Hey guys please specify if your using a MK1/2 and what system are you rinning this on and post your overclock/system specs/pics if you have
Also if your using a mk2/1 please tell me what the "deciding factor" was for you. DId you get a mk1 because of budget problems or do you think that the differences (flexible hose, 100% mb compatibility, 40wats extra cooling power, ect) worth the extra $400...Or why did you pay the extra $400 for the mk2? :toast:
Running one Mach1 right now with an A64 3200+ on an AN50R. 24/7 overclock varies from 2600MHz-2620MHz.
I have another Mach1 that will be running a XP2500-m on a 8RDA later this week. I'm just waiting for a replacement AMD kit from Kit-Tronics.

Why so many mach1s and so little mach2's would really like to hear more about why you guys picked what you picked....

Same here last summer with the Vapochill PE I owned. And we had the hottest summer since 500 years! No way to sleep here in my room after using my PC.
Mach I on 2500+@2700MHz, 2,6C@3,7 GHz (Memory limited).
Will go with my 3200+ when i'll get a new board.

Mach 2
Anything else/nothing
I want to see the results too :).

2 x 404a modded MachIs and 2 x stock MachIIs
I love em both! The MachI is less complicated to work on because it has less electronics but I do like the windows interface of the MachII. 3 out of the 4 are in Lian Li cases, the 4th is in Enlight case (black). 1st MachI has P4 3.2 with Asus 4800 deluxe mobo and WXP Pro os and Baker block, 2nd MachI is being regassed right now with 404a, 1st MachII has 3.4 A64 chip with Shuttle Mobo W2K OS and last MachII is in process right now of having 2600 mobile chip with DFI Lanparty mobo installed and will run W2K.
I also have custom direct die/chiller combo hand made by Bowman, and a double stacked case watercooling rig stuck in my wall with NF7-S with 2500 barton and 3 aircooled rigs.
I didn't answer the poll because I use both.
That's just not right Dude. ;)

Wow looks like you have quite an arsenal there The Dude :) can you spare any more details? :toast: Do you feel that the $400 price difference betwen these 2 is valid. Many guys say that a mach2 is not really better than a mach1 just a different chip controller and soem "cosemetics" and i doubtthat the extra 40watts power is worth the extra $400 -- Im not trying to bash anyones decisions here because I already have a mach2. However im rethinking of trading it back in for a mach1 (while its stillboxed). I can use the extra $400 for a gas exchange and a fx-51 instead of a 3400+.
Do you run 24/7 on the modded mk1s the dude? If anyone has any comments on what I said please feel free to respond to them :) I want your opinions :toast:
here going to add al il more:
the dude what temps (real ones) are you getting with the modded mk1s and the modded mk2s please no lcd temps..also what kind of overclocks are you getting and what overclocking difference did you find between stock mk2 vs modded mk1 -- if any..thx :)

I have a Mach2 because I got it for a good deal @ $759 complete, LCD, mounting kit, sealstring, and Enlight case. Free shipping ontop of that. AMD 1700+ will do 2800mhz , my room is a hot box and this has never had any issues running at all no matter how hot I let it get. I rarely run the fans at anything other than normal. I have zero complaints other than the windows software settings for the fans don't seem to change them untill I shut it down and turn it back up, or wait an extremely long time in windows, but the LCD stuff works fine with it.

I'll try.
I think the price difference is valid for the changes that were made, but it boils down to your own preferences. From a strictly performance view point, I guess you would come out ahead to use that money to mod a MachI. I like the windows interface. I like the fact that the MachII holds reset on all mobos and I don't need a 2nd PSU.
Yes I run the modded 404s 24/7 and the stock MachIIs as well. They put off quite a bit of heat. I have the heat vents in the basement closed in winter and heat with the prommies. :D My Modded MachI seems to outperform the stock MachII by a significant amount but I can't say how much in terms of temps or OC. I would have to take the time to run comparisons. The temps on the modded machI run about -44c loaded. Unlike the MachII, my modded MachI displays very close to correct temps on the LCD after the Mod....it did not before the mod. Bowman did a rather extensive mod on the 1st MachI...404a, baker block....replaced hoses and fans...added HD drier...adjusted cap tube length...etc The 2nd one will not be that extensive. I can't really give an accurate answer to the question about OCing differences between the two as it would require identical systems be run on both with identical configurations and I have not done this. An example of OC would be my 3.2 P4 stable at 4 and boots into windows at 4.2 unstable...(just good enough for a screenie.) I hope this info helps.
MK1(stock)NF7-S/2400-mobile@11.5x230fsb(for now) or 1700+@12.5x220fsb. It an old unit and my temps have been creeping up lately so i may go back to my chiller for a bit till i can r404 mod the mk1.;)

Mach I
8rda+ / 2x256MB Mushkin BH-5 / 1700+(dlt3c)@11.5*233. I bought it before it was called Mach I and before the Mach II was even released. I only use it for gaming so it's not a 24/7 machine.

