There only 135 at newegg... Can you still flash them? Are they fun to OC?

Looking what Macci did with his 9800SE AIW... i would say those could be quite fun.

They can be softmodded, but the $135 cards only have 128-bit memory. The best you'll get is a super-charged 9500 Pro if it softmods correctly.

By the way, Newegg has Powercolor 9800np cards for $172.

Are there any SEs at newegg with 256 bit ram? I'd check but I'm gona play ut any second now...

I already have a 9800np I want something else to play with. Even though I havent started with the 9800 cuz I need mounting hardware for my block :p:

from what I've read its something like 30-40% but it depends on the board. I think I recall the hercules cards having a higher sucess rate, but don't quote me on that.

as just buying the 135 dollar sapphire 9800SE i almost had 20K with nothing other than the omegas and change the thermal paste to AS5. show me a 9700NP or a 9600XT that will do that.....

here is the 3dmark2001

do the powercolor 256-bit ones always softmod properly? or no?

and do they OC comperably to regular 9800pro's

not sure, but i will more than likely buy one to find out....and i bought another Sapphire 9800SE to see if it will mod, and if it does i am going to go and do all the v-mods to it, see what i can squeeze from a sub $150 card

The hercules 9800SE AIW are the best for softmodding IMO.

If you are successful in softmodding it you have a very powerful card with all the extras (TV-Tuner, Remote BOB)

The hurcules has 256-bit RAM as well.
