I have a weird oc'n prob with my 9800np

my card:
9800np with 3.0 infineon crap :(
anyways, with an OCZ gladiator III w/ 60mm delta I could clock to 411/326.
I stuck the Vgpu modd on, and all of a sudden I can only clock the ram to 301.
I took the mod off, still only 301. So I stick the mod back and give it 1.8Vgpu, only 429/301:(
So I stick the card in the freezer and pop the shim off. Now I can get 470/301 at 1.8Vgpu :D
but whats the prob with the ram?

hehe, 480 with *minor* artifacts and only 1.8Vgpu:D

but the ram is bugging me, not only do i get infineon, but its worse then 3.3ns infineon(I had a 9500np with that do 470/337).

maybe your 5v rail is weak and got even lower with the gpu sucking more volts after you modded it?

try to raise the 5v rail! :)

woah, taking off the shim made that much difference? maybe i should try that... i'm at 470 without mods...

I don't think you are supposed to take the shim off of the 9800's.

On mine the shim sits lower than the core and removing it would be pointless (actually I can't, as thats what my HSF is attached to).

The shim on my 9500np was lower then the chip, on my 9800np it *was* higher, now its gone. I also get different artifacts. Earlier at 429 max i was getting artifacts that meant it was overheating. Now that the core is touching the HS, I get different kinds of artifacts, the stuff seen when Vgpu aint high enough.

and my 5v line is at 5.11, so thats not it.
