Obtaining LN2 in the US

How would I be able to obtain LN2 in the united states? I hear it's very difficult and you need many permits. Any truth behind this?

I just picked up 10 litres of Ln. No permit no big deal :toast:

LN2 is used in ranching (bull semen!) and chemical process control. Not too hard to get. The yellow pages is a place to start, check out compressed gas places - if they don't have it they'll usually know who does.

I was told I may have probs, because my dewar is missing it's "tops" or lids.... although we know it can't be a sealed type lid??

I looked into it, local compressed gas company had it, and they will let you use a dewar, just put down a deposit, refundable when you bring it back.

a high quality dewar may hold it for several days... but it will "shrink" day by day.

put it in the freezer! :D

You also want to store it in a well-ventilated area, as it "shrinks" and gasses off you could get high concentrations of gaseous Nitrogen. Not good if it adversely upsets the Oxygen percentage in the air you breathe.
