Hey guys.

I'm about to embark on the VDD and VGPU mods for my Powercolour 9700 non pro.

Just wondering what the highest core clocks are for non pros?

I think I have a good core - measured the voltage and it's 1.5v. I read an article suggesting that the better cores are set to a lower voltage, and worse cores are set to 1.7v to meet the speed required.

Mine clocks to 400 easily with no volt mods (water-cooled) and I can get 425 out of it 99% stable.

435 is do-able for benches, but locks after a while.

I'm hoping for at least 450 with a volt mod. Ideally 500 if I pump more v through it...

On the memory side, I have TERRIBLE chips. 276 default, will only do 300 Mhz stable, 310 causes textures to go funny colours. Infineon 3.3 pap.

Is it worth putting ramsinks on and increasing the voltage? It's at 2.85 right now and I will see if 3v improves things. If it does, I may consider putting sinks on and pumping 3.5 v through them. My past experience of sinks has not been favourable - NO speed increases. BUT I have not Vmodded before.

So what do you guys reckon about the core clock and the addition of ramsinks?

Thanks.

i would add ramsinks if u vmod the mem ... (but i dont think u have to ... i only got sinks on the back of the card ... too lazy to add some on the front side... maybe ill do it tomorrow ... need to increase the volts anyway...
the vmod on the mems will add some mhz but only few...
seems like u got some bad ram there ...but a nice core?!

my card does 435/320 1.73-1.74/3.0 (9500->9700)

my mem did about 312 benchable before the mod ...

3.5 is a bit much but i don`t know too much about how high u should go .. i think 3.2-3.3 is about the highest i would go ...
well i thought 1.75 would be the highest i will go on the gpu and im going to increase it to 1.9...

u should hit 450+ with a bit more voltage

Just found some copper RAMsinks lying around at home. They aren't BGA (standard longer ones for older cards) but as long as make sure they don't touch any compnents, they will do just as good if not better (larger surface area).

I'll plonk them on later.

Yeh - core is nice, but memory is well known to be pap

SMD Grabbers and my 10k cermet arrived today, so it could be a weekend of Vmodding! :slobber: (Either that or a broken gfx card :( )
