Anyone with one of these 2600+'s have an Abit KT333 board around to abuse?
I'm sure that with some BH-5 and some modded rails we could see some really interesting results :D

i'm currently in the process of rma'ing my old kt333 gigabyte, but i dont have a 2600-M for it...just an rma'd retail 1.4 266fsb t-bird!! hehe

Plan to put my 2400+ mobile in the trusty ol' kd7-e and see what some 250 FSB burned-in BH-5 will do.

Who's got an old school KR7A they can try? :) I wanna see that in action with a mobile.

STEvil,
My post in the previous thread (da 1.65volt one) is on a KT333 chipset, to be more precise on a Soltek DRV5.
I may as well repost the results here,
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/dresuk03/cpu-z_2526mhz.gif
Anything higherfsb wise i get screen corruption before i hit OS, bios is a mess. Could peeps with good knowledge of KT333 chipsets share there views about this. I think its because the AGP is far beyond spec.

Soltek DRV5 (KT333)

Vdimm: 2.77
Vcore: 1.625
what vid card mongoled? Also, try cranking the vdimm even if your mem doesnt need it as I believe on most kt333/kt266a mobos in controlls nb/agp controller voltage as well.

Rukk,
Ive tried with 9800, geforce4MX and 8500, same thing happens.
Vdimm is maxed out on this brd, what a shame!

im gonna be doing some oc'ing on a kt266a chipset mobo around may... multiplier's are in the form of jumpers on mobo, so old!

No chance of finding vdimm or vio mods? Tried raising the 3.3v rail possibly?

Well mods are out the question,
It is not my brd, Im waiting for a replacement for my Infinity. Ive got 3.3 volt rail at 3.5volts, and thats not helping. The screen shot will be the highest Im gonna get on this brd.
Ive looked for a wire trick for this mobo to enable higher multis but didnt have any success.

Hope I'm not straying too far off topic but I'm getting the chance to "test-drive" an Albatron KT400-8XV Pro + either a Barton 2500+ or a thunderbird 1700+ (not sure if it's a Thunderbird, Palamino, Thoroughbred A) at my new job in the next 2 days....
Can someone give me some tips on AMD boards as I've never owned/played with an AMD chip newer than a K6-2 450....
I think the Barton is a week 40 (not sure with the codes on the AMD's again so could someone please help me there as well).
I noticed that there's no AGP/PCI locks on the Via chipsets & also that the board I'm trying out in general is not too good.
any tips on OCing the CPU on this board?? I'm limited in multi's as this CPu is locked but I remember reading somewhere that Via chipsets go like this: every time a 33fsb is passed, say 199, 23, the AGP/PCI bus goes back to 66/33, am I right or does this only happen with AMD64/KT800 boards??
I'll be just using a generic 350w PSU, 40GB HDD & either 2 x 256MB or 2 x 512MB XMS3500 (both sets can do 240+ @ 3.4v though)...
Any tips for an AMD n00b?? I'll be trying to get an nForce2 mobo to "test-drive" a bit later on but have to start somewhere....
Got meself a good job as a technician/quality control (hence the "test-drives") & would like to get some tips on OCing Via/AMD combos if anyone has any input...
Can put the things together like its nothing but would like to find a good budget combo thats very good "bang for buck" as well as testing for stability for "everyday" customers...
You know, the ones that believe a salesman when they say that DDR333 is faster than PC2700:D :D & it's not me that says it, I just build the rigs & say a few words when ppl have troubles with their rigs...I couldn't blatantly mislead a customer, even if they don't know jack squat...
Cheers,

the highest t-birds ever went was 1.4ghz. your 1700+ is either a palomino or thoroughbred core. palominos have the coding of the cpu right on the die, whereas thoroughbreds have it on a black label at the bottom of the pcb on the cpu

Yeah, need one of those 3ghz wonderchip guys to take their cpu for a spin on an Abit/Epox KT333 board... should make 210fsb+ anyways ;)

Heh - who needs a mobile XP to get 210 on a VIA? This SS was on my kr7a, Samsung PC2700 CTL at 2.7v and a Tbird 1.4 at 1575 MHz :)

Its not more than 2500mhz, though

Whats so great about the KT333 boards?

Other than the FSB ceiling being slightly lower than the NF2, nothing :)
210 out of my kr7a, that was limited by severe BIOS corruption.
230 out of my kd7-e, with a volt-mod it might go to 250, who knows?
The bandwidth is so close to the same as the nf2 boards that there is zero practical difference between the performance of a good VIA board and the NF2 boards.
For me, the kr7a, the kd7-e and now my DFI Infinity have been just plain fun to O/C, great performance and reliability. The general quality curve of the nf2 boards is below any and all of my kt266/333 boards. That may be a sign of the times or a sign of the nf2 architecture but total FSB is the only place the nf2 boards have beaten the VIA boards.
Now, if you're talking 20-30 3dmark01 points the nf2 is the winner over the kt boards. But in everyday gaming, ripping or surfing you'll never tell the difference.

Umm, can someone tell me what week Barton 2500+ I have??
Its an AQXEA or similar...
Other code is this:
0403-----...Is this a week 4 from 2003 or is it a week 3 2004??
Just wondering if it's locked....I can't seem to be able to change the multipliers with the p.o.s Albatron KX400-8XV something...
Just hoping that it's the board that's not allowing the changes of multi's...Hope it is...
TIA

Because my ASUS has died....I have put my mobile in a ECS K7S5A....works fine @ 13.5x150 :) 15k 3dmark with an K7S5A..not bad at all...
So I think it will work on your KT333 ;)

hehe i guess whe buy the same hardware :p
I have one of those to. After a xp1700 burned up in it it was kinda fubar. The temp always was 43° no mater what. Then it locked up while flashing a new bios. No it just lies here without a NB cooler. Funny thing is, it got 5mhz more out of my old pc2700 ram then my 8rda did. I don't remember what Vdimm it has ,prolly higher.

NoStra - not worried about them working in the KT333 boards... as I didnt ask that question.
What i'm insterested in is if someone can take a crack at 2900-3ghz or so and also try to get the FSB up there a ways..

Ahhh, so it's not the board...Just have to wait til I can get one with an unlocked multi to play with...
Kinda hard to play with just the fsb when I can't lock the AGP/PCI buses...
