We converted a pair of very small Copeland condensing units into a cap tube cascade capable of beyond -100c using a baker block.

I can actually carry this cascade with one hand, needs to be picked up with 2 hands.

This cascade was used in my latest runs, now reaching 655 on the GPU with 2.1v

speck free "test" from Rivatuner at 655Mhz

Wow you and Chilly are doing wonderful things with these new units. Where before it was who had the best single stage unit is now who can make the smallest and lowest temp. cascade.

very nice work and congrat's on that killer 2k3 score you have there . :)

That is tiny and sooo fuggin awesome. I better get a decent job outta this whole college thing so i can afford something similar!

From looking over the forums for a few days I thought for sure you already where in the 7th ining streach by now. :)

i have that same exact fan and condenser but mine isnt black

There are just two questions:

How cold do you want it?

How much are you willing to pay to get there?

The real trick is the miniaturization. Looking very good. :toast:

since we are on the topic...what is the smallest compressor available?

That is a very nice unit FUGGER. Well done:toast:

I would like to build one myself actually, but would not know where to start. I know I could do it fairly easily if I knew what I needed and a rough idea of how to do it.

Is this the same as the Cascade Prometeia Mod that was pic'd by Chilly1 in another thread/? It's truely impressive! :)

edit// No Iguess this is a single vs dual evap... still awesome!

Hey Fugger looking good. Tell us a little about that hermetically sealed video card :D

How did oyu manage to braze the whoel thing together in such little space.

Brazing I sure was not a problem once it was all laid out..

Chilly1 assembled it, no burns anywhere =)

Ah coool, looks mad. What was it insulated by, normal neoprene tubes?

it looks very nice and clean fugger:slobber:

what gas are u using in the high and low sides? and whats the temp w/ the gpu load?

keep on the good work;)

very nice looking and small size unit what would happen if you moved that unit to the CPU ??

Come on Fugger.................. tell us more about that insulation on your vid card. What is that saran wrap?................ Were you up late watchin tv and seen one of those food savers and you bought it on a a impulse thinking how you could use this to prevent condensation.

wow, what is the cpu temp reading? i can remeber when cascade was only a dishwasher soap.:slobber:

no offence. but
i still dont see how 2 1/7 hp compressors could possibly keep up.
I wouldnt even use a 1/7 hp on a single stage set-up.

once again i mean no disrespect, but how?

Nice job fugger! A minature cascade :) just what i need...now where do you live :D

It could be done with even smaller compressors. There is a compression ratio at which a very small compressor can pump the mass flow required.

CPU and GPU cascade are capable of -100c

Since no air can move across the card, no frost build up. I only have to fill the AGP slow with dielectric grease and my video card will last forever. simple and costs about 1 cent. I stopped trashing video cards a long time ago. I insulate the GPU block to reduce loss in cooling.

The GPU cascade has no problem with the load.

Let's imagine that we have a tiny R22 A/C system, with a 1/20HP compressor. At ~40psi/225psi, it can handle the mass flow needed for about 600BTU/175watts heat load.

Now let's fill it with R14 and match the pressures. The low side at ~40psi would be about -102C SST, and the high side at ~225psi would be about -71C SCT, with a 600BTU/175watt heat load. Definitely doable.

wow very nice setup where can i get one? would conformal coating seal the card then the wrap? or have you tried that?
