i got disgusted trying to find misc. parts here where i live and on the net, a condensor would cost as much if not more than an entire unit so i went to Lowes and picked up a 6000 btu ac unit. i figured id just use the condensor etc. from it to complete my project. ive seen some of the guys here have converted these to chillers and id like to run direct die, dual evap (CPU and GPU). i taken it apart, removed the evap fan, got rid of the thermostat and added a rheostat to control fan speed. i noticed when the unit is on High the evap temps are about 10c higher than on Low.
if i reroute the suction lines and redo the cap tubes and refill with r-12 for dual evaps, will it be worth the effort or should i just use the condensor etc. and toss what i dont use? if you need pics, my camera is ready, thanks, FOO
