueplaya4ever8
03-24-2004, 06:09 PM
whats bsod mean, does it mean it wont boot? i am still pretty new with this.

i should finaly be able to get some overclocking done with my system i am gonna build end of the month....

2.0V

sandman
03-24-2004, 06:16 PM
hmm...dunno.

Doesn't seem to be scaling well with voltage.

bust out the LN2

Maybe it needs a little burning in.

Awesome ocing, hit 3ghz!

charlie
03-24-2004, 06:30 PM
Sorry for the letdown, guys :(
The closest I can get to 3ghz is this:

afireinside
03-24-2004, 06:45 PM
Burn+ln2+2.3V=3ghz ;)

charlie
03-24-2004, 06:53 PM
Still pretty good for my new 24/7 gaming/internet/web creation rig :D water cooled of course and with 1gB DDR and a 5900...

try 167*18

charlie
03-24-2004, 07:02 PM
it's already drying off :D
I don't think it would have helped though... I did the L12 mod and it runs ok at 220 now :D

You didn't get the best CPU, unfortunately. I saw some XP2500-M which hits 2.7 @ 1.8V with aircooling.

Yeah definitely! Even mine went 2600mHz at 1.85v...
Another thing... Athlon is MUCH more difficult to cool with DI. The tiny little core has so little surface area, that it really doesn't work well when loaded! It needs phase change!

So how much does it do completely stable 24/7 on watercooling?

faruquehabib
03-24-2004, 08:38 PM
it looks like you are running a xabre card with that little yellow thing in the corner....hmmm

Evil_Spork
03-24-2004, 09:37 PM
my new 2600 does 2500mhz @ 1.65v prime stable... seems like you got a rather poor chip. only 200mhz more with .25more volts and dry ice.. =-\

maybe try another?

Hallowed

I just wanted to give props to charlie for being the first guy in 2 months to post a thread in Xtreme Overclocking about Xtreme Overclocking. :toast:

Sucks about the OC letdown but 2900 MHz is still more than plenty. :D

Cool stuff C.

Hallowed: soo true!

Charlie: dont worry about the vcore dude. You'll run out of motherboard before you'll run out of cpu. Especially on LN2. The amd's are nearly impossible to cook w/ voltage... you'll blow mosfets first.

charlie
03-24-2004, 10:27 PM
thanks for the kind words :D
Well this is probably the only time I'll do anything extreme with this CPU/Mobo. I've got a shiny new D-Tek Spir@l, JR120 and a couple 120mm "helicopter" fans that need to go to work. I'm getting a nice roomy Chieftec case and making it my 24/7 internet/gaming/web creation PC. Just trying to decide on VC...

Now 939 is a different story! With that new KIT, I'll be going for BIG #'s again. I'll be one of the "early adopters" just like I was for FX-51...

I DO have a quick CAN SOMEONE HELP ME!!! Question....
On BOTH of my monitors in the house I have this mysterious EVIL EYE in the center of the screen, I've tried hitting the degauss button to no avail.... what is it?????

C

trueplaya4ever8
03-24-2004, 10:40 PM
its a shame you couldnt hit 3.0ghz.. i am hoping to be an early adopter of 939 myself :D

STEvil

put a pan between the monitor and the wall and circle it around to see if its some stray magnetic currents being generated by a ground or something...

Large flat metal object + monitor = cheap mans magnetifc feild finder ;)

Yes seems like something might've been magnetized there...

charlie
03-24-2004, 11:52 PM
but I can MOVE the monitor and the image STAYS :(
And one of them is a nice newer Viewsonic that I really liked for the $$

Charlie, we have the same chip. If I can run benchmarks and fold @ 2750MHz (220x12.5/1.84v) air-cooled (http://www.xtremesystems.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=392265#post392265) you should be able to hit 3GHz easily, specially with dry ice or wc'ing

Keep trying dude, you can do it! :toast:

Nice results Charlie, like Hallowed said it's nice to see a thread with some real oc'ing going on again. I just love DI pics :D

Charlie grabs Yellow Pages to call local AIRGAS dealer...
How's bout making it a Friday NIGHT party??

Very nice OC, to bad you can't get to Windows @ 3 Ghz. I noticed your mem is running @ 333 Mhz. You might wanna try running the mem sync. Works better for me at least with nf2 boards.

Awaiting some serious oc... :D

charlie
03-26-2004, 06:38 PM
BTW, noticed the contact on my DI tube was REALLY bad...like 1/3 of core with no contact. That little core is REALLY tough on my tube!!!

So does that mean you'll try the DI again? ;)
