Rig: NF7-S v2 w/ vdimm & vdd mod, 2x256MB KHX BH-5, 2500+ M (does 2.7), 480W Thermaltake B'Fly 3.45v, 5.3v, 12.4v, MCW5000 on CPU, MCW20 on NB. 11x230 for everyday use, 11.5x230 for benching
Here is a short summary of how I got to where I am now:
Before I was stuck at 225FSB with 2.9vdimm (its actually 2.97v if you read the vdimm with a meter) in DC CPU Enabled of course. I was using OCZ PC3700. After doing the L12 mod I could boot up to 240-245 depending on the BIOS! But then I you guys convinced me on BH-5 for the NF2 and NF3 so I took a chance, got 2 sticks of KHX at zipzoomfly, did the vmem mod and now my memory passes memtest86 upto 243Mhz with only 3.08v. I also did the vdd mod, I get 2v when I set it to 1.7v I watercool my NB so no worries about heat. After all this, the blend torture test only passes upto 230FSB 2-2-2-6 DC etc. : /
I would think I would get better results after all that?
Or does the blend test usually not pass after a certain point on NF2 boards?
Maybe my memory needs more volts?
What about putting a big ramsink on the pll where you read vdimm?
Any tips from the xtreme members would help ;)

L12 mod on a Barton? OK what did you make it? 200 FSB default? or 133?
I would try more juice on the mem side. Its BH-5 so it will easily handle it. 3.2 - 3.3 should do the trick. Also some boards work better with slots 1 & 3 , and some like 2 & 3. You probably already tried that, but if not, could be another thing to try.
Also, SB cooling - try throwing on a heatsink & small fan onto it, its been known to improve things as well, I know it did for me.
Might want to give BIOS 14b a try - stock or one of tictacs modded ones, they've been known for strong 11 multi performance.
Good luck.

Well I'm running a Mobile Barton. It defaults 133FSb so I made it 166Mhz with L12. When my room is nice and cool I can run it at 2.65Ghz rockstable.
eh, I actually forgot to try diff dimms. I'll try d14b too, good suggestions. I have two large ramsinks with ASIII and a lil epoxy on my SB. That 120mm fan gets air moving over most of the mainboard.

Nice looking rig you got there man :toast:
I like the 120mm fan mount.
Of course there is anoher way of getting high FSB - pick up a DFI mobo. ;) Thats what I am doing :D
I found the Abit fun to play with, but getting much above 230-235 (100% stable) out of one takes a lot of luck.
DFI performance seems more consistently in the 250+ range.

Yeah I think I'm going to get one and then I can really see if the Abit has better clocks then the DFI or not

I have had 2 NF7-S v2.0 (D18 and D19)
Vdd mod usally gives 5-10MHz not more.
L12 mod made me lose 2-3MHz on my XP-M, but thats different from what board you got.
Actually the board that did worse stock is that one that did best modified (Newer D19 one)
231.8MHz FSB 2.06-2.07V Vdd Air cooled is max however, but the one before that couldn't run 230 with more then that so i'm pleased...

Yeah, most DFI seems to hit around that, but i havn't seen many that are actually 100% stable there.
But i do not think it's worth getting the DFI now or if someone already got another nF2 board at 225MHz+..
I don't see the point on "benching" this 1.5 year old nF2 chipset anymore...

Appreciate the comments guys :toast:
Well the D14 is where I am going to stay. My temps are down, and now FSB is good from 230 to 235 with the blend test, so 11.5x235 2-2-2-11 for 2.7Ghz will be for benching
Since I might make my sister a PC, I'll think about getting my hands on a DFI and some more BH-5 just for fun now that I just got hired out of college
:banana3:
.. the highlighted molex is where I check my vdimm

Yep the good old D14 :D
As far as the temps being 'down' - they are just shown differently with older BIOS revisions. They are not 'actually' lower.
Awesome results though, now lets see some benchies at 2.7 :toast:

How fast can Barton's do SuperPi at 1M?

My Mobile Barton doesn't like anything over 2v
I'm happy with it though, it will holdmeover till Socket939 later this year
SAE, thats pretty wicked :toast:

LOL anyway prime95 is very strict, you can run games at like 200MHz higher clocks than prime95. Pay no attention to prime95, try 3dmark at 240fsb
