hi,
I have AMD 2500+ Barton on NF7-S, and my cooling is Volcano 12 (using it on 3000-3500rpm).
My case is Compucase CI-6A19, 1 x 120mm fan - rear, and 1 x 80mm fan - side.
and my CPU is really Hot for that I think, all the voltages are at default, no OC for anything, and the temps are:
about 42-44 idle, and can go over 50 on load.
is there something that I am maby doing wrong or something i can do to lower the temps?
Thanks,
Asaf.

have you tried to re-seat the heatsink? sounds like its making bad contact. and maybe the fan on the side panel is creating turbulences so the hot air keeps spinning around the cpu?

is it pulling in fresh air on top of the fan of the cpu heatsink or is it pulling out air from the case?

if you have it set to pull out air you are probably creating turbulences above the cpu heatsink. the cpu fan and the side panel fan are both fighting for the air between them, one sucking it towards the cpu, the other one sucking it away from it.

you should set it to blow fresh air on top of the cpu fan.

hope that helps, oh, and congrats to your 100th post ;) :D

has it always been this hot? whats your room temperature?

bad thermal compound?
How high are your case-temps??

the side fan is blowing the air in.
my case temp is about 30-32.

re-apply some arctic silver

Re-apply paste then re-seat and tell us if anything happened?

Sounds about normal for 30-32c case/ambient.

for a stock 2500+? 50°C+ under load is way too much if you ask me, even with those high ambient/case temps...

50 load is high, but he doesnt give any information on orientation of the fans or specific locations in relation to hot areas, so 50 load is about right ;)

exactly what i would do. cause i have a 2500+ with a volcano11 at 300rpms and idle is 39C full is 43C and it IS OCed

my case temps are only about 25C though

I'll have to agree with saaya..........50 degrees is a bit to much, unless he is reading from bios and it's a little bit off.

I would say it is definately a thermal compound issue! Go ahead, take theheatsink off and take off the thermal compound that is already on.Then re apply it, and remember less is more. You only need a thin coat on the heatsink in the die area!

yea reseating your heatsink would be my first suggestion, if its AS3 or AS5, dont spread it on, put a small dab on the middle and let pressure spread it out, also make sure your heatsink has firm, even pressure, you should be 3-4 degrees lower at least

I checked again about the room temps, and I was wrong,
on idle my CPU is about 42-44 and the room temps are 25-27 and on load the CPU is even at 51 and the room temps are about 28-31.

theres def something wrong then, now go and re-seat that heastink and relief your barton from that heat, it might thank you with a higher clock as bartons hate heat. :D

That temp is normal. It's around the preformance you should expect.. If that would be the real temp wich it's not ofcourse.
I don't think reseating the hs would help but you could always try. But lowering ambient temp is what would help..

If you're not running into stability issues, then it's not too hot. Sounds like you're reading the temp from the bios so it's really a crapshoot. Your temps are fine.

50C is too high for me, the only time my comps have gone that high idle OR load is when I unplugged the fan...

But you have another motherboard that measures the temp even worse then NF7. You cannot compare that against the threadmakers temperature.
I have had 8RDA+ and with some airflow i did have 1°C Under watertemp, full load at default 1800+ TbredA. Like 34C with 20C+ ambient and 120W load.
