As some know I have started doing free vmods on motherboards, vid cards, and power supplies. Some people have requested pics on mods I have done, so here is one.
We also flashed the bios to the GigaCube 9800XT. Not sure if that will actually help the clocks or not, but anything is worth a try. Why wouldnt flashing a vid card bios help when it can certainly help motherboards.. ;)
Here is a Vmod on a 9800Pro that I did for my neighbor:

We are going to bench it tomorrow using my MCW50-T that you see mounted.

can u let us know what u were able to oc b4 and after the mod w/out artifacts w/ that MCW50-T? and what about with air cooling? I have a 9800pro, but it uses air cooling and Im curious as to how much the mod would help.

That is a SWEET idea of using an unused molex as measuring points for the card. Looks like a nice clean mod. Let me know how it goes, I just ordered a 9800pro myself and am going to vmod it and throw my same 80w pelt when it comes in.
Post your results and the gpu and mem voltages you used.

TY sir. Better than trying to measure the voltages off the card with it plugged in and powered up. Good way to short something out.
I benched at 515/405...only got 20k marks, and had a few artefacts.
That was at 1.8Vgpu and 2.9Vddr.
Will try some more benchies after I reinstall the OS.
***EDIT***
I just resinstalled OS, chipset & vid drivers....broke 21k with alot of room left I think. Only time will tell.
So what pin for Vgpu do I attach the cermit resistor? can I see an up close pic of the Vgpu and Vdimm?
thanks, I should be able to finally mod my 9800 tommorrow

Good clocks on that card Hell-Fire. Now try taking that core up to 2.0v and the mem up to 3.1v!!!! And let me know what those clocks are getting you in '03.
Is that 80W pelt cooling your card well enough with 1.8v? I should be getting my card tomorrow.
BTW, I don't see the link that you referred to.

Anyone using that guide should thank Stang_Man for making an idito proof guie to modding the 9800Pro cards.
Yes, 80w pelt...and it cools it fine at 1.8v. That isnt all that much over stock to begin with honestly. The pelt will be good up to 2.1v or so for benching.
I will run the Vgpu and Vddr up alot higher come end of this weel. No time for tweaking and benching as I have some hardware to mod and some test to study for.

Hell fire, I so very much want your services for my 128mb 9800 pro that only does 425 on the core with swiftech mcw50 cooling it. I'll post in your services thread. You do very nice work there! The molex voltage check points is totally brilliant, too.

Thank you sir.
Take it and improve on it.
I once used one of those 6 port power connectors on a motherboard where I was measuring several different things. Was easier than mounting 2-3 molex connectors.

I am planning to buy a mcw50 or a maze 4, but i already have epoxied 18 mm microcool ramsinks.. :-(

One question, I'm a total n00b at this so please forgive me. How did you measure those volts from the molex? You just left the card unplugged and measured??!

No the card must be on and you read from the molex, one for vgpu one for vdimm to ground on the card.
Read the Fastlane guide above gives good explanation
hey Hell-Fire, was the core an R350 or R360?

R350
Wow, took you a month to answer my question lol.
Anywho, good for your friend... R360 on 9800 pro pcb sucks. I'm pushing 1.90v into the thing and it only gives me 440mhz core in return... =( (AMD STOCK cooler with 80mm fan and copper base)

Yeh, the only R360 doing well are the relabeled Sapphires from what I understand.
But thats because it was pretty much a true XT that had a Pro bios flashed to it.
