I have been looking at getting one of them new mobile xps to replace my barton. Im just unsure of the value of doing this.

Current rig:

8rda+
2500 locked (will do 220x11 at 1.8)
Aeroflow.

Potential new Rig:

DFi Infinity
2500 mobile (unsure of current stepping)
water cooling with swiftech mcw5000 (can get it for less than 30 cdn new)

Now my current setup is good for around 2.4 ghz but i get some pretty high temps. My mobo has been acting up lately and i think i need to replace it (i think i had a flash go half bad on it). I gots hyperX pc3500 thats BH5 (i believe at least) so a high fsb might be nice with the DFi. Just asking for input more than anything on if i should do it and make the change. Im gonna redo a full rig next january so this is more of a hold over than anything.

just a heads up, but KHX3500 is NOT BH5, go with the KHX3200 non-A or KHX3000

or check my thread

Thats what i thought 2, but i have had it over a year and it will run 2226 at 220 fsb at 2.8 volts(2.5 v standard on it) . Never removed teh HS so i cant really be sure. There is no A after the 3500 either. Makes me wonder.

hrmmm sounds like some1 wants an excuse to upgrade :p: you'll have lots of fun with the infinity and axp-m 2500+ combo.

You gotta think about whats most important to you. What do you use it for? Do you OC just for the OC'ing, or do you OC for the gaming? This upgrade won't do nearly as much for gaming as a faster GPU would. Most important, after thinking about all that, can you justify the cost? (and afford it?). Selling yer old parts will certainly help with that, but you'll still face upgrade costs unless you totally fleece whoever u sell it to.

Unless you got money burning a hole in your pocket, upgrading a 2.4gig athlon is prolly foolish. I did have that burning sensation in my pocket, so I never felt real bad for upgrading. Dont forget a complete water setup is significantly more than $30 unless you already got the necessary parts. Dont fall for the "greatest new thing" bandwagon unless you're willing to pay for it w/ little real-world returns. At most, you'll get bragging rights, and nice(r) benches.

The mark of BH-5 is the ability to run 2-2-2-5 at 3500+ speeds (217+ fsb). Of coarse, you gotta feed it lotsa volts to do that. If it will only do 2-3-3 or worse, you likely dont have BH5.

i was going to suggest waiting for either a 939 setup (i think they'll be out very shortly) or wen the 939's come out, the 754 setup's might go down a little bit... so u could get like a shuttle an50r , and , athlon 64 3400+