Had a MkI.... XP1700+ DLT3C @ 2.8Ghz
Sold it and got a MkII... XP1700+ DLT3C @ 2.95Ghz
Got a MkII cos I was sick of a few annoying niggles with the MkI... such as minimal control over fan speed, ugly LCD display, awkward controller to program, no way to monitor evap temps thru PC, exposed mains connections internally, "thermal-bus" too fragile when dealing with tight bends and twists...
The MkII has all of those issues resolved. Head is a bit more aesthetically pleasing, fans can now be controlled in windows by draggin a slider, LCD is now more "matrix orbital" stylee (altho still ltd as to what can be displayed on it), pc comms link by USB, no more exposed mains, thermalbus flip-flops around like a piece-o-rubber, supports additional temp sensors (all be it unofficially)...
The fact that it gets a little colder was just an added bonus on top of my reasons for changing over from my MkI.

All good points for the MachII, Marci. I actually told people it was silly to buy one until I actually got my hands on one. Now I don't want to give up the goodies. ;) You get used to having those extras and miss them on the MachI.

I got the Mach1 for the coast. It has no problem holding the reset with my NF7-S board. I wish I could think of a way to duct the hot air out of my room however as the warm weather comes I can see it getting pretty warm in here. I think its in my sign but :
3000+@ 2860 MHz Stable as a rock No problems with the Mach1 yet.

Thanks for all of the comparison guys. Will have to see what Ill decide to do. My mach2 is still sealed so I might try to get rid of it and get a mk1 + fx-51 instead of a 3400+. If things are going to go slow and it will turn in to a hassle Ill just keep the mach2 and buy a FX-55 in a bit. Well looks like no matter what I decide to do it will be a win for me :)
This thread seems to be turning into a informative prommy thread.... :toast:

Mach 1 and I have managed to drive Marci nuts with a million questions lol. But as with all great projects the fun is the learning. I became a master of water cooling and in time will master freon.
Course by then there will "Thermo Gel" just apply the voltage from a 9 volt battery and it will quickly drop to -250C and stay there for about a year

A quick question regarding the A64 users in here at around 2.6 / 2.7gig.
I am asuming you are using FSB overclock since (i think) A64s are multiplier locked?! (cant remember) if so, what bus speeds you running (or if they are unlocked, what multi / bus are you running?)
Also what motherboards / memory configurations do you have to cope with it?
Cheers :)

Devilman: There are many threads covering that topic.
But I use a Shuttle AN50R with 2x256MB BH-5 Memory (3,1V @ 245MHz max), and a Athlon 64 3000+ @ 2,6GHz max.
Sure I overclock via FSB cause the multiplier is locked, so my FSB is at 260MHz.
But you can also lower the multiplier in order to run a higher FSB. 300MHz FSB is no problem on stock AN50R.
Generally the Nforce 3 is the best for overclocking while the VIA boards are faster at stock speed. But Via has no AGP lock so you video card may crap out very soon.

Mk1 - Ive had it for quite a long time when it was just "chip-con / Prometeia" no mach1, no mach2 ... just the prommy :P it was happier times! lol
P4 3.0c @ 3850 1.6v p4c800 dlx
I am hoping to get it r404a / r507 modded later this year, cheaper than upgrading to a mach2 and it will perform better anyway :)

I wanna mod mine too. R507a... wondering if any AC company could do it?
P.S. Using a Mach1 and quite satisfied with it.
phobos

Generally any AC company or refrigeration engineer could do it. But it's not done by just refilling the unit, you have to fine tune the amount of refrigerant in the system in order to get the lowest load temps.
That takes some time and time is money ;)

My A64 3200+ maxed out at around 2700MHz (270*10) with Mach II cooling,
Daily running at 2500MHz at 1.7V :)
