ok i started building my first rig today. i have p4p800 deluxe with 2.4 MO and sp-94, 512 of hyperx 3200 bh-5 and 9600xt. after a couple hours putting everything together, i plug it in and turn it on and turns out "system failed cpu test". so i tried to take out the cpu and put it back in. same result. so i thought the cpu has problems so i went and put in in my bro's system and it worked fine. i tried his 2.6 and it had the same error.
so there's probably something wrong with my mobo? that sucks cause i took off the stock heatsink holder thingy to put my sp-94 on and threw it away :( . also i bought this couple months ago from newegg before buying the rest of my things cause i'm impatient like that. very bad idea. so is there anything else possible wrong that i could possibly change. i hope so cause i don't even have enough for a cd drive right now using an old one. please help thanks.
that blows! ...try buy a dead P4 board off someone, put the bracket back on and RMA it. if u have the receipt. u cud also always try different ram.

I've seen places where you can buy a replacement hs retention thing. I tried looking through my bookmarks and couldn't find a store that had one, but I know they are sold somehwere! Look around and you can find a place to get one. Then put it on and rma the board.

before i try to rma it, could the problem be because the heatsink is on too tight and that might push some pins or something down too hard?
