Where's the cheapest place to get dielectric grease - the larger tube?
I bought some from somewhere cheap awhile back, but now that I'm out, Autozone is only carrying small tubes of it and Napa has a medium size tube for $8.
I still use cheap ol' Vasoline. I bought one tube of actual dielectric grease and boy oh boy was it expensive.
The Vasoline is a little thicker than DEG, but it cleans up pretty easy with Goo-Gone and a tooth brush so I don't mind.

Any Auto parts store, 1 tube should do it less than $4.

Yes, and any auto store that supplies to the repair community ie, Napa, CarQuest, etc will have larger tubes available for a little more. Compare prices of tube sizes... btw, that grease is almost impossible to get off, really, it's clear, invisible, still there after a light cleaning, doing it's job. ;)

Could use a spray called PCB Laquer spray which is designed for this pcb insulation.

Actually Hobo, go to RS and you can get a can of "electronic cleaner" and it cleans it off amazingly well. Never heard of using Vasoline before, that sounds interesting.

I've seen before and after shots of that cleaner. Looks like the dielectric grease just vaporizes on contact or something. I'd love to know how that works.

The Radio Shack Electronics Cleaner (link (http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&product%5Fid=64%2D4345)) works, but it's pricy! Chemtronics "Electro-Wash PX" (link (http://www.contacteast.com/product/group.asp?parent_id=985)) works just as well but comes in a much larger can (over twice the size) for about the same price.
