I've got some 2X512 KHX3500... I'm not sure if it's BH-5 or not. The seller claims he ran it 2-2-2-6 @ 2.8V up to 225mhz on a IC7 mobo so I assume they are BH-5 when I bought them.
However, I can't get it to pass memtest over 185mhz whatever voltage and timing I gave. 2-2-2-6 and 2.5-4-4-7....
The kingston show up as 2-2-2-6 when I load optimized timing? Does that confirm it's BH ram?
I've got 2X256 corsair XMS V1.1 and they are definitely BH-5. However, I can get them to 230mhz @ 2.8V 2-2-2-6.
The only reason i can think about is the corsair is old bh-5 and the kingston is new BH-5 and there are known problem with new BH-5 with new Nforce2 ultra400 chipsets.
Anyone can guide me to threads about this problem?

Look Here (http://www.xtremesystems.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=32112&perpage=25&pagenumber=1) to see very detailed info on how to identify the chips you have. You will have to remove the heatspredders tough.
KHX 3500 don't have BH-5 (as far as i know).
their is no 'new' BH-5 either ...dunno wot ur trying to say there. they don't make BH-5 anymore ...at all.

Ok, taken off the heatspreader, it seems like they are BH-5.
Code: V56909 0304 P01 D328DW-45
From that link, it says all before DW-45 before 0318 are definitely BH-5.
I've heard KHX3500 to be BH-5, just very rarely. The DW proof it's winbond ram but I'm still not 100% sure. However, I doubt CH-5 can run 2-2-2-6 at any speed anyway.
Sounds like my 2X256 Corsair can retire after a week of hardwork, what I need is a new bios.
What I mean by new is "late" BH-5 ram. I heard they have problem with late Nforce2-ultra400 with old bios.
well im still in doubt :stick:
so much stuff going around about this DW-45 stuff
i also saw some KHX3500 for sale here ...(darn cheap) and the guy claimed he cud do 240 2-2-2-6 @ 3.3v (which does act a bit like BH-6 ...to me, but no proof).

Older ones have them. Heres a pic from mine(pc3500) and they do 250 at 2-5-2-2 so...

Yes, I'm sure they're evil... especially having 1.5gig of it. It's causing my credit card company to come after me. Got to pass that 512mb of evil on soon before they kill me.
Running the 2X512 @ 210 2-2-2-11-13-15 atm everything @ stock volts. The new bios sorted out the problem.
They are going to fly when my 2600+M arrive and me starting to overclock seriously.

Well the BH5 thing has been beaten to death but one topic you touched on has not. My BH5 that has a problem with my Ultra boards is not new. I think they were 0307 or 0308... looks to me like 7th or eight week of 2003. The guy with DW45 has 50th week of 2002. But Id say mine is old too. Glad you got it squared away. I know new could be meant in context for BH5 but... just throwing that out there. I think the later batches work better in ultra. When I bought my sticks ultra wasnt even out yet and when it was released all the KHX3500 owners had issues.... which I THOUGHT were resolved when I jumped Ultra. Ah well, they are pending payment and I think I gave a good deal, they should scream 2-2-2 goodness in the right home. No problems with those timings on my nonultra but like most other of those boardsm it doesnt scream fsb. So either I simply have not experienced your theory or perhaps there is no pattern there. I've heard grumblings from corsair users etc.
I dont think DDR was ever intended to clock this high... so its not surprising that there would be compatibility problems at high fsb's with the tightest of timings really. I think at one point it wasnt even sure there would be JEDEC approved DDR400. The motherboard manufactures and chipset makers pushed it. Intel chipsets and the like.

No...you don't assume.
You pull the heatspreader off and READ...

I'm sure its bh-5. I have a couple of older pc3500 hyperX sticks that are bh-5. Don't think I've ever heard of bh-6 is these modules and I can't think of another chip that'll do 250 fsb with tight timmings.
